Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: gamer9726

How old are you?: 14

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: United States

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a person who loves to read and play video games in my spare time. My favorite types of books are medieval fantasy, and the same goes for videogames.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I’m going to say 18 hours

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: To me, roleplaying is viewing the world totally through the eyes of your character and immersing yourself in the fictional world around you.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I’ve played on the Road to Ages server

I host my own roleplay server (Don’t worry, it’s for me and some of my friends and I’m not here to advertise)

I have briefly played on a world of warcraft roleplay server, but it really was not a roleplay server because of the many people who did not know how to roleplay

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Metagaming is using outside knowledge to make decisions in game.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Powergaming is creating situations where other players do not have a chance to react. Example: Two people are roleplaying a bandit attack. One person types *Kastor unsheathes his sword and decapitates John, breathing heavily as John's body falls to the gravel road*. This is powergaming because he did not give John a chance to react to Kastor unsheathing his sword and attack him.

What do you expect this server will be like?: To be honest, I do not know, because the roleplay servers I have played on have smaller communities. This server has many slots and is sometimes full, and from what I’ve seen the world map is huge. Because of this, I am excited because it will be a much more realistic environment if it takes real minecraft days to travel in between cities, for example.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on Road to Ages before, as well as my own server. I still play on my server, but it is a smaller community and I wanted to see what it was like to Roleplay with a much larger community. I left Road to Ages because for new players, it was very hard to start roleplaying because of the vastness of the world and the smaller amount of players.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, I do

How did you hear about us?: I’m not sure actually. I remember finding out about Lord of the Craft a long time ago, but I have only just thought about signing up.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: No, I have not.

In-Character:

Character Name: Kastor De Flourentis

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): None

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Many men fight with a sword. The stereotypical ranger fights with a bow. Some use magic to achieve their ends. Everybody knows that Orcs are the best axe users. I am different. I am a man of words. Words are my weapon. My story starts during the end of the destruction of Aegis. My parents always said that I was a bad omen, to be born in such a time. I believe that it has only strengthened me. I know that I did not help fight the destruction, but for a baby to survive that must be an incredible feat. Villages fell by the day. Every time I think of how much my parents mistreated me, I remember the first months of my existence, where they risked everything for me, and I forget all the mistreatment I received from them. Although I believe that the experience has strengthened me, I also believe that it has scarred me. I have always tried to stay away from violence, and I don't tell many people this, but I have nightmares, with visions of fire, pain, and death. My baby cradle burning as it was smashed in half by an undead...

In Asulon, my family set up a plot in the wilderness where they grew crops, sometimes selling bread them to traveling merchants or citizens in the nearby capital. I never liked the farm. I was lonely, always cooped up in my room reading books or playing with my pet wolf outside.

When I was of age, I left my boring house life to live in the city. My parents gave me some money, a badly made wooden sword, and some food, and sent me on my way. I lived less than a mile from Arethor, and that was the first place I went. I traveled to the slums and went to a bar, after an unsuccessful attempt to get a job as a blacksmith's apprentice. The job never interested me anyway... At the bar, I listened to what the people were saying, and how depressed their voices sounded. They sounded resigned, as if they would never leave the slums. Every night I went to that bar, not to get drunk, but to remind myself of what I never wanted to become. Eventually I was able to rent a small room in an inn, and I could keep paying the innkeeper to stay there as long as I needed to. I kept on reading books, I practiced speech and wordplay, practicing my skills to persuade people on various shopkeepers. Of course, it did not always work, but it was fun to toy with them. Eventually, I became bored with my life, and I left the inn, leaving my friends I had made behind. I decided to visit my parents again, to tell them that I had a moderate amount of money and that I was not living too badly. I remembered where our old house was, but when I returned, my heart dropped. There was fire, everywhere. Part of the house had just collapsed. It had recently been attacked, probably that morning. I searched the house, protecting myself from the fire but not always succeeding. I emerged from the house with many burns and bruises, as well as a sheet of paper. The word help was hastily written on it, followed by a red smear. That is where my story begins.

What is your Character's ambitions?:

My ambition is to find my family. Although they did not give me everything I wanted, they went out of their way to protect me when I needed them most, and for that, I thank them.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

Hmm... this is a hard one... I would say a book is my favorite tool. If that doesn't count, I would say flint and steel. Nothing like a good fire to cause a distraction.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Convincing people to do things and getting information out of them just by talking to them.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Other Information about your Character:

He tries to avoid violence at all costs. He was born during a very violent period and still has nightmares about his cradle being destroyed as he was held by someone else.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Kastor: Hey, HEY! What are you doing to the little lad?

Warrior1: What do ya think, idiot? We're robbin' the lad. Now run along before we get you too!

Kastor: *Chuckling* Really? Two buffoons like you are too mouse-hearted to join the army, and two ugly to get a girl, so you decide to pick on a small little boy like this one?

Warrior2: You dare insult us like that?

Kastor: If the truth and the insult are synonymous, then yes.

*Warriors unsheathe their swords and begin to walk towards Kastor, while Kastor gestures for the halfling to leave*

Kastor: I'm not sure you want to attack me. You don't understand me. A lot of people get confused when my sentences weirdly don't make sense.

Warrior1: What does what you just said even mean?

Kastor: I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to them.

*Warriors look away to see where Kastor is pointing. When they look back, he is gone*

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Kastor: Did I ask for anything?

Merchant: No

Kastor: Then you should go. If I didn't ask for anything, then don't offer it to me.

Merchant: Settle down, I didn't mean any harm

Kastor: Oh but you did cause it, didn't you? *points at the sun sarcastically* Look! Your wasting my time!

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Kastor: Hm, nobody would be stupid enough to leave this stuff in an unlocked chest... *peers at the golden sword* Maybe this person was stupid enough... he sure is stupid enough to use a golden sword... *puts the sword back into the chest, and then puts the iron bars in his sack* Might be able to get a blacksmith to make these into a nice real sword.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Trader: Why hello young man. You look hungry. Would you like to buy *looks at Kastor's worn clothes* or barter for any food?

Kastor: *Noticing the way the trader looked at him, and responds coldly* I am hungry, but I would rather go hungry tonight than give a fool like you money. *Takes money out of his pocket and waves it* And for your information, I could have brought plenty of food if not for the way you insulted me. *continues traveling*

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Guard: So, will you assist us?

Kastor: I would, but I cannot right now

Guard: Why? We need as many armed men as we can find.

Kastor: Am I armed?

Guard: No... bu-

Kastor: Then I will be on my way. *proceeds to find a way to sneak out of the town*

Accepted.

I believe that your application is sufficient. Your character is well developed and thought out with some obivious flaws and some very nice and almost unique talents. It would be quite a thing to meet you in some RP :)

Welcome to Asulon.

If you need any help send me a message on the forums :)
