The Subudai

Walking with feet bare against the wholesome grasses along the untouched plains northwest of Trinskiril, Sauros gathered a few sprigs of incense and lit it rather quickly with the assistance of his torch and slipped it within his bull's reins and began to pick up pace once more. The growing trail of smoke made the tiresome men and women who trudged behind him feel calm, inspiring them to look about and notice the vast girth of the earth and appreciate another day to live amongst the nature. Sauros runs his rough fingers through the fur of his Wolf as he watches it's eyes stare off into the nighttime sky; the crescent moon casting an aura that made them feel more secure and able to spot any offenders. He scans the horizons and finds a hilly enclave to his right and begins to change his footsteps to begin walking in that direction, nearing hour by hour until they arrive.

Pitching tents with the structure sound with laminated wooden poles from the finest oak and being covered with thick leather skins from the weariest bulls and cows, the Subudai once again find rest under the many stars and the singular moon. The bustle of families securing beds and securing the reins of their livestock at a shoddy cattle post calms Sauros; to see his people frolic in the daily life. He constructs a modest fire pit to cook the gatherings of the young hunter-boys and sends dog scouts; teenage boys and girls atop their wolven mounts to swiftly survey the area. The adults sit in the presence of ever-burning incense, husbands and wives laughing and teasing each other as they eat meals. Sauros heads into his tent early this night, to sit on the pondering thought that he may gather much needed sleep.

Welcome Wayfarers, We are the Mighty and Thunderous Subudai!

- The Subudai are a group of families that have collaborated under the leadership of one Sauros Alanbataar; a warrior-herder who has shown great ambition and potential to ensuring the ways of the Subudai is kept in stone and her people never to be wept of blood. With the knowledge that anyone could come our way across the blue waters of yonder, we keep vigilant that our people do not suffer from the greed of any kind. With this ambition in our hearts and our hands strumming our bowstrings with the melody of a dirge of harps, we shall succeed!

- Having sailed from Aegis as she fell, we have ascertained that we live another day, to fight another day. We are Nomadic, we will be moving from land swath to land swath and ensuring that our own families will feed and drink from the securest of sources and that no man or woman suffers from the other wayfarers who will be traversing the same continent as we!

The Subudai Code of Law

1. The Khagan: He is the Leader of the Subudai as a whole, he leads not only just his tribe, but he is leads where the rest of the tribes will travel and lead them in times that they feel they must go to war. Other than those two situations, the individual tribes will be guided by their Elder or Elderess. Where he sees fit to place camp, all other tribes must obey and plant their feet as so in or around where he so chooses. War Declaration is at his disposal and his disposal only, but he must act in the best interests of each individual Kotan (tribe).

2. The Syrmatae: This is the name of the Elders from each tribe; or Kotan. They delegate the duties of their tribes and decide how they will trade, how they will feed and quench themselves. They will decide what goods they will specifically seek and how to train their children and young men and women. A Man or a Woman can be Syrmatae, in the event in which a male Syrmatae dies, his widow will assume such position. Female Syrmataes who seek to marry must kill atleast five enemies in times of war, this is the only way to seek a remarriage; in which if she does, she will still hold the position.

3. The Culture:

- The Subudai are a very peaceful people, albeit very strong and courageous as well as skilled in both axe and bow. Despite their being able to pose a threat, they choose instead to remain tied to the foundation of their people and act as nomads; respecters of the earth. Being skilled in axe, they produce much work in lumbering and use oak as the basic material to structurally hold up their tents, covering them firmly with dried leather hides and taut wool fibre (brown and white wool) and their skill with the bow makes them good archers and hunters. Livestock is their source of food as well as fishing, farming is only known to keep their livestock fed.

Men and Women are treated equally, both genders are taught at a young age to be capable warriors and hunters, men being treated with a drill-like attitude whilst women are taught to be survival experts and are heralded for being ones who raised the nomadic Subudai from the ground up.

Incense (the 'dry bush' block found in deserts) are very sought after as bringing calming peace to the Subudai and they routinely seek deserts for the Incense as well as cacti for their healing practicalities (the needles serve for 'acupuncture' and the juices are rich in vitamins).

Wolves are also held in high esteem as hunter companions (and if mobcontrol is turned on, they will serve as our mounts, allowing the Subudai to act as 'equine archers')

(More will be posted, this is the preliminary and confirmation that we will be able to implement the 'Steppe Tribe' idea! Post below (besides those who have already sent me private message) if you wish to join!)

If given the choice, what two 'Oriental' cultures/civilizations would you like to be represented in the multi-tribe system of the Subudai?

If we're speaking of the Orient in a traditional sense, I would love to see some Parthian influence.

Parthian considered then, could you tell me why you would like to see such influence, are you interested in joining the Subudai as well?

Ah, I choose the Parthians as the empire and cultural influences captivate my interest. I would be very much interested in joining the Subudai tribe; the potential roleplay seems fresh, something that isn't often attempted in many generic fantasy environments.

Those who wish to preliminarily join, just send me a message of two Oriental Cultures you would think should see implementation first and foremost and give me the backstory and what you feel the Subudai could embody in the future ;) I don't do applications, I want to see some uniqueness right off the bat.

PM en-route.

If I have to choose two cultures, I'd roll with Mongol and Arabesque, a third being Native American. The Subudai would embody a mounted and mobile force to be reckoned with. Strength and honor without bloodlust or greed. Fertility and sanctuary in motion, living off of the land. Communal living, oral tradition, old ladies chewing leather around the bonfire while the children run with the wolves. Men would tell stories of when life was blown into the nostrils of the first wolf mounts, of the great arrow and whip that brought the fires from the sky. They would roll bones and cut the hands off of thieves, laughing over fermented milk. They would ride and die for their Kotan and their people, preserving their way of life not so that it might grow stagnant on the lips of the elders, but so that it might evolve to suit the needs of the progeny, preparing them for the distant lands that lay ahead and the long ride that lies even further beyond.

Sauros Alanbataar lights bushes in incense and allows his tribesmen to raise them upon the roofs of their yurts. Observing the soft cirrus clouds and nothing anvil-like that would cause him to feel it may rain this day, he sends for the youth to travel out in groups. Sauros knows that this day is when he begins to call back all of the Subudai so that they may return to their nomadic ways and congregate for added power and mobility. For far too long have the Kotansmani (Tribesmen) been scattered like seeds from the far-reaching tree, but to organize, he would have to replant them in rows; side by side and easy to gather up.

Meanwhile, the children chant 'North of Salvus lies the camp, the fragrance of incense is the stamp, verily you will find the camp of three yurts, if you see the town of Rienna, surely this asserts you've went too far!'

- To All who have emailed me, if you have not already, give me your Minecraft names and I will add you to the region the camp is protected by, we may revamp the camp as more and more aggregate and we can add 'donator' plots to mine and make the camp capable of growing larger. For those who are interested, shoot me a PM with the two cultures and why you'd be interested in implementing (Make them Oriental ;) ), backstory of your character, what you wish the Subudai to try and evolve, and your MC Name.

Thank You!

[When I say 'the direction is North', I mean the direction you take to walk out the front gate.]
