Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Dr__Zed

How old are you?:16

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:Pacific Standard time/USA

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:Definitely

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:I like to see myself as an engineer. Whenever going to a new server, I always attempt to find ways on how to improve it. I also have a fair amount of experience in role playing.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:Up to 20 hours a week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:Role playing is when a group of people come together, and create a story using simply their imagination, as well as any other creative tools at their hands. People who do this will often take on the role of something they couldn't normally do in reality, and act it out to their fullest ability. On the internet, many sites promote role playing in order to improve its community, as well as their overall experience.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:I've role played numerous times. Whether it's on forums, or in more thoroughly designed games, I often take the character I play to heart. However, in some games that aren't generally meant for role playing, I've been told that "I get to into it" in that I can generally take on the part of the character I'm portraying. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, mainly because it livens up most games I play with friends, I can get carried away. Never the less, I feel it should be perfectly appropriate for an RP server like this.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:Meta-gaming is where someone does or says something that can be considered "out of character". A perfect example in Minecraft would be giving someone your coordinates. While this is a helpful feature of the game, if you we're actually playing that role, there would be no real way of you finding your exact location, thus making it seem off. It is typically prohibited in RP's to ensure that everyone stays in character, and there's no ripples in its environment.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: When someone is power-gaming, it is their ultimate goal to maximize a certain stat, or complete an ultimate goal. They will usually try to do this as quickly as possible. This is also looked down upon in role playing server's because it may ruin the fun for others, and power-gaming players will usually pay little attention to storyline, as well as contribute nothing.

What do you expect this server will be like?:Like I said earlier, I have played a few other role playing servers on Minecraft. However, I have never been on a server with more than 100 people which I'm sure can make things much more interesting, as well as a bit more hectic. With a larger amount of people it adds to the even greater number of possibilities my path on this server may take, and I expect many twists and turns along the way.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:Yes, yes i have.Nipl Official, Sim City, MutinyCraft, CraftBoom, Convict, and The Vault. The only one of these servers I "left" is The Vault". On every other server, I do come on on a regular basis and help out as much as I can since I've achieved high ranks on most. I left The Vault, which was my previous role playing server, because there were issues with the server's owner and they had to close it down. I like to have a variety in servers I play on, and I've been needing a new RP server, so I thought I'd look some up. This was near the top of the list, and easily caught my eye.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:Yes I do.

How did you hear about us?:Minestatus

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?:Not yet, I feel I should at least check out the server before voting.

In-Character:

Character Name:Dr.Zed,but people just call me Zed.

What Race are you?:Human, can't you tell?

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):No sub-race, use to belong run with the Traveling Merchants though..

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I grew up in a small camp. Raised by merchants, and was constantly on the move. I picked up many skills, but the few I'm most proud of is my silver tongue, and my skills in medicine. While my medical finesse isn't the best, I did pick up a lot from wanderers who passed through our camps. Of course, no one has a real fairy tale the way i see it, pack of raiders stormed my camp when I was just sixteen. We were able to survive until they lost interest, but my parents, and many other people I had grown up with were dead. I knew it was dangerous to always be on the move through the wilds, so I felt it was best to pack up and leave the camp. Maybe practice the skills I picked up and start a different life in a nearby town.

At least a two decades has passed since then. Still remember that day as if I had just left camp too. Sure my plans to settle down in a some small village, and lead a simple life away from those..savages hasn't worked out like I planned, but hey? Who am I to question my nomadic instincts? I still go from town to town to this day, practicing my talents whenever I can. Trading stories with others as I go from city to city. Not really sure what fate has planned for me other than that though. Maybe I'll finally find somewhere I can truly call home. Perhaps I'll meet up with those raiders who caused me so much mental anguish so many years back, and be able to seek my revenge. All I know is that no one gets a fairy tale life, lets just hope I can make this story a happy ending.

What is your Character's ambitions?:To find a place I can actually call home. To seek vengeance for my parent, my friends, and the rest of the innocent lives that were lost during that attack. To truly master my medical skills as well sharpen my ability to persuade others with nothing more than a few words. But most importantly, to make something of myself, do something I'll be remembered for, and make sure this grim tale has a happy ending.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):I'm personally a pacifist. I have no taste for violence, always figured that quarrels could be settled with words. Don't get me wrong though...If there's one thing I can't stand it's disrespect. It's a two-way path ya' know, and words can be a powerful thing. You disrespect me or someone i care about, and I'll be sure to have a sword at the ready. Words can only solve so many issues after all.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?Medicine and speech.

Other Information about your Character:

Open-Response-Questions

I've been able to vent most of my rage for raiders off on others by exchanging stories, but that doesn't mean I've forgotten. Hearing others misfortunes only makes my inner-rage build up even further. Luckily I am not short tempered, when I do crack and can tend to be a bit serious. There have been occasions where I've blacked out with and awoken in the midst of the wilderness with no memory of what happened before.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? *As I force myself in between the boy and the guards.* What's this? Men of great prowess ganging up on a defenseless traveler.*I nudge the kid a few steps back as I step closer to the armed men.* I hope you men understand that thievery is a crime punishable by law, their are bound to be guards nearby. Perhaps they're even watching you right now, waiting to follow you as to not cause a scene. *The halfling begins to shuffle away, but I've managed to draw both warriors attention.*I suggest you men be on your way before you cause to much of a fuss. Who knows they might even just sentence you two to death, and we wouldn't want that now would we? *By this time the young man has managed to flee the scene, and I've been able to pick out a few guards in the crowds of people looking our way.* You two look like strong men, you shouldn't have to stoop so low to make some small cash. *As I start to walk away mockingly.* I wouldn't try anything funny, theirs two guards about twenty paces behind you.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I Haven't much on me, but I was curious if you'd be interested in an exchange of services. You see I'm a bit of a traveler, and I've made my way through many cities, learning of different races and their lore. To be blunt, I have no interest in any of your wares, for I'm generally on the move and have no need for many material possessions. However I'm sure it can get a bit tiresome working in a stall everyday, seeing the same townspeople everyday, with the occasional traveler. Maybe we could help each other out. You aid me in my quest of knowledge, and I entertain you with some stories I've come across.*We spend the rest of the evening exchanging tales, and I learn a fair amount about the city. He tells me about a local inn and suggests that I go their saying he sent me. This gets a meal, and a place to stay for the night, where after I continue my journey.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: The hut strangely reminds me of my old camp. Of the horrors that took place there. I see the faces of each pillager, and hear the screams of the innocent. The anger which fills my body send me into a blind rage I send my fist nearly through the wall in front of me. I manage to snap out of it and realize what I've done. Not only have I intruded, but I've damaged someone's property. As I begin to leave the house, I set a loaf of bread as well as a few coins on a table, in hopes that it may make up for the small destruction I caused.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Just moments after being greeted by the camp's leader I instantly recognize him. It's been many years but I remember our two camps crossing when I was a boy. He was just a young man training to become the leader of his camp. I tell him my story and he looks as if he instantly remembers me too. He's shocked by the stories of what happened to our camp and Is sorry for the loss of my parents. He offers me food and a place to stay for the night, which I gladly accept. He tells me that they've had a few run-ins with bandits but nothing to serious. He also tells me which areas he remembers being attacked by, which gives me a clearer idea of where the raiders who destroyed my village may be. The next morning, I thank him for his hospitality, and go on my way in the direction of a nearby town near a bandit camp to find more information on them.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I speak to one of the lower ranking guards, asking that I talk to their leader, and after they check me for any weapons I'm allowed into his office. I tell him that I will be more than willing to help, and of my ties with bandits in the past. I also offer my medical skills to any of his men who may be wounded during this attack. Finally I insist that they keep their money, knowing that a pack of bandits being cleared out is satisfaction enough. However, when they tell me that it's regulation that hired mercenaries receive some payment, I inform him that a place to stay over night, and a meal is all I require.
