Jarkarll 314 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Blacksmithing and some thoughts Ok to get started, blacksmithing at the moment in my opinion is lacking. Of course there is the benefits of for one being able to repair armor. Then the fact that your not as likely to fail extracting ore from a rock. However there are certain problems I wish to touch on. Skills of a Blacksmith One of my suggestions for this is the fact that said blacksmith's experience with ores and crafting lifesaving armor should increase as his level advances. For instance an adept Blacksmith would know how to craft some decent armor. However it wouldn't be something to brag about. However say your an apprentice and your Mentor could make armor that was worthy of some boasting points. He would perhaps be a Grandmaster Smith. Slowly you would learn. [ Of course I know not all are patient enough to actually RP learning how to smith]. So in other words a smith would have the ability to craft armor that depending on your level the durability, not the protection, would increase. Increasing protection should depend soley on the material used to forge the armor. On another matter a smith would be in charge of extracting the ore and removing all impurities it contains. A smith would know exactly how much coal to put in the furnace to have the impurities as low as possible and not waste anything. In other words a smith would have the chance to get more then one ingot from a ore. However the fact remains that if the Blacksmtith were to make a mistake he could waste some and not reap his harvest. Or if the smith were to not be near all the ore could just go to waste. [ This would make it so that people don't abuse the bug where you walk away and it all has 100% yield chance. On the topic of Levels of blacksmiths, In my opinion only a Legendary Blacksmith should be able to forge a "Legendary" sword or axe. It wouldn't make sense if some apprentice made this masterpiece that would rip through flesh like butter. Too Long; Didn't Read. Blacksmiths crafts should increase in durability with their ability. Blacksmiths should have the ability to obtain double drops from ore. What a blacksmith can craft should depend on their experience level, so Legendary Blacksmiths should be the only ones who can make Legendary weapons. Don't forget to +1 if you agree!
