Your age:
You must be thirteen (13) years old or older to join the server.

Rules:
You must have checked “read” on this question to be accepted.

Powergaming and Metagaming

In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay? Required

Powergaming is when a player does some unrealistic, unfair, or godly actions. This could be forcing emotes on characters other people play, or trying to have your character perform unfair or impossible feats.

In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay? Required

Metagaming (aka ‘meta’) is when your character shares or acts on information they should not know—for example, some detail that you only know out-of-character because someone told you in voice chat.

More in-depth definitions of each can be found here: https://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Metagaming_%26_Powergaming

Character Basics

Character Name:
When choosing a name for your character, ensure that it is suitable for the server’s fantasy setting and not based on your username. Avoid using the last name of any existing notable in-game families unless you have clear permission from a member of that family. Additionally, names taken from established characters in other media, such as Snow White or Frodo Baggins, are prohibited.

Your character’s name should align with the racial lore and cultural naming conventions of the race you are playing, ensuring it feels fitting and immersive. Aim for a name that is unique, believable, and realistic within the context of LOTC. If you're struggling to create a name, consider using a fantasy name generator or asking for assistance.

Character Race:
You can only apply as any of the races listed in the drop-down menu.

For more information on each, check out the link here: https://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Racial_Hub

Character Age:
Your character must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. They cannot be older than fifty (50) if they are human or a subrace of human, and they cannot be older than one hundred (100) if they are a non-human race.

Physical Description:
When crafting your character's appearance, it is essential to ensure that it aligns with the chosen skin and accurately reflects the character's described traits. This appearance must also be consistent with the character's race. To achieve this, refer to the "Physical Attributes" section on the respective race's wiki page for detailed guidance.

When detailing your character's appearance, focus exclusively on physical characteristics. Recommended elements to include are height, weight, hair colour, eye colour, and typical clothing style. Avoid mentioning any aspects of personality. All descriptions must adhere to the racial guidelines outlined on the wiki.

Character Biography

Character Backstory:

When writing your character’s backstory, it’s important to create something original that fits within the world of the server. Your character should not reference real-world history, events, religions, or characters from other franchises (like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc.). The story must be written in third person (using pronouns like he/him, she/her, or they/them), mention some server/current realm and be at least six full sentences long.  If you're having trouble with the scenario question, don't hesitate to contact a Community Staff Member in-game, on the forums, or over Discord.

Quick note: Please attempt to avoid using common character tropes. If you don’t know what this means, check out this link: Character Roleplay Tropes.

  • If you’re stuck on what to add, consider the following:
  • Your character’s family (parents, siblings, etc.)
  • Where your character is from (include a real place on the map)
  • What kind of environment was your character raised in (Please keep in mind you cannot claim to be royalty, nobility, notable, well-known, or too wealthy in any way.)
  • Why did your character leave home?

When it comes to referencing a server's lore or including a current realm in your app. Here are some links you may find helpful! Keep in mind the lore reference can be major events, wars, religion, etc.

Cannot include powergaming or metagaming (a common example is someone saying they killed an entire bandit caravan by themselves).

Cannot have any knowledge of or know how to use any magic of any kind.

Cannot have any direct affiliation or relation to deific entities.

Roleplay Scenario Response:

When responding to this question, think about how you think your character would respond. You must show an understanding of quoted dialogue and exposition throughout the scenario. You should try to show an understanding of quoted dialogue and exposition throughout the scenario. Please ensure your character is an original character that does not use references or lore from real life or other franchises. If you’re having trouble with this scenario question, feel free to contact a Community Staff Member in-game, on the forums, or over Discord.

Keep in mind the following:

  •  Must include at least one piece of dialogue surrounded by quotes, such as saying, “Hello there!”
  • Must include at least one action, such as saying: *Sally smiles at the merchant.
  • Cannot include any sort of metagaming or powergaming.
  • Your response should be in the third person!
  • Do not write: I smile and wave
  • Instead, write: Sally smiles and waves

Character Skin:
Please upload a screenshot of your character’s skin. It must match our server’s racial lore and be appropriate for a medieval setting: Core Race Lore - Master Thread. Your skin also cannot have dyed hair, any type of accessories that indicate them being nobility or royalty (such as crowns, circlets, or tiaras), or full face masks.

Don’t have one? Have a look through our Skin Archive to pick one out to use: LotC Skin Archive.

Submitting Your Application

Once you’ve filled out all the questions on your application, simply click “save” at the bottom of the page. It typically takes about one to three (1-3) days for your application to be reviewed once it’s submitted. Application reviewers look over them in the order they are submitted, so you should be patient when waiting for a response on your application.

Pending:
If your application is reviewed and set to “Pending”, please look over the reasons your reviewer listed and correct them by editing your application. After your application is set to pending, you will have forty-eight hours (48 hrs.) from the time it was reviewed to make the needed changes. If corrections are not made within this time, your application will automatically be denied. If this occurs, no fear, you are free to apply again with the same application as long as the needed changes are completed on your new submission.

Denied:
If your application was denied, you are free to reapply immediately after, just be sure to correct anything that was listed under your original application. If you have any questions about the reasons your application was denied, feel free to message the person who reviewed your application or another staff member.

Accepted:
If your application was accepted, then congratulations and welcome to the server! After your application is set to “accepted”, you should be automatically whitelisted as long as you typed the correct Minecraft Username on your application. If your username is incorrect on your application and it failed to whitelist you, send a message to the staff member who reviewed your application or another Community Staff member to get you sorted!
