I think book copying should only be done via rp means ie you emote copying the books by hand no mods

I keep a book copying mod for the sake of the fact that I do not want to lose what I have written to the infinite void of the buggy LOTC book-keeping process. That and to help others with copying their books if they need it. There is a necessity to book copying, however I do think that certain methods of its use should not be permitted such as stealing books from libraries or other people trying to display their work.

 

Overall it's a double edged sword, those mods. Helpful to certain groups and used in a bad way by others. I think stealing books should be punished at the least, but it would be a shame to lose a way to keep my carpal tunnel from cutting my wrist off like a cleaver.

Honestly you are correct, people using these mods unfairly is quite a bummer and I would crash out as well if someone copied my book and claimed it was mine (which has happened before, irritating as ****) 

I would love it if people start ASKING before copying down a book which to be fair will not happen cause the community who do not read posts never listen and say "womp womp"  

But altogether,

This is why I just make exclusive special editions and litter personal qualities of the writing throughout, i.e. wave banners, author at front (and sometimes back)

makes stolen ones easier to locate
