A New Beginning

[Kayde North 5]

A new shiver racked his body as his hands pulled his dark cloak tighter before adjusting the position of his mask. Though the cold of mountains bit at his skin, Kayde knew that stand it. At least, that is, for now. He had little, but the few wares he did have might get him enough minas to get through the coming days, enough time for him to perhaps find more work. If the signs were anything to go by, he was close. Very close. The path broke away into a stone bridge and great carvings of men stood before him. Kayde stopped, momentarily awed at the great structures.

"Six years on the roads and in the Wilds, and I've yet to see anything so...big. Feh, what have you Salvus?" Kayde shook his head and continued his mutterings as he marched on against the wind, his mind already working to wrap his head around every little detail as his eyes darted to and fro to take everything in. Eventually the way gave to a path between the two towering mountains and Kayde made his way toward what looked to be a city carved into the very rock of the great mountains. Great iron bars blocked his entry, though Kayde eventually noticed a small sign pointing him towards a nearby door that read "Passport Station." Eyebrow raised, he eventually shrugged before making his way in. What harm could a bit of paper do?

The room was noticeably...well, empty. It felt odd and uncomfortable, but Kayde was a dutiful citizen and he did well to abide by the law. He knew that to break it would not be...conducive, shall we put it, to his travels and studies. So he stood next to the counter, waiting. None came, but that did not deter him...someone had to come eventually...right?
