Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Sarkly

How old are you?: 13

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Central Standard Time / United States of America

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I definitely have a good grip on the English language. In fact, English is one of my favorite classes, and I tend to do very well in it. Since I am a natural born American, I have been speaking the English language for my entire life.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am thirteen years old and am a resident of the United States of America. I am very academically focused, and I also play the piano. I like to play games or go out during my free time. I started playing Minecraft in December, and I have found that I am a pretty good skin maker.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: You can expect me to spend 5-10 hours on this server a week, depending on the week. I will be able to spend much more time on the server during the next few months than I normally would be able to, so for a while I will be able to spend anywhere from 20-40 hours a week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is literally, as the name suggests, "playing a role." The playing portion indicates that you remove yourself from reality, and the role portion suggests a character or set of characters that you are transferring your reality to. In roleplaying, it is as if you become the character: you assume his appearance, personality, and other characteristics that define his identity. This implies a cutoff between your Out-of-Character knowledge and what you have learned In-Character.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have had experience in forum roleplays, however, this will be my first realtime roleplay.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is roleplaying using knowledge you obtained out of character. This could constitute using knowledge of bugs to your advantage, harassing weaker people before learining of their weakness in character, or using co-ordinates to your advantage. Meta-Gaming is generally unacceptable in roleplay.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is playing the game in order to achieve a specific goal mindless of all other considerations, including vital roleplay elements. This may or may not constitute Meta-Gaming as well, depending on the situation.

What do you expect this server will be like?: After all the positive comments that I have heard about this server on other servers and on the internet in general, I expect this server to be an excellent experience for me to start realtime roleplaying in.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I play on Minecraft Middle-Earth currently, and I don't plan on leaving it. I have played on one SMP server, but they started forcing people to whitelist after they had advertised no whitelisting, therefore, I left that server.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have carefully read through the server law, and I intend to abide by it if and when I get whitelisted on Lord of the Craft.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I promise to abide by all of the server, forum, and teamspeak set rules.

How did you hear about us?: I heard about you on the Minecraft Middle-Earth server.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I have never previously applied for Lord of the Craft.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there.: I have.

In-Character:

Character Name: Anfalond, son of Ulfiel

What Race are you?: I am an elf, born and raised in the great nation of Malinor.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Although my great-grandfather was a dark elf, I am almost purely descended from high elves. I have seen too much of the destruction caused by those who have abandoned the old ways to know that I will protect them with all of my being. I am a high elf by blood and a high elf at heart.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

"I am young for an elf, not even surpassing a century in age yet, however, I do not intend to let my age stand in my way. I am an elf of Malinor, and I intend to protect it at all costs. Malinor was once destroyed because of their weakness, and I hope for that to never happen again. Although I am a high elf, I believe that military strength is the only hope for Malinor's protection. I believe that our military must be well-trained and advanced. Only when all elves unite under one banner will we ever be able to fight the nations of men, dwarves, and orcs, should they ever turn against us. However, this is not our chief problem. The enemies of all Asulon, the undead, are rising again. Unless we destroy them while we have a chance, we will be overwhelmed. If this happens, where else will we have to run?

My father and mother were killed when I was barely 36, and the memory of that day has never left me. We were coming back to Normandor from a visit to the primarily human kingdom of Alras. I was sent to fill up the water canteens in a nearby stream. When I was finished, I heard a horrid shriek come from the direction of our wagon. I rushed up to the dirt road as fast as I could, but I could do nothing, for a band of humans, dwarves, and orcs had ambushed our wagon and cruelly slew both my mother and my father before my very eyes. If only there had been some guards nearby, but no, we had no such luck. Over the years after that tragic event, I have chosen, after much wise counsel from my less closely related family and friends, to become a warrior. I still have a long way to go in my training, and I hope to protect Malinor well."

OOC- Anfalond is a high elf who was affected by his parents' tragic deaths when he was younger. Because of this, he has just recently commited his life to becoming a warrior, and hopes to avenge their deaths somehow. He is averted to dark elves and the other races because they were the parties that took part in the slaughtering of his mother and father. He is an elf who, although being a high elf, has black hair tinged with indigo at the roots. He customarilly walks around with his armor on, and sometimes even with his helmet. His armor is fashioned from an alloy of steel and gold, strengthened by bronze.

What is your Character's ambitions?: Anfalond hopes to become an influential leader in Malinor's military. He hopes to bring about military reforms that will strengthen the nation of Malinor and allow it to participate in the military affairs of the world effectively.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): "My favorite tool, and definitely the one I use the most is my sword. Eventually it will drink the blood of it's enemies, but until that day, it must wait."

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? He is very skillful in agriculture, like most high elves and elves in general, however, he has more prowess with the sword and bow than many expect from an elf.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Other Information about your Character: He is male, if that wasn't clear :D

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? "I think it would be wise to leave that halfling alone." says Anfalond.

"What are you going to do about it," the thieves respond.

"If you do not leave him alone immediately, I will personally see to it that he remains safe, no matter what that takes."

"Fine! Have it your way. He's probably rich anyway, and we've got nearly nothing between the two of us."

"Stealing from people is certainly not the way to accquire wealth," Anfalond replies.

Turning to the halfling, he says, "Let's get back to the cloud temple quickly. We don't want them bringning any of their friends along."

When they arrive back at the cloud temple, Anfalond encounters three guards having a discussion.

"Two bandits were just attakcing this poor hobbit a few minutes ago. I hope you can stop them from causing any more harm," Anfalond says to the guards.

"We'll be on the lookout," reply the guards.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

"Well, that would depend on how much compensation you expect for your services," Anfalond replies. "I've got bread for 3 Minas a loaf, and Steak for 8 Minas apiece. Whadya' say about that?"

"I'm in no particular need of food right now, but what else could you sell me?"

"I've got some rare paintings for 15 Minas," the shopkeepere replies.

"I'm afraid that I came to Alras out of bare necessity. I can't afford to buy anything other than food or weapons," Anfalond replies.

"Well I'm sure you could afford something. How about my --"

"No thank you sir, I don't have any time for small talk,"

Anfalond walks farther into Alras, his senses heightened from this encounter with the greedy merchant. "I could get those very wares for much cheaper back in Malinor," he mutters to himself.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: "I don't particularly need any of this right now, so I don't think I'll take it," He says as he leaves the hut and continues along his way.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "Hello," Anfalond says weakly.

"What happened to you out there, elf?"

"I was attacked by the undead, and suffered a grievous wound at their hands. My wound is the least of my problems now. I am dehydrating quickly. Cold..."

The travellers light a fire and provide him with water, which surprises the elf, for they are human.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Anfalond jumps at the opportunity even before the reward is offered.

"I will help in any way I can, so that the fate of my forbears shall not be repeated."
