Beary 0 Share Posted April 1, 2012 Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: cxc999 How old are you?: 18 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: -8 GMT United States of America Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: English is my first language and I have completed all 4 years of high school. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a musician and have a creative personality. I enjoy long walks on the beach and I very much dislike dead beats. *Winks at Dash_Rogers* How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Right now I can't afford to be that active these days, I have a lot of gigs to go and perform at, but usually when ever Dash_Rogers is on, I will be on. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I have not had much experience with any kind of dungeons and dragons or larping sort of stuff, but I have preformed in Theatrical productions, mostly SNL type of skits so I know how to improvise and take on a role. My definition would be, to playing a part in a story and reacting to situations how your character would do so. To add to that, when you roleplay, one must give others a chance to react to your actions and show your intention instead of just doing it. Emote that your are getting aggressive towards someone, don't just attack right off the bat. In minecraft, we have to work with what we have, and thats a blocky non animated face, so to fix that, we emote everything we do that can't be seen in-game such as facial expressions, your body in relation to the environment as well as posture. In terms of RP fights without pvp involved, people need to look at the big picture and play fair for the good of the story. Not everyone can win and must accept losses at times. Say you get into an RP fight, you both can't be constantly dodging one another attacks and both hitting strong attacks, it does not work. Take turns and build. You can use strong attacks, but that will always throw you off balance and make you vulnerable, and if you use weak jabs all the time, the other player has the right to recover quickly or not take any damage at all. There is a fine line between powergaming and a winning match in an RP fight, its up to you and your opponent to know what your getting into, talk out in PM's what your characters strength and weakness are so you can come to an agreement of who should win but also let your imaginations fly and just decide the victory based on who had the most detail and attacks that make the most sense. RP fights are really a battle of the pen. No need to rage and trying to win to be the top of the leader boards because there is no such thing. Accept a lose if its logical. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Like I said, when I was a younger kid, Dash and I took improve classes together and often after school we would often play games that involved role play and making up imaginary worlds. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Breaking the fourth wall, but opposite. Like in a horror film, you see the girl undressing and going into a dark room and your shouting in the theater, "DON'T DO IT! DON'T GO IN THERE HE WILL KILL YOU!" If the girl were to hear me and use that information to save her life, she would be meta-gaming. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Having something no else can get that gives you an overpowered advantage, like making lore up out of thin air about some powerful relic that grants you the ability to kill anyone on a whim. Also, when role playing, each player has to play within their characters boundaries. If your character is not a fighter, then he will lose to a fighter if they got into a fight and the fighter character would not be considered power gaming cause that is just his character. What do you expect this server will be like?: Story driven minecraft experience. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Random servers, just joining and leaving cause they are all the same. I hosted my own Hamachi for me and Dash, but we want to see awesome builds and a fun community. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: That I do. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I do. How did you hear about us?: Dash_Rogers Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: Yes I am vote number 4,253 Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Mountain Dwarf Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Born during the days of Aegis on year 1299, he was raised into a life of hard labor, but that was normal dwarf family life. They did not work hard because they were poor, but because that is their families culture and how they raised strong children. Beary learned, like his brothers and sisters, at a fast paced and early age. They learned everything they needed to know and more about mining, excavation, construction and engineering. Beary himself enjoyed everything he learned. He become very strong, smart and efficient at his work. His entire childhood was spent, working with his family building great constructs and devices for the mountain community they lived in near Kal'Urguans capital city in Aegis. The one thing he enjoyed more than engineering was food. Every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner, were great feasts, fit for kings. The mountain village he lived in was simple and peaceful. Work was play, so the people worked everyday and when they did not work, they feast. When Beary came of adult age, he did as most his siblings did, took leave to provide their services to the world. Beary left, fully supplied for the life ahead of himself with the only knowledge of how to build, break and explore. He did not learn how to fight, and he did not learn to read or write. One of the first humans he met during his young adult days, was a man by the name of Dash Rogers. The two met working on a construction job together near Winterfell. They would always take lunch breaks together, heading over to the nearby tavern to drink everything the place had in stock and sing or tell tall tales of adventures they never experienced. The two became best friends, but parted simply because of the separate heading of their quests. That was the times before his world burned. The undead have finally decided to advance across the over world, taking over one or two nations at a time. Beary got word that his small home village had fallen with the rest of the Dwarven capital and his family moved to the Verge. He did the very same before the champions took the fight to them. When Beary passed though the portal, it did not take long till he found his family again. His parents were ancient now but nearly everyone else was there. Uncles, aunts, second cousins, just about the whole mountain village was here and of course, working on the escape cruisers. He joined right in. The ship they worked on was the first vessel to reach completion and the first to set out, from what he could tell. It was a long voyage and at one point, it seemed that time stood still. Soon enough, they reached the massive continent of Asulon! Many dwarves were lost, and their family broken so it was only logical for everyone to go to Karik together. There he lived, till once again, it was burned down and had to evacuate once more. His family now lives on the road, nomadic people, still they find a suitable mountain plot to start up again. Beary is now a fairly aged dwarf, but because of his healthy lifestyle, he remains strong and youthful. His cloths are made of hard tanned cow hides, much like that of a barbarian or some may compare it to an orcs attire. What is your Character's ambitions?: Make his family proud, give his services to the world and explore its deepest caverns and uncover all of its secrets. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): 'Galleon' His great pickaxe. On one side is the exaggerated, thick spiked, pick while on the opposite is a grand cleaver. It shines in the most peculiar manor. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Building, inventing, engineering, and excavating. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): Other Information about your Character: He is a very curious dwarf, and like all of his kin, can get greedy over little things. He is not much of a hot head, but if he can break a stone with his muscles, he can surly knock you silly if he really wanted, or if he gets drunk enough. Beary is not the ugliest of dwarfs, but he really is not the pick of the litter. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Beary Winespit is not a fighter, but he comes from a family with morals and knows right from wrong. He will intervene, but never fight. Beary is a tough dwarf who can take a lot of hits and that's his plan, just hold them off long enough for the halfling to get away. "Oi, what do ya think yerr doin?! What kinda man steals from a halflin?" They would likely respond telling Beary to bug off. and if they don't stop Beary would put his body in the way of the offenders and the halfling, drawing his golden pickaxe/axe. The sight of it would hopefully scare the bastards off. If not, it's a trip to cloud temple hopping the halfling ran away. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? "I was wonderin who your supplier be? I can provide many wares for you at the cheapest prices. Be it rare or common ores, or you need help upgrading your shop here, I'm lookin for work." From this interaction, this shop keep and Beary would become close business partners working off of each other until their names are known as the most successful business in the city. It may so happen that the man does not the dwarfs help and instead talks down to him because the merchant is just trying to swindle Beary because beary looks uneducated and barbaric. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Bearys dwarven greed would take hold of him and he would take the wares. The gold sword he can scrap for its resources, and the iron he can use for work. He is not a thief, but he would do the same if he found an abandoned mineshaft with chests of loot. If it were worth something to the owner, it would not be here for my taking. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "My name is Beary Winespit, I hail from the Mountains of Kal'Urguan. I come to you today in need of food and direction. I am willing to pay you in labour, will you take me in?" He would kneel before the campers waiting for their response. If they don't accept him in and tell him to get his own food, then Beary would brunt his hunger pains and move on in the direction they most likely told him to go in order to get back to the Cloud Temple. If they do accept him in, he would most likely do up their village quite nicely, living with them for a time and creating a strong relationship with the people. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: "I cannot offer my abilities as a warrior, but I can construct your defenses and repair your equipment." How could the partly leader deny him? He would accept his services without question. Beary would get to work straight away in case the bandits trick the warriors and go right to the town. By that time, Beary would have constructed great gates and walls with automated arrow dispensers and be the hero without even swinging a sword.
