Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:

My minecraft account name is EMG100.

How old are you?:

13 years old now, turning 14 in a few months though.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

I am in U.S Central time, and I live In the United States of America.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes I do have a good grip on the english language as it was my first and only language(besides dwarven :P), I have quite good grammar and tend to get an A+ average in my ELA classes.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

A short description of myself would begin with the fact that I am outgoing and fun to role-play or talk with. I love to play video games and record myself playing them on youtube, I consider myself a good role-player and I love to do so. I also find myself as an athletic kid, and I get A+'s in every class, as well I as am taking advanced math for my age. I also love to program, and have coded several small games, as well as a big project and several plugins for various servers.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Haha, it depends on the server, I know for a fact that if I get hooked onto the server at least 5-6 hours on weekdays, and 10+ on weekends, so in the grand scheme of things around 40 hours a week, that is if I have an enjoyable experience here.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

I know quite a bit about role-playing, you basically get to act as a character or person that you want. You need to pretend you really are the person you are role-playing as and you need to stay in character. Role-playing means quite a bit to me as I have been doing it for around 3 years now, my first minecraft server I made was a role-play one, and I love to play Dungeons and Dragons.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

My experience in role-play varies from LARP, to D&D, to minecraft role-playing of course.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Meta-gaming in my own words is when a play uses real life information inside of the game to gain an advantage. Like if my friend told me where the elve base was and I used that information to lead to the dwarves to war.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

The act of power-gaming in my own words is when a play forces an action upon someone else without giving them a chance to react. For example, if I went up to a random player in a tavern and said in chat: *robs and kills man*, and then killed him, that would be power-gaming.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I expect this server to be one of the best I have played on. I was recommended to play here several times, but I had never had the time to apply until recently when a person named: 'Aiden_AJK' referred me here. I expect the server to be a fully submersible experience that will take me into the valiant life of my dwarven character where all that matters in ale and war. I expect to meet respectable people that I know I will have a fun time with, and lastly I expect to have fun.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I have played on several survival servers, but leaving them due to the fact they were quite repetitive. As for role-play, I have played on: Kingdoms of Aeonis, Lordran, Assassins Creep, and my own servers of course, I moved due to the fact they either got boring after a while, or my friends moved on, and I moved with them.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes, I have read the rules thoroughly twice, I understand them in quite detail, and I promise to agree to the rules without question.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

Yes I promise to abide to all teamspeak, server, and forum rules that you set for me to follow, and if I do not, I will take the punishment of banishment from the server for any amount of time.

How did you hear about us?:

I heard about you from a player named Aiden_AJK, a friend of mine.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

No, this is my first and hopefully last try.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. Yes, I will do it as soon as this is submitted.

In-Character:

Character Name:

Grondar Runesmith.

What Race are you?:

I come from a long line of pureblood dwarves.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

N/A

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

The story of Grondar is long, and full of bloodshed and betrayal, if you wish to continue on.. feel free.

Grondar was born to his parents, Grok'thar and Annathia Runesmith. They lived in a small dwarven town known as, 'Irongiriclux'. At the time of his birth, his father was a very well known craftsman. He worked on the anvil most of the day, and never really got to see his son, but he did bring ends meat, and supported the family, so Grondar had nothing to complain about. His mother didn't work though, she spend her time cleaning their home, doing the errands that needed to be done, and watching over Grondar. In all, Grondar's life for perfect, and he had nothing to fear or complain about.

That changed with The Battle of Drauchriem.

At the age of 16, Grondar was only a youngling. His father Grok'thar was drafted into the legion, and his life was in pieces. During his father's time in the legion, Grok'thar fought well, destroying many undead goons, and earning an vast amount of honor and respect from his superiors and his peers. Grok'thar's great line of heroic deeds shortly ended when a mistake was made. Grok'thar was charging into enemy lines, with his two bloody battle-axes in each hand, taking the heads off of several undead foes. But with a nasty blow from a necromancer, Grok'thar was left unconscious, and the undead captured him before their loss.

6 years after The Battle of Drauchriem, dwarves infiltrate an undead prision freeing many, as well as Grok'thar.

Grok'thar returned to his family, but he was much different. Grondar, now 24, began to notice his father acting strangely, and disrespecting many of his peers, as well as taking quiet time in the base-ment. His trips to the basement started to get longer and longer, until one day he was missing for 3 weeks. Grondar know he needed to save his father, so he went down the basement. He twisted the door-nob, but realizing it was locked he broke the door with his shoulder, sending splinters into the air. When he saw his father, the sight almost petrified him.

His father stood huddled in the corner, pale as snow, whispering cursed words while rocking back and forth with an axe in his hand. Grondar scanned the room, and saw the remains of several dwarves scattered across the floor. He walked up to his father and pushed him to the ground, yanking the axe from his hand, "How could you...", his father replied, "Let Yemekar guide your hand... they tainted me son... please end my life!". Grondar shed a single tear, raised the axe high, and be-headed the crazed former dwarf.

A year later, a group of dwarves did an investigation on the disappearance of Grondar's father. They thought Grondar was guilty of the murder of all sixteen dwarves and banished him to Girrondirzird, "The cave of no return". He stayed there for 40 years, forever sulking the dungeons, going mad in the process. When he was let free by the new king, he was already 65, and everyone he had ever known either was dead, or hated him. But his story was not over yet.

Grondar worked as an apprentice for 11 years, and when he had enough money, purchased 3 anvils, and opened a brand new shop. His mind was starting to reform, and he began to pray daily again to Yemekar, for one day he hoped to be bought by his favorite god in the afterlife. Slowly he began to make a name for himself, and after 20 years he decided to move to a new area up north, in a place called the "Cloud Temple" so he could get away from his regular routine. The Traveling took quite a long time, and he made many stops along the way, almost taking 5 years.

At his current age of 132, Grondar has just walked into the region where his new life will start, Asulon.

What is your Character's ambitions?:

Grondar's main ambition is to make his father proud by becoming the best smith in the entire dwarven realm in which he is soon to make his home.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

Grondar's most used tool is the hammer, for every day he uses it tons of times in order to create brilliant steelwork, and master swords. On the topic of favorite tool, Grondar seems to quite like the axe, although he killed his own father with one, it was always a family tradition to bring two battle-axes embodied with several runes to war.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

My character most skilled talent is crafting weapons, armor, and tools. He learned to do this when he was a youngling and his father was still sane, and when he was an apprentice for a local smith in his old realm.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Wasn't sure what format, also attached it.

Other Information about your Character:

Some other information about Grondar is the fact that he is usually drunk. He seems to find that ale can wash away all memories of his father, and of his previous home, so he makes no effort to stop drinking, and he probably never will. Another thing is that he can be quite grumpy and ill humored sometimes.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Whilst walking from the cloud temple drunk, Grondar sees two men harassing a young halfling who seems to have a small sack in his hand.

Grondar stumbles over to the trio and gets a better view of whats going on.

Armored man 1: Give us that sack of minas, you little runt!

Armored man 2: Or well kill you!

Halfling: I need this money to pay my rent, its a whole weeks pay!

Grondar, feeling bad for the small hafting decides to butt into the conversation.

Grondar: Leave that hafting alone you dirty, ruffian, man-things!

Armored man 1: Stay out of this, you short little bastard.

Halfling: Please help me..

Armored man 1: Shut up, halfling!

Grondar raises an axe to the first man neck and spits in his face.

Grondar: How dare you call me a short little bastard. (kicks man to the ground as he crawls away)

The hafling runs away yelling thanks to the dwarf who saved him, and Grondar just watches laughing hardy as the two armored men run away.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Grondar ponders for only a few seconds at the well dressed man-thing before laughing hardily.

Grondar: Haha, I don't want your wares, man-thing, everyone knows that a dwarves have more selection, and more modest prices.

Merchant: Wait one second, dwarf, I have a huge selection, and the most modest of prices.

Grondar: Oh really? Thats not what the rest of the men I have shopped from have had. If you don't have ale or ingots, I don't want your business.

Merchant: Ah yes dwarf, I have but the finest wine in Asulon, shipped from the best dwarven winery themselves.

Grondar: How much you looking for it?

Merchant: 150 for the whole bottle.

Grondar: Seems like a hefty price, but considering I am desperate for a good drink… -hands over minas-

Grondar: I'll take it.

Merchant: Thank you sir, and would you like-

Grondar doesn't turn to hear the mans offer, but instead walks away.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

While Grondar was traveling in the woods, he comes across a small wooden hut, he needed a refuge for the night, and the hut was abandoned so he decided to spend the night.

In the morning, Grondar looked in one of the chests and came across 6 iron bars, and a gold sword.

Grondar: Hmm, a sword and 6 ingots, this is worth a small prize, but do I really want to risk the shunning from Yemekar?

Grondar: My parents always said never to steal from a dead man, and I don't suppose I want to start now.

Grondar walks away, knowing that he didn't want to steal from the abandoned house, for he would likely ruin his dwarven pride and honor, or even worst be haunted by a ghost, or dis-owned by his favorite god Yemekar.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Trader 1: Hello dwarf, are you interested in a trade of some sort?

Grondar: Yes, ermmm, do you have any rations, I am quite hungry from all this, errrmm, being lost.

Trader 1: Hmm, for a matter of fact I do, a loaf of bread and some apples is todays special.

Grondar: Well I am really hungry, how much do you ask for this delightful meal?

Trader 1: -grins- Well, if you are really hungry, 200 minas.

Grondar: Two hundred minas for an apple and some bread?!

Grondar: (in dwarven tounge) You filthy scam artist, taking advantage of a hungry man!

Trader 1: What?

Grondar: I'll take it… -hands over minas and walks away a bit angry and used-

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Grondar is always ready to fight for a good cause, so after hearing that a group of bandits are occupying the road, he decides to approach the party leader.

Grondar: I heard you were looking for some mercenaries to help defeat some man-thing bandits, true?

Party Leader: I am not looking for mere, mercenaries as you would call them, I am looking for honorable men who would he happy to help fight the evil we have nearby.

Grondar: Well, I am honorable, and happy to help, as I am a dwarf, but I require a little promised incentive to sway my decision.

Party Leader: How much do you want?

Grondar: Least 250 for my work, more if I am wounded.

Party Leader: Quite a hefty price, are you good with a sword?

Grondar: No, but I'm great with an axe.

Party Leader: Well, I suppose that you can be relied on, I'll take you and pay for your assistance.

I am very sorry, but your application has been moved to the denied section of the forums. There are numerous reasons for this, all of which I have included in my feedback below this message. In the mean time there is an abundant source of information, stories, guides and other helpful tips to get you on your way to being accepted; all you need to do is look around. I would suggest the lord of the craft wiki and application submissions section of the forums to start off your little quest to make the best application. Good luck!

The reasons that I have denied you are:

Your biography has a lot of errors.

You have not included any (or much) lore from the world of Asulon or the lore you did include contradicts that of Asulon. I recommend that you do a lot of research as to what you race is and how they act, as well as towns and places that you could use in your biography. I would also like to note that the entire server escaped from Aegis about 25 in game years ago to move to Asulon, I suggest you do some research on this point. Do note this is not Skyrim or Lord of the Rings, we have our own universe with our own races. For ideas and lore you can look on the Lord of the Craft wiki (link on the main page), the Role-play or History sections of the forums or better yet; talk to the people themselves. Just join in our Team Speak channel and ask around! We welcome new people :)

You need to complete the entire biography, detailing all your characters history, age, personality and description. We also like to see little role-play quirks such as habits like the constant brushing back of a fringe, or the scratching of an itchy palm.

Every single thing in your application must have a justification. For example:

John’s father taught him swordsman ship and the lay of the land. X BAD

John’s father was a retired swordsman in the Oren military, after the undead attacks and the moving to Asulon he decided it was time that he lay down the sword for more important matters, family. Now days John’s father teaches John the way of the sword, not so that he can join any particular military, but so that he can defend himself for future experiences to come. √GOOD

Currently your character is by far too powerful, or too perfect. I believe that reading this guide would benefit you greatly:

How to avoid roleplaying as a terrible character.

You seem to take a lot of lore from (I guess) Dungeons and Dragons. Do note this is not dungeons and dragons, this is Asulon. In asulon there are only the cities from Asulon and nothing else. I suggest that you do quite a bit more research on these topics.

Some or all of your answers to the Open Response questions need a lot of improvement.

You powergamed and godmodded. One does not simply kill bandits. You need to write some REALISTIC rp. Chances are these bandits will kill YOU/knock YOU unconscious. Bandits are players and are very powerful characters. If you are by yourself in-game and you try to just kill bandits you will be banned for no-rp killing (read the rules) or at the very least completely destroyed by the bandits whom have had a lot of combat experience since they are BANDITS. We encourage RP pvp on this server, which means each party will demonstrate their actions through emotes. When responding to this situation you need to write DETAILED and DESCRIPTIVE responses. This means no "slices through the bandits neck" but write what your character aimed for, how much force he put in, what weapon he was using, how the bandits responded, what tools they are using, how they used them, how they blocked/parried/dodged, their skills and abilities. You have so much to write, this is what we expect of you.

This is the BEST roleplaying minecrat server and as such you need to be on par with the rest of the server in terms of RP skill. Those who display sub-standard RP skills should not be allowed onto the server lest they make everyone else's minecraft experience bad.

Your style of writing these questions is lacking detail. Try to make your story flow a lot more like a story in a book, rather than a manuscript of a play or TV show.

If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :) You are not allowed to apply again for a full 24 hours.
