Minecraft Account Name:

How old are you?:

31

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

Pacific Standard Time/United Sates of America

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

As much as it changes, I believe I do.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I admit that I am jovial; always ready to make a joke or laugh at someone else's. I prefer honesty over sweeping something under the rug, even if the view conflicts with my own. I love to learn.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

It varies on the week but I think I would modestly spend about 10-20 hours a week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

My definition of roleplaying is stepping outside of your own wants, needs, and desires, and empathetically placing yourself into those same attributes of someone else.

A good roleplayer can take the most vanilla of characters, for example "Jerry the human from Nowheresville", and enjoy living out those experiences as much as "Sir Dragon Dwarf King of the Deepest Deep". That being said, variety can also be the spice of life. Not to contradict myself, but the reason I roleplay is because I don't want to play out washing the dishes or doing the laundry. I roleplay for those moments that would never happen in my own reality. To roleplay is to experience an exciting narrative not my own.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I have roleplayed both tabletop and digitally although the bulk of my experience is on the digital side. I RP'd on Neverwinter Nights for a number of years. I have DM'd although I prefer to simply play.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Well, briefly, it is unfair access to information.

Metagaming involves information outside the realm of a character I experience. For example, Todd the miner may not know that Biff the smith needs more ore. Todd would not go out of his way to bring necessary ore to Biff if he had no reason outside his normal routine. If Biff's player called TOdd's player over the phone and said he wanted more ore and Todd's player brought Biff some ore, with information outside of Todd's realm of knowledge, Todd's player metagamed (with no help from Biff's player).

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

My previous understanding of this definition comes from another type of playing completely. This server considers powergaming in a more tabletop sense. After some reading I understand the following ideas. Producing results without proper roleplay yields power-gaming. When a player assumes that his/her actions automatically succeed without an attempt at the actions, that is power-gaming. This is disruptive to roleplay as it does not allow another player a chance for reaction and it often assumes that a player has automatically succeeded in their attempt. Powergaming allows a player to unrealistically overpower another without roleplaying the event out.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

If the staff has placed as much time preparing and moderating the server as they have preparing the world's background, I can expect to see nothing less than a very detailed and orderly setting with political intrigue and player involvement. From the application process, I can expect other players who are thoughtful and expressive. Overall I expect that people who play here want to be a part of a narrative that is expansive, entertaining, and involving.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I assume you mean other Minecraft servers. Currently I play on a friend-of-a-brother-in-law's-server but it has no back story or any other motivation besides mining and building. I am not exactly "leaving" them but I am looking for an immersive experience in Minecraft apart from the usual "mine...smelt...drop...mine..."

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

I have read the "Law & Guidelines" and I understand, accept, and whole-heartedly agree with them.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

I so promise.

How did you hear about us?:

I heard about you by looking at other minecraft textures. I ran across the "Realism Mod" which mentioned your server. After checking it out, I was sold.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?:

I have not as of yet. It will help me to actually play the server to do so, methinks. To vote for something I in turn would rather not vote for, I would lie to myself and the server. Though I have high expectations, I would like to maintain integrity.

In-Character:

Character Name:

Qaton Dribbledew

What Race are you?:

Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Halfling

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

For most every other race, growing up much shorter than a corn's stalk can prove one as stunted. In Dunwood, it's the norm. Qaton was very young when Samuel Bealcrest and Reynard Lycian took power and, like many others in Dunwood, he could care less about either one. Growing up in hills and farms, surrounded by ales and pies, cakes, baked dishes, fried foods, rich stews, and the like, Qaton has instead been taught to farm, to harvest, and what plants to avoid. Let us not forget that he is highly trained in eating as well. Now, it may not seem like a coveted position to you, perhaps, but for Qaton, being the son of a farmer was high praise indeed. It was the tutelage of his ol’ man that gave him skills in soil-craft. It was his mother, the baker, who taught him to throw. You would not think that throwing and baking go hand in hand but if you would come to her shop you would find that she could throw a piece of dough from across the room and land it square on your tongue. With practice, Qaton learned to take aim at a distance. In fact, he even used his skills in scaring off fearless crows.

The Dribbledew parents grumbled as much as the rest, especially at the Dunfest. Petyr Brandybuck may be wise in bringing income into their little community but the number of outsiders coming in and the sheer business that disrupts the serene quiet moments in the Dun’ is certainly enough to make one wonder if Petyr Brandybuck was wise. That being said, for Qaton the Dunfest was fascinating. He saw all sorts of tallfolk, sometimes even elves, and they had such stories. These festivals planted a small seed of wanderlust. It would be crazy for Qaton to ever leave and yet, he could not help to wonder, “What if..”

Of most Kingdoms, Qaton has no information. When the Kingdom of Oren splintered into the three pieces it is today, the people of the Dunwood remained unmoved. When Galahar fell to the undead, when that vast city migrated to Kal’Urguan, not a tear was shed in the Dunwood. When Eze’kiel stepped down from the throne in the West allowing Reynard Lucian to assume power, there was no one to tell Qaton of such matters who. And the same goes for the frozen eastern kingdom. No tears for Gaius Marius at his passing. No cheers for Samuel Bealcrest at his coronation. Life in the Dunwood continued to carry on as it had for so many years. So Qaton carried on like the rest of Dunwood oblivious to much of the intrigue and cunning of the outside world.

Qaton's eyes are the color of a rich red ale, probably from his old Dwarven heritage. His brown hair also has somewhat of the same crimson tinge. He is about eighteen seasons old although no one ever really kept track. Probably from his ancient human ancestry, his skin color is a summered peach and, if he keeps to his diet, should be near as plump. As interested as he is about the outside world, he would be foolish to leave. He knows he has family, food, home and everything he loves. He is not one for danger. In fact he avoids conflict where he can and that is not hard to do in Dunwood. Some might label him a coward but he feels he is being honest about his size and abilities.

What is your Character's ambitions?:

Qaton has experienced no place more amiable or comfortable than his life in Dunwood. His first thought of the day usually includes something with eggs, a loaf of jammed toast, bacon, an extra slice of ham, a slab of butter, a glass of breakfast wine alongside his mug of milk, and maybe what he is going to have for lunch. Along with food, Qaton would most like to maintain this way of life unless circumstances change his disposition. His plans for the future include working on the farm and maybe getting married down the line. He enjoys sharing what he has and he does what he can to cheer people up when they are feeling low. Maybe it’s from having cheery parents or the overall ambiance of Dunwood. Although he does have a touch of wonder for the outside world. Some small part of him considers taking to the road and living as a part of the bardic tale he has heard.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

His most favorite tool is a toss-up between the fork, as it can be used to both hold meat with its many prongs as well as be used to scoop sauce if properly crafted, and a good hoe that produces perfect rows of earth.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Qaton is most skilled in farming although his ability to strike things from a distance is very near as good.

Other Information about your Character:

He has a penchant for history although it has not been developed, especially since it has not been well stressed in his life. He might never leave Dunwood on his own volition but he might also be more brave than he knows.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Not being totally dull to his stature nor his lack of prowess with most weapons, Qaton considers his options. “If they’d go for one Halfling, they might not shy from picking on two.” He looks in his inventory for a sling and some nearby stones. “Even if I hit one, I probably won’t be able to hit two…” His brow furrows because he knows deep down he is too afraid to do anything. He goes to gather some healing herbs and watches from a safe place for a moment when the threatened Halfling is alone.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

"Greetings!" Qaton replies as he turns his head in the direction of the merchant. "Since you asked, I only wonder if you have a few things. First, do you have a leg of lamb? What sort of spices would you include with that? Is it cooked? If so, how long and what sort of heat did you use? What sort of pastries do you have? Are any of them filled? Do they have frosting? What varieties of ale do you have? How many different kinds? While we're on the topic, do you have wheat beer? What about lagers or stouts? Also, do you have chicken? Quail? Beef? Any kind of jerky? What sort of wine do you have? Red or white? Is it dry or sweet?

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Qaton enters slowly into the hut. “It might look abandoned but maybe it’s a ruse.” Finding himself in such dire need to go hunting through abandoned homes, with luck he spies a chest. Nervously he approaches, sweat begins to bead on his brow. He takes another gander around himself and seeing the coast as clear, he slowly opens the chest. The hinges creak as it opens and he grimaces at the noise. To his surprise he spots a golden sword and some iron bars. “What luck!” he thinks to himself. He runs the fattest part of his chubby finger along the golden blade and quickly regrets it. “Sharp!” He brings his blooded finger to his mouth to clear away the blood and sting. “I’m taking too long!” He yells at himself. As fast as he is safely able he wraps the blade in any extra cloth he has and places the bounty in an extra bag. Carefully he makes his way out of the hut and does his chunky best not to be seen.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Having found himself in such distress, being eaten by the hunger gnawing at his gut, Qaton finds it hard to focus. The fact that this might be a trading camp and that they speak common is lost to all but food and sleep. Even so, his instinct for a full meal kick in with his nose leading the way. He tries not to be rude to any who greet him but there are more pressing matters, food being the most. After he makes his way to the nearest butcher or baker, he tries to assess his inventory. He wants to plop his whole bag on the counter and take all he can get but that small voice of reason keeps him from being beyond rash. He takes in a deep breath, filling his lungs with wonderful odors, and takes measure of his wealth. Raggedly, he approaches the nearest tradesman and does his halfling best to barter a proper meal.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Standing with others from the village Qaton hears the call for help, “All who assist the guard shall be rewarded.” Qaton scratches his neck nervously knowing that in battle he is next to useless. Suddenly a thought occurs to him. He does want to help but he certainly can’t swing a weapon. “I uh..” He coughs to clear his anxious throat. “I can help but not with arms.” “What good are you?” a guard responds. “I can offer supplies. I have food and drink. I could give you bread that would keep you full all day.” It might not be what they are looking for, but at least he can help. Maybe a reward would be worth some more farm land in the end.

2. Read up on current Asulon lore....hint....dunwood was in aegis...

3. Add the gained information from the 2 above points to your app, and you should be golden

you may reapply in 24 hours, I look forward to reading your revised application
