Military Training Exercises --READ--

So I recently had an idea to Improve the guard. The guard are often bored as I walk around Al'Khazar and very little training takes place within the guard. The military is often quite detached, the ranger are always very distant from the Guard and vice versa. Townsfolk are getting angry with the guard understandably, bored guards make a big deal out of something small and therefore judge people more harshly. I think we should run assault training exercises. They will be similar to this ((assuming people approve)):

-We get the guards, the rangers, and possibly the Galahar Pages/Squires and split them into two slightly uneven teams.

- The smaller team poses as villains, and occupy a the Galahar keep with a hostage inside. Their aim is to keep hold of the hostage and beat as many of the attackers as they can

- The larger team poses as the 'good team' and have to assault this keep, saving the hostage whilst losing as few men as possible

- A time limit could be added so that the hostage is executed after a certain amount of time has passed, pressuring the attackers

- No damage not additions are allowed to be removed/added to the keep, however either team may place ladders if they wish (providing these are removed at the end of the exercise)

- Each team would have a leader for the exercise. This would allows the seniors observing the exercise to judge how well certain members work as leader, and how willing others are to obey orders.

- This exercise could be altered so that the 'good team' are defending the keep

I would very much like to help run these exercises, however, it would require a lot of organising from a number of different people.

- Hawk would need to allow us to include the rangers in this exercise, and could help supervise the drill

- Felix would need to allow us to use the guards for the exercise and could help supervise too

- Sir Robert would need to allow us use of the Galahar keep as well as the pages ((and permission support unless there is another owner of the Galahar2 region)) and we would need permission from a knight in order to use his squire(s).

- I'm not sure if I need explicit permission from King Enor if the High Constable approves, but I shall put this idea out to him too.

I suggest having the 'bad team' made up of senior members of the guard who can do this well. The military could use this to develop fighting tactics, formations, positions erc.

Please ask any questions you have about this and feel free to criticise or praise as you seem necessary. I can guarantee this will not be perfect first time and there is always a way to improve this idea, so leave your feedback. The more you say, the better this will be.

Remember the main aims of this are to improve the overall effectiveness of the military as well as to stop as many standing idly around the city.

Kind Regards

~Kashi

I fully support this idea, whenever there is a battle there is hardly any organisation all I can see is guards, pages, squires and sometimes even knights run around like headless chickens. If we can implement this there'll be no need for some local militiamen running around and ruining the reputation of Oren.

Aye, do as you wish with this idea. The more training there is the better, or at least to a certain extent.

((Also this topic was done on my phone, and I will make any corrections to it ASAP))

Hawk actually mentioned something very similar to this to me the other day. I think it's a good idea!

I'm actually organizing war games with Fort Ranger and nearby Talamh. The fight will be in both places. The defenders start in the fort, and the attackers start in Talamh. All races are welcome to attend, I just have to set up a date. Personally, I think Fort Ranger and Talamh are a more ideal place to hold this kinda of thing.

I've never seen either of these two places Hawk, the reason being I only travel North to visit Aeriels Keep. However I trust your judgement; if you think the ranger fort is better, then we could give it a go. I just need approval from Felix I guess.

It would be great to whip all the guards back to shape (Including me) and if possible I would like a training area in the military district to enhance acrobatic skills of a guard.

Many thanks,

Why do you need my permission for the guards? Speak to the Captains. You use Hawk as the Ranger Captain then completely ignore the Guard Captains?

Felix.

I was never fully aware of Hawks position, but thought that you usually had a closer link with the Guard than with the rangers. Perhaps I am wrong, and profusely apologise for this. I shall talk to the Guard Captains about this instead.
