Archmage_Cataris 622 Share Posted February 21, 2012 "My Lord, I would like to make a complaint and petition against the passports. These passports are great for us, though they are so expensive! I had to scrape my entire life savings together and still didn't have enough, I had to rely on my friends to give me the minas. These passports are too ridiculously priced, they are expected to be kept on you at all times, but what if you are injured and lose it? Well then I guess we'll have to buy another! For another ridiculous amount, oh wait, I have a spare? But I can't get into the city to retrieve it because im stuck outside these darn gates! These passports have only been troublesome to many people visiting or living in Hanseti. I would ask of My Lord to either lower the price of these passports drastically, or remove them entirely, for I fear next time I am taken to the monks, I will not have a mina on me to pay for another passport. Some people won't bother buying as house here as when we are taking to the monks they no longer have their passport and cannot pay for a new one, thus losing access to their home they spent thousands on. I have even caught someone trying to murder a friend within the city limits while the guards are too busy handling the gate. You are losing more money paying for this whole passport scheme then you could be earning from economic growth by newcomers here to live. I beseech for My Lord to consider this request. ~Lysle Rigger, Hanseti Gravekeeper." *Here is a list of all signed petitioners*

Archmage_Cataris 622 Author Share Posted February 21, 2012 "But the problem remains, Renatusians can still get in, when I applied for a passport, they never asked such questions, nor would a Renatus spy answer 'Well, golly wolly! I am a spy!' ofcourse not, that's ridiculous. But I am on the verge of packing up shop and leaving, that is if I can actually pay for another new passport this time, or Ill just have to hit the road with my clothes on my back." Sykogenic 1333 Share Posted February 21, 2012 "I agree that the price is too steep, but they do provide protection for the realm. There were many variables that were over looked, such as amount of guards manning the gates, and the upkeep of the areas. (( Not to mention tons of OOC by the gate guards.)) Perhaps the whole idea shoud be re done?"
shields12347 133 Share Posted February 21, 2012 *stand in the near shadows over hearing the complaints of the citizens of Hanseti. Samuel takes a step toward the group, clearing his throat and addresses the people "I do thank you for bringing up this issue in a civil manner and I will take a moment to address all of the issues that I heard discussed in these last few moments. What you fail to understand is once you apply and are approved for a passport your information as well as a detailed drawing of your facial features is recorded in a large book that can be referenced at all times. If your passport is stolen or you drop it in the wilds you do not need to reapply just inquire about getting a new copy of the parchment. Now I hope that will settle the issue of losing your passport and I will move on to the issue of price. The price is not as steep as you say, we haver many people who work in the passport office and we use this money to pay our men who work in the passport office as well as offering health care to our citizens, theatre presentations and protection while within the realm. Ah and I am happy you comment on the issue of spies. Yes of coarse a spy could breach the passport office and may successfully receive their passports but you need to see the bigger picture. What this allows us to do is document their name and appearance in our records. Do you not see? Once the spy is caught we can mark them as a spy in our books and we can successfully banish them from the realm indefinitely! I do again thank you for bringing forth your complaints and if you have any further questions you may speak up now.

shields12347 133 Share Posted February 21, 2012 If you are a full citizen I hope you leave a copy in your home but yes if you are to lose your temporary passport it will cost you a small fee to have it replaced, not as much as the initial purchase however. Sykogenic 1333 Share Posted February 21, 2012 Aye, I am a full citizen. I only ask that not every guard must ask to see our passports. It seems that every time I pass a guard, he must see my passport. But thank you, you have answered all my questions.
Religious_Pie 127 Share Posted February 21, 2012 *Sherlock gathers around the men, pushing forward Ideas, to watch them instantly be either supported, or horribly shot down. He stands just meters away, and after hearing the Hochmeister's words of a Spy being recorded, he thinks to himself.* "But...They could just gain a fake name? It is not hard to forge, or even ask your superior to write you authentication of what you supposedly are...So how do we know what they tell us is true? We have there facial features I guess...but, allot of people tend to wear a mask, and tell them of the mask they were...you may think me a fool for suggesting such a thing, but I have seen it before...I think." *Sherlock presses on through to Timbermaw, making his way to Sorovitz, with a scroll in his left hand, and a book in the other.*
shields12347 133 Share Posted February 21, 2012 As the guards become more familiar with you they will no longer ask to see your passport I can assure you that. Does anyone else have a question to ask?

Canadianwarrior 26 Share Posted February 21, 2012 A fake name only gets them so far. I full and accurate description is also taken down to identify people. Its not like we just ask for names and that is it. This is not just a system for entry into Hanseti. It allows for so much more. It allows us to accuratly track and crimes and potential criminals. It allows us to offer mortgages to our citizens instead of expecting them to shell out thousands of minas up front. ((It also keeps out derpy humans like the one that was running around with a pumpkin on his head out side the maw who wanted in and helps to prevent meta giving the guards something other then a mc name or easilly changed ic name to go by)) The system is complicated and costly I do admit. But it also keeps us safe ((and gives our guards something to do besides yell at those with there helmets on)). It is a worthwhile system and worth the trouble.
