Alright, here goes nothing!

Minecraft Account Name: outlawAvailed

Character Name: Varis Vlosszuk'r

Gender: Male

Age: 23 years

Appearance:

Varis stands at a height of 5'7", a fairly average height, slender like most others with a weight of 136 lb. He has a small frame and isn't as muscular as he'd like to be. His physique however allows for nimble movement and far more subtle sleight of hands although he is more easily overwhelmed in combat by sheer force. His hair falls just above his shoulders dyed with a dark, almost obsidian color. His skin is dark, almost the shade of charcoal. Unlike the typical red eyes of the Mori, he has green eyes which fade from a lighter green on the edges to a dark evergreen color in the center. He wears a evergreen tunic made of precious spider silk, decorated with lavish designs of gold.

Personality:

He is quick to anger but knows his place. He's not about to show any lest it were for a specific purpose. He is plotting and is devious. He's less inclined to pursue a romantic affair of any sort lest it provide some sort of advancement for hisself. He doesn't pursue friendship except for the possibility of manipulation. He isn't a sadist per se but does enjoy seeing the downfall of his enemies, which could be anyone. His pride is immense, he sees himself above even his superiors but would not dare mention such opinions. He is much more likely instead to even flatter someone of higher power for trust and better recognition. He is a thirsty creature, aching for power.

Biography:

The earliest years of this Mori's life were not looking well for him. He was scrawnier than most from birth and didn't offer much potential either. He didn't walk until much after the acceptable age to do so. He was rather timid and his father urged that he be abandoned entirely. His mother demanded time, as all good things came to those who took time to plot. Sure enough he began to walk and show signs of aggression.

When he hit early schooling, he often set people against each other through rumor dropping and some easy pick pocketing. Because of his small physique, others also doubted his ability to fight and often targeted him for it. However, it was all too easy for him to steal food here and plant it on someone else, then hint at its disappearance to the initial victim. He used approaches similar to this in order to reap revenge on those that were larger than him. He learned tactics rather than brute strength are much more reliable when it comes to sowing the demise of others.

As he grew older, pride would become his only downfall however. He got into the habit of dropping hints of his own involvement of his deceptions, just before the victim was disposed of. In such events, the tide of events could turn quickly and he carries scars from such turns but not before dealing a few of his own. He discarded this sort of practice and decided that it was better to enjoy his subtle actions from the sidelines of conflict and to not let his pride lead him to reveal himself.

As much fun as it was turning people on each other, there was nothing like getting your sword bloody every once in a while. Once out of his early schooling. He started taking up assassinations in his spare time. Nothing serious, poison in a goblet here, an misfortunate trip off the side of a wall, maybe he fell on his own weapon. The real fun came to the struggle, the rush of it all, and the witty quips before ending someone. Such was the life of the blade.

When it came to head to head battles though, Varis was always bested by those from the Melee Magthere. He scoffed at the idea of a school to learn that which was so natural at first, but results were undeniable. It worked. He had therefore the join the academy and rise through its ranks.

Your characters ambitions:

Power! Varis strongly desires power and the things he would do to attain such unquestionable. He desires to rise through the ranks of The Melee Magthere and become an excellent swordsman. Nothing that excels his hunger for recognition and power.

===Roleplay Related Questions===

As your character wanders the back-streets of Menorcress, you sight a cloaked figure lurking in one of the shadowed nook behind the Brothel: a rustle of cloth is heard, and the figure ushers you in with a skeletal finger. The hooded figure imparts information involving a conspiracy to over-throw the House of Miiystra, and offers you a hefty sum of coin to partake in the planned attack. How does your character react?

Varis eyes the hefty sum, calculating what he may do with the money and the dangers this could mean to the state. With glinting eyes, the young Mori agrees. If he were to refuse, what would he gain from this strange skeletal figure? In fact, the High Queen would have been worse off if you would have refused. Believing that you were bought over with the sum, the figure would believe that he had the allegiance of this Mori seeking power and wealth. However, Varis would alert her royal tyranny to the coupe de'tat and offer up a portion of the offered money. Not only would he reap the rewards of the traitor but he would gain favor from the High Queen herself. Wealth, power, recognition. On his signal, Varis would alert the guards to the people involved in the coup and the traitors would be killed on the spot.

Your character finds him/herself watching the Alure d'aphyon: the several fighters within the void maze wield only sticks as they prove their prowess as warriors by battling to the death. One of fighters happens to be a close companion of yours, and you witness him being strategically cornered by three of the other fighters and beaten to death. While the crowd cheers in celebration of the violence, and the death of your friend. How does your character react?

He snickers. This is too grand! Varis was only his friend because he saw him as an equal, someone who could potentially be threatening in terms of fame and power. He thought that his friend was out to betray him if anything, his cruel death by bludgeoning wrought by his own mistakes was much to pleasing. Besides, with those kind of mistakes he was making in combat, it was almost as if he deserved such a death. You were planning to take a hit out on him eventually anyways.

Alright, First off.

Vlosszuk'r means basically Bloodtreader

I liked your application, it was good in a few places, but I have to say Denied.

The points I would like to highlight to be improved are these:

-(Not too Important) Your hair color is black, According to our lore its generally a white-ish color. You could dye the hair black though.

-(Kinda Important) "He's not about to crack his emotional facade in the midst of a higher ranking male and especially not in the presence of a priestess." Males are generally not very high ranking save for the noble males, but even they aren't very important. Females are the leaders and revered ones in the culture. Certain emotions are also a sign of weakness (Love especially).

-(Important) In your second paragraph of your biography you state this "Not only could he reap the benefits of punishing a larger target but also gained allegiances on both sides of conflict. He bore the title "honest" because of his alertations to the misdirected theft." That is HIGHLY unusual, the Mori are all deceitful and cunning. Treachery. Deceit. Death. This is simply the way in which we live... It's a way of life to act like your character does, he would generally not be recognized as honest. I personally would go so far to stay being completely honest would make my character MORE suspicious of a person.

-(Important) "He dresses slightly more modestly as to hide some scars" He is also showing his weakness by dressing in less revealing clothes. I do not understand why he would wish to cover these scars, in fact it would be more a reason to show off his strength. 'Mori do not wear provocative/scandalous clothing because they feel sexy in it. It’s a sign of strength and power, proving their superiority to other more modest dressed by revealing they have no imperfections or flaws to hide and they are strong enough to not be dependent on heavy armour to cover them up.'

-(VERY Important) "The only thing that excels his hunger for recognition and power is his allegiance to her Royal Tyranny and the state of Menorcress." That is the epitome of weakness, and is a VERY rare trait in a Mori. Allegiance, you said your character LUSTS for power, that he would do ANYTHING to obtain greater power. Yet, he give his allegiance to the queen, who, very possibly is the reason he lacks power. What I would say is the most important things in a Mori's life is like this:

1. Nemiisae, The Eternal Mother

2. Their own lives/power.

3. Everything else

Once these few points are addressed I'll look at it again. Also, the application is a little bit outdated and the lore has evolved a bit. If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

First of all, thanks for the good response. I went through it again and edited, mostly just omitting the slips and making some subtle changes. As far as lore goes, I drew mostly from the lore section of CoM, is there a better place to go to?

The lore is mostly correct in the CoM and the wiki pages, though we do need to update them. One of the most major changes would be there is no longer a Valsharess(Queen), instead it is a council that rules the city. At the moment I would have to say one of the best ways to learn the new lore is by experience. I feel it helps to learn the newer lore in character because depending on who you hear it from it will also shadow on how your character looks on the new changes as well. Half-breeds are more prevalent in the city among many many other things. You did the right thing drawing from the CoM and maybe the wiki, its on us to update everything.
