Pro Tips for being recruited/invited into Undead (OOC)

Getting into the Undead isn't easy at all and for good reason. The Undead are normally more powerful than most other races. For example; we can summon monsters and live in the Nether which naturally has a debuff to everyone else not Undead. We're also a very small race, so it only takes one jerk to act like a fool and make us ALL look bad.

With that said, we try to run the Undead with an iron fist. I pitty the noob. Since I like to keep recruitment secret for both fun, serious, and personal trolling reasons (squirm mortals!), you won't see anything about the steps you need to take to become one of the most powerful beings in Aegis!

Still reading after that last sentence? Good, you're already more qualified than everyone else who stopped reading in becoming Undead. Lemmie make a list to help you out and make this simple:

1. Go . Though filling out the bottom application that you're supposed to amend to your server application won't gurantee we'll pick you for Undead, it sure as hell helps (especially when you do a damn good job filling it out). It shows you're at the very least, reading the forums. (Thanks Wyrd!)

2. Don't go up to an Undead or send us a message begging us to become an undead. Drives us bananas. It shows you don't have the courtesy to read threads like this or the Wiki, so why should we pay you any mind?

3. Quit wandering around our town! The Undead are very territorial. Keep in mind we're at war with everyone who has a heart beat. If you come at us shouting to get our attention, we'll smile as we strike you with lightning or summon our zombie hordes to eat your flesh and give us your loot. At the very least set you on fire and giggle. At this point we're already laughing at you in Teamspeak and mocking your lack of ability to read the forums.

4. Worshiping Iblees does get our attention, but doesn't make us like you. Think of the undead as stuck up hipsters. If you sacrifice or tell us you worship Iblees like us, we'll scoff and tell you you're not cool as we trample your bodies. Freyj and Rott have spoken to Iblees, we wrote the games lore as such (Wiki!!!) so don't tell us you're sacrificing to Iblees or winning at Murder. But seriously, the Undead do believe they're better than everyone, just like the Elves have pointy ears, the Dwarves are short, the Orcs are green, and the humans... do... stuff.

5. You're not undead we are, stop trollin'. There actually is a command to make a player undead, if you say you're undead and we take you to the Nether, assuming you haven't been actually turned undead by an undead, you'll slowly die until you respawn at the Cloud Temple of Aegis (Not the Undead Crypt where UNDEAD spawn).

6. Be subtle! The Undead carry many secrets, prove you can too!

7. Read the Wiki and educate yourself! No dummies here. Yeah, talkin' to you noob.

8. Show you can RP like a boss. If you see an Undead or someone you expect to be an Undead walking around, start an RP with them or even someone else! We're always looking, we have eyes everywhere, not always Undead, but people who want to see the Undead prosper as an RP group as well. If you show you're good at RP, nothing brings our attention more. (Except Bacon, bacon is the s**t.)

9. Get a Necronomicon. Super hard to find, but it'll tell you how to approach an Undead so we don't eat you. Recommended last resort after giving up.

10. Have our backs IC and OOC. Too many trolls out there will run around metagaming and screaming "Undead Undead!" and when asked how they know they say "We right clicked dem!". Right clicking gives OOC information. If you see someone do this, smack them upside the head for us and tell them to cool their beans. After they log back in from getting kicked for metagaming of course.

11. Look for an Inquisitor. 99% of the time they'll be undercover (like most of our Undead are). Inquisitors are the lead recruiters for the Undead, next to the Overlord and Prophet. See them and keep item 8 and 6 in mind.

12. Keep in mind the leaders of the Undead currently are GM's so we're in OOC most of the time. If we see you bragging about how evil you are or how sicknasy that sacrifice you and your bros did back in the Al'Khazar sewers, we're probably writing your name down on the "do not call" list.

13. We do look into the history most of the time. If you have been banned or complained about quite a bit, we'll know. This doesn't disqualify you, but much like a pedophile applying to a nursery, if you've got a history of metagaming or griefing, we'll know. Kapiche?

14. Make sure we're in character! MrZombez (Prophet Rott) and I do server development for other GM's as well as help people who are in need. If you see us building in Al'Khazar or fixing a grief-victims window out in the wilds, please don't make a fool of yourself and stand there attacking us for ten minutes only to realize we have god-mode on to avoid dying from noobs. (Yes this addition was necessary, yes this happens.)

15. If you haven't been recruited by an Inquisitor, the Prophet, or myself, you aren't a recruit! So if you find out from some jerk who can't keep his mouth shut what the recruitment process is, and you try doing it without consulting us first, we're basically blacklisting you and will focus fire you in any and all invasions. It's just plain dumb! You can't wander into a military base and pick up a gun shooting it around saying you're a soldier! You have to apply first. Learn to bureaucracy.

If you've read everything above I should recruit you right now! (Lol jk, no soup for you!) Sorry I wont say "Do this and win" but it kills RP, and makes our recruitment process phooey. I will edit as people continue to do stupid things and give us more to add here, so keep an eye out if you're interested and not already accepted. I really hope this helps!

Edit: I've had to add two tips in the past half hour. *facepalm*

7 and 1 will keep a dump-load of noobs out.

They are simple but from my point of view the most important ones.

10 and 14 don't make a lot of sense. At the very least Priests, Druids, Shamans and the Ascended should be able to tell who is alive and who isn't ICly.

Although (I hope) happens rarely if you are going to build/repair/whatever OOCly you should tell us in ooc-chat.

Even though GM's aren't, everybody else should be IC most of the time and I admit it will look weird to see an undead to something constructive rather than something destructive but players can not smell you are OOC.

Maybe change your skin while you are at it.

Being undead means you are going to get attacked where-ever you go so changing the skin as you do ICly should also help a bit.

If you don't want to, make some sort of invisibility mod rather than Godmode.

ROFL at 5, did you really summon some poor smuck into the nether only to have him burned slowly? :D

All in all if someone wishes to be undead these are good tips.

P.S.

I am curious how many undeads there are currently.

cgsphinx,

You are right to a point. We can change skins, and do. However we shouldn't have to tell every brain dead retard that we are here OOC, and if we did then we wouldn't get any work done.

Also I disagree with your statement about 10 and 14, how is it fair that people who choose a certain occupation can spot us out? The Wandering Wizard can't, how are they better a spotter than him? How could we have a working economy if we can't go to towns undercover and sell our loot?

People complain to much about the Undead being OP, when they don't consider how much trouble we have interacting with the other races. Sure, we are about corruption, but we have to function in the same manner the others do.

Undeads have an economy? D:

What good is money to a dead person?

Kudos on the skinchanging then! As I said you should really consider modding yourself invisible rather than tell "every brain dead retard" to get the hell out.

Undead are far from OP, they have no racial bonusses and the only thing they do is cast magic and summon monsters, wich are -if the server is full enough, easily avoidable.

Maybe the fact that they are currently the only ones that can reside in the Nether over a long period of time but I -and I asume a hell of a lot of other people, have litte business there.

People know this, OOC is basicly troll chat

on the economie part: you can always set one up with some npc traders or just shops if it would be needed but i dont see them using more then little mats on wands

and if you are invisible how other builders know where you are?

@ IAmTraversy: Thanks! I'm glad it's helpful.

@ Foxinator: That would work, but I want the undead roleplaying with each other and people of the world as much as inhumanly possible (see what I did there? :P ), not just npcs.

@cgsphinx: Money for a dead person? I don't imagine a whole lot would be good, but don't forget friend, the person at the computer behind the screen isn't undead (I don't think) and they would like money or a home and so fourth. If homes were just coffins, money didn't matter, and undead didn't need food, we wouldn't need a city now would we. Cities are fun.

In regards to telling people we're ooc, we do! Invis mod is really up to Availer, but when there is a character in an Undead skin walking about town casually taking down houses and rebuilding them, or using world edit, or other GM commands, it should be obvious. Especially when, like last night, I was with several other GM's such as the Seneschal or a Princess. It wasn't a tea party. I assure you, I didn't make these points on a whim, I made all for the above post out of experience. These things do happen, they do get annoying, so I tall people of them here.

Also, Undead will get a magic stat bonus, and they are ignored by mobs, so if an undead is smart, they can surround themselves with summoned zombies or skeletons making them harder to get too. Have faith in the GM's, we won't make any race overpowered since all of us are different races.

10 + 14 do make sense, I might just not have worded it right. I didn't think Priests, Druids, and Shamans could see us, I knew the Ascended could "sense" us but not necessarily pick us out right away. I could be wrong about that. I'm apart of the development team for the server, so I do lots of building as well, changing skins doesn't always work since sometimes people need to relog for it to take place. Also, i haven't had a lot of time to actually sit down and make a skin i'm afraid.

@MrZombez The only people who think we are OP are the ones who get struck by our lightning. :P

you could get none undead traders to trade between the undead and other races. you may think this aint rp (not that many wil think this) but at medievel times in europe the western ppl where fighting the arabians i think it where near griece but they kept trading over see to spain. maybe this could work for the undead to gain there part in the economie?

I think the situation is different since we're undead. Plus, the Undead don't WANT to trade with the rest. Not that anyone would want to trade with us.

On second thought, yeah, 10 makes sense its probaly worded in a way different people understand it in different ways! (I still have mixed feelings for 14)

It's not like I ment Priests and like-kind have some sort of X-ray vision radar for undead. Lets say when a priest is chanting something holy the undead rebukes from it or when a shaman is doped up on mushrooms he is getting paranoid.

Maybe a very specialised proffesion like Witch-hunter will be able to spot you more quickly but I haven't seen any of those yet xD

Well I have an idea, not sure if it has been thought of but if an Undead player resides in the nether for a long time maybe he will grow stronger?

Sorry for it being off topic
