The town of Mireton

Foreword about the charter

I haven't written the charter completely like the application as I feel it doesn't fit the town.

To be able to make this town, a plot of at least size 100x100 will be needed to accommodate about 15-20 citizens, this due to the rural nature of the town, you'll also read later that I don't desire, and even prefer the region size not to encompass the area down to bedrock, somewhere between y:45 and y:50 should be more than enough due to the nature of the town and the terrain it's build in.

This is why I'd like to request Native, or a different GM to help me with this to make this town possible.

General information and history:

The town of Mireton is a quiet rural village situated in a small bog between two small streams near the forests of Midonia.

It was founded in year 13 of the Second Era by Roger Ithelias. Roger founded the city because he got sick of the large city and the troubles it brought, longing back to the small and peaceful setting of the Sister City where he grew up as a small child.

One of his motivations also is that he wants a good place for his young daughter to grow up, where she's able to walk around an explore the area without being in a big danger.

As the town is situated in a bog, there are a few things the citizens need to keep in mind. One of these things is that you can't build any heavy buildings, as they will sink into the ground,

and the area isn't suitable for mining because of the high level of the groundwater.

Small canals need to be dug to drain the area of the village, to enable the villagers to walk around without sinking into the bog. Even though the village has canals, the rivers can easily flood the area partially sometimes,

ruining everyone's clothes, their floors and the crops but providing new nutrients to the soil. ((GM controlled natural disaster, adds a lot to RP))

The peat in the area does have it advantages, as it is a perfect material to isolate the homes.

The town is ruled by a small group of town elders, which meets in a town hall. All citizens are allowed to watch and listen to the meetings and suggest things to the elders.

((This is mainly to make the decisions and rules clear to the people living in the town, instead of having a group of "invisible" rulers decide everything behind their back))

As the town is situated in Salvus, it will gladly pay a tithe to the Kingdom, as long as the rulers of Salvus don't try to change anything in the small town.

The people of Mireton

The people that live in Mireton are mainly the poor people that couldn't afford anything in Solace, or don't like the big city.

It's people aren't very tolerant to non humans (except halflings), they can stand an elf (if it's something like purely business), but dwarfs and orcs are shunned or harassed.

Only humans and halflings will be able to buy a home in the town, others will be either ignored, or if they look dangerous (8 feet orc for example) they will be told that there are no empty homes left.

The town's people are friendly laid back people that rather not work too much, and spend most of their time sitting in the tavern or walking around the rustic landscape of rolling hills, steadily flowing rivers and dark forests.

Architecture

The town consists of mainly small peat covered homes, giving the town a natural looks. There are a few larger homes and one town hall in the centre of the town.

Preferred location

The perfect location of the town would be in Salvus territory, with approximate coordinates (-800,800) on the dynamic map.

I've scouted the area ingame, and it's the perfect place to build the village.

My character's gonna hate to see you leave Alras, but I support this, and I believe Peper can handle a small rural town.

Well... there's one little problem with that. You're not human or halfling, so you're not really allowed to live in the town.

You can always visit the town though, and maybe we can trade some books then ;)

Well, Dawn denied the charter. She thinks the town can't fill Salvus' coffers with enough coin, and she apparently doesn't like humans living in the land...

Don't understand why anyone calls it a human nation, it's lead by an elf and a large part of its citizens aren't even human.

-Roger Ithelias

((I'll try to find a different location now, but I don't think there are any suitable places left for a human town in a bog. I hope I find a different place for the town but it will be hard.))

I guess she must be an elf, she has been alive since I was born, and I am 300.

I wasn't planning on living there, I said I would be sad to see you and Jane and probably Ahern leave.
