Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Leonidas8227882

How old are you?: I am 14 years old. I am turning 15 in June.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: USA, Eastern Coast, -5 GMT

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, I most certainly do. However, I sometimes make mistakes even when I re-read my work.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Every day I read the Wheel of Time series I have in my room. I also have a small manual that teaches HTML in 24 hours. On the side, I also play Indoor paintball every weekend.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I can spend anywhere from 20 – 30 hours playing on this server weekly.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying means to pretend to be someone else, trying to make whatever he/she is doing as real as possible. So if someone is in battle, he/she can describe himself sweating and then trying to take a swing. If someone is a beggar and needed food, the beggar would probably ask for food in a hoarse, sad voice.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have had a little bit of experience in roleplaying on two different servers. In both I set up trade outposts or became adventurers. However, when I ran out of food in towns and didn’t have the money, I would often become a beggar and beg for food in a pleading tone.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is when you use OOC things to take advantage of someone else IC. This could mean using a mod, taking someone hostage with some Real Life Personal secret that he/she will expose if he/she doesn’t do what he is told, or just simply cheating.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is when you make a fight or something else go one sided. This means like using a force-field so all hits bounce off or just jumping someone without notice.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it to be filled with adventure, fights, and RP. This server, I expect I will find an adventure that will last years.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I cannot remember their names, but I’ve played on many servers. I’ve played on over 7 Faction PVP servers that I left because I got bored or frustrated. I have also played on two RP servers as a merchant, thief, adventurer, or beggar but they also got boring. The main reason why I left those two servers was because they were so small that I couldn’t find enough people to interact with.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, they are all very reasonable.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Indeed. I would never break rules here!

How did you hear about us?: I was looking for a new Minecraft server on Minecraftforum.net and I found this.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: Yes I did, my vote is 811.

In-Character:

Character Name:Axelson

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I am a pure bred human. I am not a dwarf, nor an elf or orc.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

When I was born, I was born in a cottage in The Kingdom of Oren near a city. My mother and father owned a small farm. Every day we struggled, barely getting by with what little we made. We wore dirty rags and at night, when it grew cold, we would all sleep in one bed.

When I turned 17, I was able to help with the farm more so that we didn’t struggle so much. I was ruggedly handsome with even eyebrows and dark brown hair like my mother but still in rags. I was usually kind unless forced to use violence. My eyes were brown and we often had fights among the family since I turned 17. The reason was that I was doing all of the work for them and they wouldn’t even lend a small helping hand. I even had to cook my own dinner after I did all the work for them. They wouldn’t help me at all. Instead they would go out to the nearby town and buy alcohol. When I turned 18, I left the farm to get away from my family. With me, I brought a sword I saved up for secretly and some food. I decided to head to the Kingdom of Salvus in hopes of finding happiness and love. Maybe I would also find an adventure along the way.

Upon my travels, I met children begging in which I would spare what little food I had. However, when some people tried to steal my food or belongings, I would yell at them to give it back. If they didn't, I killed them after saying "Since you won't give it back, I will have to take it back*. I also met a couple of bandits in my travels to the Kingdom of Salvus trying to rob others or me. When they would attack others, I would tell them to leave or else. Most times I had to fight and I gained many wounds. I also gained a tan for traveling so much across the lands and a beard for not shaving. When I had to cross the desert, I didn't have enough food and water to survive the journey so I asked one of the traders that were crossing over, to give me a lift. They agreed and I hopped on their wagon.

The travel didn't go so well though. While traveling, a huge group of bandits attacked us. Our wagon was destroyed and there were few survivors. The remaining survivors blamed it on me and took their own path while I took a path I thought would lead to Salvus. Luckily, it did. However, as soon as I reached the other side of the desert, I collapsed with exhaustion. I thought I was gunna die then and there but thankfully, a man picked me off the road.

He gave me food and shelter over the next couple of days. In those couple of days, I found out he works in a mine and that his young boy died ten years ago. He said that I looked just like him. When I asked what happened, he said the Orcs killed him in Oren. He was sad for the old man.

Now, after a week of rest and recovery, he gave me some bread and a red cloak to keep me warm at night. I began helping him with mining once I recovered as thanks. When I left, I left with a pickaxe he granted me for helping him mine, a red cloak, and some bread.

I am now 19 years old. It took me one year to travel to Salvus. Along the way, it has given me a tan and frizzled my hair. I got to choose my way carefully now that I am in Salvus. A new adventure awaits me now!

What is your Character's ambitions?: His ambition is to help make and preserve peace in the Kingdom of Salvus. He also has a small thought of making a place of peace.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): His favorite tool is the pickaxe because it is what the man used that saved him.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? He most skilled at mining and farming due to his many days working in both fields. He is also a fair traveler as long as he doesn’t mind begging.

Other Information about your Character:

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

He steps towards the bandits and says, “Leave that poor fellow alone!” The bandits laugh and menacingly walk forward. However, he doesn’t back down and instead draws his sword he just bought and takes the stance of a trained swordsman in hopes of scaring them away. It works and he makes the bandits leave and then he turns to the Halfling and confirms that he is ok.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

“Well hello there! Are you selling new pickaxes”, he asks while showing his broken pickaxe.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: He feels that stealing is wrong, though there is vast wealth. He slowly turns away, makes sure there is no one around the hut to steal anything, then leaves.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

“Greetings! May I have some food and somewhere to sleep safely here? I have some money to pay for it”, he said holding out a handful of coins. The traders agree and take the money, giving him both food and shelter.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

“ I will take this job! The world cannot have filth like bandits running around!” he said with his sword high in the air! The crowd, watching, cheers for his bravery and give him a little food for the task.

Denied

There are multiple reasons why I have denied you, and I shall list them all and some reccomendations for you.

Your definition of metagaming is incorrect.

What you have described there is hacking, blackmail and cheating. While metagaming is a form of cheating, it is neither of the previous two. I believe you have mis-read or mis-interpreted the definition, I reccomend doing some further research by Googling, joining our Team Speak channel or looking on the Lord of the Craft wiki.

Your definition of powergaming is incorrect.

What you have written is half correct, but you are not all the way there. Using a forcefield could be RP'd and is not strictly powergaming, and "just jumping someone without notice." is more like attempted no-rp killing (which powergaming is not). Alike to my previous response, I suggest Team Speak, Google or our wiki.

Your biography needs a little improvement.

While I like the general idea, the lore you have used is outdated. Something happened to Oren (you must research this) and then something happened to everyone. As the current year in the game is around 17/18 your lore would not make much sense, and would take place in Asulon rather than Aegis.

I understand if you do not make any sense of what I just told you, so here is my reccomendation: Read the lore of the server. This includes reading the wiki, and the forums searching for any pieces of information to help you make sense of my feedback. I can also reccomend going to Team Speak and asking an experienced user about what happend to Oren etc.

The screenshot of your skin is in the wrong format, and I disagree it.

Personally I do not feel it makes any sense what so ever. You are wearing a loin cloth and a red cape...

I feel as if you just tried to make an excuse to be able to wear the Leonidas skin, which is unacceptable on this server. If you would like a reason as to why this skin is not acceptable read this: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/45272-leonidass-application/page__view__findpost__p__334959

Also your screenshot/s are not embedded into your application.

Please embed your screenshot into your application. While this may take an extra few minutes, what is a few minutes to the countless hours you could potentially spend on this server! It is so easy too. Here is how it is done...

1.Go to the link you have provided (you have given an ample screenshot, so we shall skip the "Getting the image" and "Uploading it" phases) and right click on the image, select "Copy Image Location"

2.Go to your new application and select "Insert Image". It should have the icon of a little tree in a photoframe, and will be next to the "Inset Link" button, and underneath the "Text Color" button.

3.Paste into the textbox (as you have copied the image's location).

4.Select "Insert Image" and voilà! You are done.

Your open response answers are far too short and lacking in RP.

Your first question is done pretty lazily, two fully armed bandits would not walk away from a lone warrior. They can run away, but make it believeable, and write a full paragraph.

The rest of them are just... no. You need to write a paragraph for each and everyone one, in FULL RP. Use a lot of description and be as creative as you can, no sloppy lazy: "He would buy this item, pay the shopkeeper and leave."

Please wait 24 hours or your application will be instantly denied.

This gives you a chance to have a cup of tea and read all of which I have provided, then give you a break and a fresh mind to re-write your application in the required areas. This is also to prevent the spamming of applications, as if there was no limit we would be absolutely swamped with applications.

Please do send a PM my way if you are having any trouble understanding the application process or my feedback, I would be glad to help you. :)

Good luck for your next application!
