The Guards of Cascanova, founded on the 10th of The Deep Cold in the Year 273, are the leading force in the protection of the Barony of Cascanova. Alongside their service to the Barony, they also serve as an expeditionary force outside of the lands of Cascanova, providing aid to the Barony’s allies and the Empire of Man.

 

The First Edition of the Guards of Cascanova lists out two ranks for the prospective Swordsman or Swordswoman to pursue. Following the rebuilding of Cascanova, the Guard is expected to take on the task of defending the people of the Barony. They will also have the opportunity to attend internally-led training to keep their skills in the topmost shape.

I. The Swords Cascanova; The Hardworking Guard

 

The Swordsman or Swordswoman, otherwise known as a Guard, of Cascanova is tasked with the protection of the Barony and its citizens, whether they be the sick, needy, or unneedy. They are the backbone of the force, acting as the first line between the dark and the defenseless. In order to become a Guard of Cascanova, the prospective Swords must swear, and live, by the oath presented below. They will answer to the Spears first, and the Lord of Cascanova in their absence.

II. The Spears of Cascanova; The Accomplished Protector

 

The Spears  of Cascanova have proven themselves worthy of holding the title through the utmost dedication to Cascanova. The Spear is permitted to lead the Swordsman or Swordswoman of Cascanova, whether that be in expeditions, training, or the protection of Cascanova. Those who hold the rank have been chosen by the Lord of Cascanova to dedicate their work to the Baronial family of Cascanova. Alongside their duties within Cascanova, they are also tasked specifically with the protection of the Lord of Cascanova’s family. As a result of this, the Spear will typically find themselves taking orders directly from the Lord of Cascanova.

III. The Oath

 

The Oath that the Guard must swear by and follow is as follows: 

 

Swear themselves to protect the citizens of Cascanova, be they the sick, poor, needy or unneedy. 

Swear to wield their blade with honor and purpose, and to seek God’s guidance in their actions. At no point will they accept cowardice. 

Swear to accompany Cascanova in their initiative to better both themselves, and Cascanova’s allies. 

Swear to uphold the honor given to them by the armour on their back, and the sword they wield.
