Nero 347 Share Posted November 10, 2011 When you update again, you might as well cross out Talfagoron's name, seeming he quit and all. I don't know what you mean, he seems active on the team.

Repiteo 173 Share Posted November 10, 2011 Oh wow, I wonder why he chose to do that. Long story, but trust me when I say there is a good reason.
Nero 347 Share Posted November 10, 2011 Tell me about it :/ It was not pleasant. You quit too?
Repiteo 173 Share Posted November 10, 2011 You quit too? No he didn't. What he means is that the events before he finally decided to quit were a pain dealing with for the entire team.
Pliz 66 Share Posted November 11, 2011 Well... Here goes. Minecraft name: Plizga123 Forum name: Plizga123 What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why? (These are not listed in any order. I find them all vitally important to success.) 1. Biography This is something most newcomers overlook. A lot of the new applicants don't understand how vital your bio is, and how the better it is, the more ideas and openings are created for your character. Creating a long wall of text for your bio doesn't always make your bio a good one, because the length of your bio doesn't matter as much as the Details. You also don't want to have any power-gaming situations in your bio. Ex: It was me against 10 bandits. I won, coming out without a scratch. 2. What Role-Play Means From the applications I have seen, a lot of people relate games like WoW to RP. WoW is an MMORPG, which is different from Role play. Unless you're playing on a RP server in WoW, most of your interaction with other players is OOC. Fighting a boss for loot isn't something your character would say in his actual life. Role-play is, to me, the act of interacting with your character's world in the way your character would, in his eyes. I don't believe someone needs a long answer for this, as long as they clearly understand what Role-Playing is. 3. Their skin. This one is actually quite simple. I find there to be two main components in this part of an application.First, there is the skin link. If someones skin cannot be viewed, we cannot tell if it is roleplay worthy. I would ask them to edit their post, and fix it. I don't think they should have to fill out another application just because of that. Second, Is their skin a RP skin? Is it a creeper? Is it a man in jeans? These skins would be unworthy. Aegis is based around a fantasy-medieval style time period. A good skin to use would depict your characters race. 4. Grammar and Spelling LoTC likes mature players. How do you prove you are mature, you ask? Well, using correct grammar and spelling help. Many people do not want to read something like; "I ams th'e best at the fishing. I'ts funner than hunting." That does not show maturity. The players of LoTC speak English, (at least in-game.) And we need to make sure you have a good grip on it. Having good grammar/spelling GREATLY increases your odds of being accepted. Trust me, we all know it is hard to achieve good grammar and spelling, and having a slight amount of mistakes is normal. We are human. 5. Originality. "I grew up an orphan, my parents killed my orcs" NO ONE LIKES THAT. Lines like that have been used so much, there's memes about it. Be original. If you decide you HAVE to be an orphan, maybe your character could have killed his own parents? Or, maybe your brother did, or a certain group of people? Anything is possible, which is the fun of role-playing. I also include your characters advantages and dis-advantages in Originality. If you're character has no flaws, it is very hard to role-play with you, as it gets boring. Give your character weaknesses, as nobody is perfect. Lets take me in real life. I am a good reader and writer (I like to think :P )) but I am not too athletic. (sadly... :( )) No one likes a "Super good reader and writer, the fighter and the builder. He's the best of them all!" style character. Trust me, you don't a Mary Sue/Marty Stu. Well, that's about it for my application, I put some work into it I believe, but please tell me if there is anything I can do to improve it. I know I don't have many posts yet, but I will work on that. Thank you for reading. Email: [email protected] Feel free to email me if you want to talk to me, I'm sure I would love to ^^ (also there because of the document, if I get accepted that is.) P.S. I know I kind of talked as if it was directed towards the applicant, but my points still stand.

I feel like Native should recruit others to be in the application team accepting team. Then we could have an application-ception. :D Your Application is pretty good except you could check it again and maybe fix the grammar mistakes? I know I'm a member to but we're all one community and even if your competition to get into the Application Team then I will still try and help you out, it's like teamwork. :D Fix some grammar mistakes and you might be a perfect application team member, also maybe get rid of the colors that are hard to read. Good job and goodluck!

James Undercroft 129 Share Posted November 11, 2011 Would it be possible for all posts except for those that are applications to be deleted so that it is easier for native to look through the applications? I am just saying this because there seem to be many posts in here (myself included) which do not have much of a purpose here and seem to be clogging up space? Or would it be wrong to do such a thing? Repiteo 173 Share Posted November 11, 2011 Shift doesn't have a problem looking through these pages for applications, he has stated this multiple times already. I see no problem with the miscellaneous posts, and I doubt others do as well. Because unless the posts are spam (which hasn't really been present in this topic) then it is fine to have non-app posts. And if you have a personal problem with it, then just ignore the other posts, it's not that much a burden.

K33MST4R 219 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Minecraft name: CreeperSlayer999 Forum name: Jakiesan What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why? 1. The bio: having a descriptive bio that follows with the lore really helps to show off what you can come up with as an Rp'er, if you have a good imagination you generally have good RP skills, also a good bio isn't as boring for GM's to read, it's a win win! 2. Uniqueness: coming up with something different and original really makes your application shine among the rest, the typical "undead killed my parents" or "orphan who doesn't know his parents" has become very bland and may bore the person evaluating your app. 3. Be honest with your character's attributes: I know many on the app team who just hate perfect characters, it's not realistic, it's not fun IG, even the ascended have flaws so why should your random character be perfect? 4. Patience: Gm's can tell when you've put a decent effort into your app, spelling and grammatical errors really piss off the people reading it, take your time making the best app the first time, to be able to get into the server as soon as possible, also bugging a GM to look at your application just proves you can't be patient enough to wait your turn 5. Length: Short answer questions don't mean one word, go into detail on every question, if it asks if you can farm, say why you can or cannot do so, even your personal answers should be descriptive and detailed, this just shows the reader that you are articulate and are good at answering questions, "yes" or "no" really makes your app look shorter and gives the reader a bad first impression Native this would be my first big Forum job and I really hope you accept me to the team, I have an unbiased opinion on all applications and I really want to help ease some of the workload off the Gm's for a change so they can get to doing some awesome stuff ingame, I look forward to speaking with you in the future. Destroyer_Bravo 1054 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Minecraft Name: Destroyer_Bravo Forum Name: Destroyer_Bravo The five most important things in a good application: 1: Bio Think about it. Somebody writing "My char's name is [insert name here] and he is a [insert race that is not "Orc" here] who lost his parents to orcs" will be denied right there. Somebody writing an essay on their character will be much more likely to get accepted. And if you make a wall of text, nobody will read it. 2: Diversity Clone apps are bad, plagiarized apps are illegal, and similar apps are kinda boring. I want diffrent apps than "Bubbli's Example App". It also makes the job of checking apps more "fun" for us. 3: "What is your favorite/least favorite rule?" This tells us if they actually read the rules instead of jumping to the app. Don't want a street bandit with no villan app or a person who reterns to death point and tries to get stuff back 4: Grammar Seven-year-olds writing "Hey n00b give me ur minas nao" I would deny and say "Come back when your older". The grammar tells alot about the person, whether he is a 30-year-old doctor or a seven-year-old hoping to be "MLG" 5: Definition pf "Role-play" If they can't define role-play, then they really can't play on this server. Role-play is the taking over of a character in a diverse world filled with other characters. They'd have to understand the concept of designing a character, metagaming and avoiding it,and powergaming and avoiding it. WoW, Guild Wars, and other MMORPGs are NOT RP GAMES.
