In-Character:

Character Name: Fenwick

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Fenwick was always a victim of chance. His mother died while giving birth to him, leaving his father, Arick to raise him alone. This worked well for several years, until Arick suffered a gash to his leg during a training exercise, which lead to an infection that required his leg to be removed. Being unable to continue his work as the Master of Arms in the great city of Eralis, Arick had no choice but to return to the country and work on his sister-in-law's farm, bringing young Fenwick.

It was here that Fenwick learned how to provide for himself. He learned how to plant his own crops, tend to them daily and reap them when the time was right. One night, a drove a bandits raided the family farm. Everything was upturned - crops were unrooted, the stables set ablaze and the house ransacked. Fenwick, in one of his only strokes of luck, happened to be fetching firewood when the attack started, and hid in the woods nearby. He waited sleeplessly until morning, and approached his ruined home cautiously after the bandits had fled. Here he saw his father and the rest of his family, all stripped of their goods and lives. Unable to cope with these horrors, Fenwick fled through the woods, running for what seemed like days. He would remain a child of the forest for several years, utilizing the skills he learned on the farm to sustain himself.

Free from any sort of rule or king, Fenwick was free to act as he pleased. He meditated upon life's mysteries, climbed trees and hills, trained against imaginary soldiers in sword fights and learned to appreciate nature's beauty. These simple pleasures drove out the somber thoughts of Fenwick's past, and allowed him to cope with his losses.

Only recently has he decided to attempt to integrate himself back into the world, yearning a sense of belonging that has been long since forgotten...

What is your Character's ambitions?: Fenwick is a somber, yet thoughtful man. He strives to become in touch with humanity once more, though he does so cautiously.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Hoe

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Farming, speechcraft

Other Information about your Character: Fenwick has the same steel-grey eyes of his father. "That's the warrior in you," his father would tell him. Fenwick didn't feel like a warrior at the time, and has yet to understand what he meant by this. One day, he may find out.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Fenwick would attempt to make these warriors leave the halfling be, challenging their ethics. He would likely fight the soldiers if it was deemed necessary, but Fenwick prefers to "keep his hands clean," as he would say.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

"Greetings, kind merchant. I am in search of a fine farming tool this day. It must be durable enough to persist through continuous use, yet light enough to not tire a man half to death. Do you have anything of that sort?"

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Fenwick would certainly take these items - he is a man of a frugal nature, within reason. If it was determined that the house was not abandoned, however, Fenwick would certainly leave the contents of the chest.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

"Fellow dwellers of the forest, I come to you humbly to request a meager amount of food. I have been traveling for over two days with not a crumb of edible food. May I join your party?"

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Fenwick would not seek out the bandits. He is somewhat skeptical of authority, and chooses to determine justice on his own terms.

Why did I deny you?

Your definition of powergaming was incorrect...

Your powergaming definition was incorrect. This is a roleplaying server, where you make your own path, not an RPG where you select skills, grind mobs, etc. This is a server that we use our imaginations on! The form of powergaming you mentioned was the type only seen in RPGs. Our type of powergaming is more focused on player to player reactions and how these reactions play out. I will not give you any further information, you will have to find that out yourself.

Your definition of metagaming was incorrect...

Your metagaming definition did not properly show and outline what you need to know. Use examples, make sure that we are aware of your exact knowledge of the term, and how to avoid using it. Without that, we cannot accept this definition, because this shows that you may unknowingly use it ingame as you are not certain of the uses and meaning of the term.

Your ORQs were much too short...

Short answers in the ORQ section are not adequate. We need to know what your character sees, thinks, smells, feels and hears in that situation, to an extent that we are there, and we know exactly how your character would react if it were allowed into the world of Asulon.

Your ORQs were in the future tense...

You answered your ORQs in the future tense. Your character is there right now, in that situation, and he is acting right now. There is no 'I would' there is 'Bob IS'. For he is there, and he is in that circumstance. You need to roleplay as you would on the server, as your character would. He is there, what is he doing? Is he running? Is he fighting? He does not get to plan ahead, there is no ‘would’ there is ‘is’ and ‘are’. Present, not future.
