((Hello there everyone, of recent, whilst working with trying to get magic sort somewhat with Mogroka and others, I have also set myself up with something to do in game that involves quite a few players, the basic is that it is a Dungeon with a story based around it, A gaint maze as it were... based around a large library. With monsters, traps and hidden secrets to boot. Once the building is done, I shall make an offcial post in the RP section asking for those brave enough to run the maze, dodge the traps and defeat the monsters within to relight the library and put an end to the evil that ensnares it once more.))

The Dark Library & AmonFoul

Intro

There is a tower, on the edge of Alras, a vast, looming structure of impenetrable rock and stone, with no forseeable entrance to be seen on the tower itself. It stands, as a lone sentinel, to watch over all the surrounding landscapes, till time... or worse... takes it. But... however it was not built to watch over the lands... no... for deep within, in the darkest reaches of its' holdings. To a vualt that supposively does not exist. Lurks a piece of a creature that all and many fear. An evil of the old world, locked away till the end of time itself for its' crimes against the people of Aegis and Asulon. Many know its' name, and fear it for what it has done. For deep within lies the final resting place of the Fabled Ascended and Undead wars. The last battle to be considered part of those wars that rages on to this very day. To keep... the creature from getting loose once more.

"Destruction be thy name, changer and Unbalancer of all..."

For this, be the tower... of AmonFoul. The tower, constructed, to not keep those without... out, but to keep, what lurks within... trapped.

The owner

The owner of this tower, is none other than the Wizard Blundermore, an old man who increasingly fears to tread his own tower for what it has become. "This is not... a tower, it is a cage with nothing more than a ravenous animal caught in a bear trap" - Blundermore

One of the few last Ascended, he works to contain with the help of his brothers and sisters, the evils that once plagued our world known as Aegis, to keep it secret to all but a few. To keep at bay watch wishes to be free, out of fear of what might happen if they did not do so.

The Vualt

The vualt in question, is a monumentous in size, carved from the stone of sand itself. Guarded by seals and wards to keep the piece within. It is said that... the only way to open the vualt... is to speak the Creator's True name... Though that... in itself, is only known to five at most, and such information... is not given lightly.

The Library

The Library, was the attempt of refilling what was within the old Ascended Library into Asulon, so that such information would not be lost. Though not all the wealths of knowledge could be saved from the fires of Aegis, thus meaning that the library is less filled than that of the old. But... there is always more information to fill the bookcases and shelves from this new world. Perhaps one day, the glory will once again be filled. And the library restored.

But... now, in its' current state... it has been all but consumed by what lurks below. Creating that of the name now given to it. "The Dark Library".

The essence of the creature that lurks below, still seeps up into the above levels of the tower. Though the creature itself is trapped, it can still insnare that without thought. And the library... is but a perfect tool of which to ensnare.

The library, is said to change now... bookcases appearing where there was once free space, staircases appearing out of nowhere. Even creatures have been said to jump out of the very pages of the books in some nightmare. Books detailing of zombies and skeletons, of the things that lurk the night itself. Walk the halls and rows of the library.

It was not until, the core was installed, that the library was once more brought under control, a great, beaming light at the centre of the libary. Able to brighten all the deep dark corners, and effectively "scare the monsters away" back into the books they whence came from.

But... the core is not a permament fix... seemily it seems that the core grows dim... that the fuel is going out. The books stir in the increasingly diming light until finally, darkness falls apon the Library once more. Once more... the monsters of the dark, of our own creations in literature, come alive to haunt and prowl the library once again.

When this happens, a brave soul... must enter the library, and navigate the labyrinth of bookshelves, conquering the monsters of both infront of them, and the monsters within their very selves. To see past the trickery of the library, and make it to the core once more, and to relight it. Ending the reign of the monsters, and once again making the Library safe.

A great reward of knowledge is said to wait at the centre of the library, which is quite fitting for the setting.

Please contact me, your idea is already in line with my construction. Although mine is a blessed library with no evil taint, the similarities can not be missed.

Blessed in what nature? Surely if blessed it is the polar opposite of tainted. That and the build has already gone on now for 5 weeks at least. That and the lore behind the tower and what lurks below has been rp'ed since the very first day of asulon. Even before that actually.

That and to not do this would be powergaming on my part as I'm just a wizard... I can't hold back a piece of a Daemon entirely. It makes sense that the lower sections of my tower would become affected by such.

Do not think this is lore that I have made out of a personal whim... this RP and lore has been around in times long before Asulon, it hasn't just appeared now. I'm sorry if you had a similar idea but I do not see what the problem is as you have a Blessed library (which I want to know how it is such), whilst I have a tainted library with bits of the Ascended Library (which was quite large) within it. The lore, backstory and RP has already been here. Far before Asulon.

Also, there are many "grand libraries" floating around... I'm mean, just go look at that RP post Floop did for his Library as well, I think he had an idea like that for quite a while as well... and there are many others as well with large Libraries. Even the Mages have one, it wouldn't be fair to have but "one grand Library".

It all makes RP sense that this would happen to the lower sections of my tower, seeing how contained within is: the blood of iblees, the original overlord's staff, 4 normal undead staffs etc

That amount of power inside one vualt cannot, no it will not be held down entirely by one person. That and I have already put months of work into creating, building and gathering supplies for this. The build may have been there 5 weeks pior, but the work put into it before goes back months.

As proof I can call apon: Vardak, JCQuinn, Aleryn, Floopster, The_Blind_Seer, Urasept, Shoi (If she ever decides to post(which won't probably happen in this post)) and many others.

Forgive me for misdirecting you, It is not that I don't support your idea. I support the construction of any library. Especially those that wish to contain books from Aegis. In fact my desire was to aid you.
