Ooc: Orc Skins

My home internet's been down for some time now and will be for just a little longer. Since I've got the downtime and brief access to a computer here or there, I figured I'd offer to help with skins. I'm not an expert and I'm limited to Paint and MC Skin Edit, but if you're an orc or close affiliate of the War Uzg and need a skin done or something tweaked on an existing skin, post the image here with a list of what you'd like done and I'll see what I can do. I can hop on and save it to a thumb drive occasionally during the day and work on it when I'm home and lacking yard work and child-rearing.

Doesn't matter if it's an entire skin you need, or just some tweaking, recoloring, shading or a piece of armor. Let me know and I'll see what I can do. We've got some other solid pixel artists among us, including Decolamb and Yahgy, as well, but if they're busy or not up to it, I'm usually willing to throw down on Paint.

And it's free, although if you feel like donating I always accept payment in the form of human skulls.

Thanks, that actually narrows it down a lot better when dealing with skins from scratch. Use that format or something close to it and feel free to add an example picture or a sample of your preferred skin tone under "Other Details".

I can also help out here too. But I'm not really good at doing skins for other people, mostly ones I come up with in my head.

***** please, I suck at skins. I cant do males or stuff like that for ****. Also I reccomend getting paint.net, its great for small things like skins. And then I always use Sai to pick colors and soften edges.

On another note, I want to see what you can do for some skins later when I get home and on the computer. Ill give you the concept art once I clean it up real nice.

I reccomend MC Skin 3d, it allows you to shade, find any color you want, and to toggle on/off parts of the body, allowing ease-of-use and total control over the skin process. It also allows you to animate the skin to see how it will work in motion and such, a VERY useful program for novices all the way to masters.

Did you make your current skin? (Ned_Lud's)

Yeah. It's actually been a work in progress as I'm constantly changing little bits of it at a time. Since I'm limited to Paint, I try to find ways to get the natural shading, so it actually ends up being sort've like a collage of cut and paste and then blending colors by hand. The skulls are from Painterly Pack texture pack. I cropped them up and turned them into armor and decoration. The leather I'm wearing was actually from a 64x64 texture pack. I shrunk it down and cropped it around so that it would look natural. The rest I just did by hand. I usually find images on Google to get colors or textures that I like. I'll find an orc picture and take color samples from the skin, then I'll find a suit of armor and take color samples from that, etc. For the shading I have to do by hand, I just make a palette of various shades on the side using the color editor and go from there. It's probably the most bass ackwards way of doing pixel art, but I've gotten used to it.

Ned, I reccomend using that program he listed McSkin3d, I use it now, 100 times better then any other program and I'm whipping up a bunch of skins for orcs, message me if you would like one I can't garuntee to fill out your request fast or efficently or if it will even be good but my skins are half-decent.
