Walking through the vast fields that surround the landscape, Bazian eyes up some nearby pines. Approaching the rough exterior of the trunk, he feels along the bark for an angle at which to befall the tree. Picking up his ax, he gives a few good swings and the old pine falls with a thunderous crash. Bazian makes short work of the rest of the pine and collects what wood he can carry and takes it up Mount Anart.

Approaching the the large stairs to the gatehouse, he calls of a younger lad to carry his burden of freshly cut pine as Bazian is too old for such tasks. Bazian enters the hub of the town, dwarves are coming and going as the mountain side is being chiseled away by picks. Families claim homes in carved out areas in the mountain face while others build theirs of timber and bricks. "It is quite a sight, watching us dwarves work", Bazian thinks to himself.

After talking with some friends over an ale or two at the Hardrock Tavern, Bazian slowly climbs the stairs up to the uppermost part of the mountain. Turning left, he looks over the hold in construction lead by his newly found Clansbrother, Oghren. After a quick chat, Bazian turns in the opposite direction and heads to his temporary abode for the night.

History

The Grandaxe Clan is steeped in tradition of honor and glory. This clan of Mountain Dwarves was forged from the old clans of Braveaxes and Blackaxes. These clans dated back as far as the reign of old King Charles of Kal'Urguan. This makes the clan one of the oldest right behind the Ironfist Clan.

The Braveaxes and Blackaxes originally held joint control over Kal'Urguan's military but in response to the shortcomings of the High Council and the absence of the newly crowned King Gotrek, they decided to create a War Council in order to have more control over their own affairs. After the failures of the High Council under two Irongut Kings, the Braveaxes and Blackaxes worked together in a military coup to take power from their former rulers, for the betterment of the Dwarven Kingdom. This proved a success and the clans were able to forge the first Grand Council of the Dwarves, initially consisting entirely of Braveaxe and Blackaxe clansmen and led by Grand King Thorik Braveaxe.

They ruled the Kingdom for years to come, achieving great feats while in power, notably the numerous military victories against Krugmar and the complete redesign and reorganisation of Kal'Urguan into a dominant military, economic and diplomatic power in Aegis. While the reign of the Grandaxes is now over, their legacy continues to exist and have an impact on Dwarven life, even to this day. Now with a hold of their own, they seek to restore the old sense of honor and glory that once existed in their ancestors.

Honor and Glory

The values of honor and glory are greatly upheld by the Grandaxe Clan. So, what is honor and Glory? Honor is what you fight for, your brothers, respect, your homeland. Glory is the fantastic feats that a dwarf can accomplish in his lifetime, as all dwarves aspire for greatness which is achieved through glory on the battlefield, in most cases.

It used to be, in the olden days of Aegis, that if a person dishonored or disrespected a Blackaxe, that person would be forced to their knees or slain, either of which would regain the Blackaxe's honor. Such is not so different now with the Grandaxes. A dwarf must show respect and loyalty to their elders and all brothers.

Usually, after a raid or a battle, the most outstanding dwarf on the battlefield will be recognized at a feast that follows every battle. This dwarf will take a seat with the elders as a special guest, as the feast is in his honor.

Art of War

The Clan has an affinity for the art of war. These mountain dwarves are skilled in the art of axes, swords, and crossbows, but most renown by the blade of an axe. Their love for war is greatened by their intense hatred for orcs.

gFKKI.jpg

Orcs have been the dwarves almost natural enemy since the beginning of time and they still are enemies to this day. Since Kal'Anart be so close to orc territory, tensions have never been higher. Raids and bloodshed goes back and forth between the two warring societies. Ever since Khaz was sacked, Bazain swore he would have his revenge, and revenge he will get.

Culture

Everything is clearly definied on this post.

Ways of the Ancestors

Grandaxes follow the ways of Paragons, any other godly worship will be treated as blasphemous and said dwarf would be shunned. Paragons are dwarves that where once alive, that had obtained such amounts of honor and glory in the first life, that they have become godly. It is the aspiring hope of every dwarf to one day become a paragon or be with the other paragons and risen dwarves at khaz-A-Den'trumm.

The Family ov Braveaxes

The Braveaxes

" Death over dishonour "

Family Tree: http://www.familyecho.com/?p=YHL5A&c=wayyrkkull&f=932061798954485187

Long ago in the beggining of Aegis there was a son of Urguan who was given the name of Braveaxe, and this is the tale of how such a name was bestowed upon a dwarf.

Bogrin was a grim and fierce dwarf, he was not one to step down from a fight and his honour meant all to him. His hand was never far from his axe and even

when he drank it was no more then a arms length away. Bogrin would always expect the worst to happen which often actually caused it to happen. He had lived his whole life

on the battlefield and he was known for acts which many thought of as stupidity but when there was something which non dared to do he was the one to send.

There was many tales of Bogrin's many deeds, including the time he fought a gigantic scaddernack bare handed or the time he rushed straight into a horde of orcs wearing nothing

but trousers and a axe. Over time many of the tales has been forgotten but in the halls of the Braveaxes they still live on as they once did centuries ago...

With time Bogrin was called before Urguan and was given the name "Braveaxe".

With time Bogrin grew bored of only fighting and started looking for somebody to share his life with and that was when he meet a beautiful lass which he fathered four children with...

Thrain the Golemcrafter, Decks the Exiled, Belya the willfull and Gilneas the trickster and these children inherited the name "Braveaxe".

It was not long after fathering Thrain he wished to build a place for his children and their children to live, and it was then the family packed their belongings and traveled far up

north and made Kal'Burhin The hold of the Braveaxes. Years passed and Bogrin grew restless as it had been years since he had last picked up his axe. And when the dwarven horns of war once more sang he was on the fronlines

full of bloodlust and ready to pass onto the halls of the afterlife...

Bogrin fell in the battle and never more would his voice fill Kal'Burhin with joy and laughter, but even so his children did not remorse for they knew their father had died the way he wished.. With a axe in hand and with the smell of blood.

The thrill of battle and bloodlust was a thing which would always stain the Braveaxes but even so they held honour above their own life and would rather die then dishonour the legacy their father had passed onto them.

The children of Bogrin were all diffrent as night and day except for their strong sence of honour and their thrill of battle.

Thrain the Golemcrafter

Thrain's life was dominated by the forge with he lived and breathed for, he felt alive when he was beating his hammer upon gold and steel. Thrain's arts was known threw the land for their excellent quality and he was revered

for his creations. Many of Thrain's friends had fallen in battle and he sought for a way to end the grievance of death, that was when he came up with the idea.. Why not animate rock or iron to do your bidding so that the living does not?

For centuries Thrain studied the arts of runes and the arts of magic, he visited many topics of the magic world such as illusion, conjuration and in the end.. Necromancy.

It was during this time that he started to put pieces of them all togheter and created he created a anvil with a powerful rune upon it.

Little did Thrain know that there already excisted anvils such as the one he himself owned, the grand one in Kal'Urguan and the one in Asulon and that there existed those which had made golems before.

Thrain then crafted a massive body of stone and he got his hands on a piece of magegold which he crafted a core to hold a soul in, for Thrain understood that to animate the stone he would need to use the soul of something living.

And finally after years of preparement and studying he sucessfully sealed a soul inside the Core and with this he animated the golem. Thrain died a few years after this at the age of 931, he had become exhausted and no longer could

his body support his hard life. The golem no longer without a master sealed itself away and the way to create golems was passed onto his sons.

During his long life Thrain had fathered four sons: Hodor the hidden, Thorik the Grand King, Thorin the insignificant and Vod the undefeated.

Hodor the Hidden

In the biggining of Hodor's life he was treated as one of the great shames of the Braveaxe clan and he was hidden long inside of Kal'Burhin.

Hodor had belived to be somewhat special for his views on the world and also for refering to himself as Hodor instead of I or me.

This is what caused his family to hide him away for over 540 years. Even though hodor was hidden from the public view he was

thought in the arts of war and the mysteries of the Forge. By the age of 341 he was a adept runesmith, a fully learnt golemsmith and

a seasoned warrior. Even though Hodor was all of this he never in his 743 years of life learnt how to write with common letters.

As the days of Aegis grew shorter and the ineveteble end was closing inn Hodor's father died and with that there was only left one Braveaxe

at Kal'Buhrin, and it was with this that Hodor traveled to the city of Kal'Urguan where his Brother had become the King. And for

another 80 years he would be hidden away from the world until the day that his brother Thorik was slain.

after 710 years of living with his family and being kept hidden it was just natural that Hodor fleed Karik and left to wander the lands

of Asulon before returning to the dwarven kingdom where he shortly after joined up with what remained of his clan.

Thorik the Grand King

Thorik left Kal'Buhrin at a young age and went looking for what the world had to give. At first to get by and live he joined up with

a mercenary group and for years he traveled with them and fought countless battles for whoever hired them.

Once they were hired by a bunch of dwarves which was traveling with their merchantdice and needed protection on the road.

It was as they traveled with these that Thorik meet who would later become the mother of his two children.

The firstborn of these were Gimrik and later on Broski, both of these left their home for the capitol of the dwarves, Kal'Urguan.

Years later Thorik's wife died of a illness which was incureble and he left Kal'Burhin for Kal'Urguan.

And it was in Kal'Urguan the true tale of the Grand king of the Dwarves would start.

The first thing Thorik did was to settle down right outside Kal'Urguan where he claimed his title of Lord and also where he officialy started

the "Braveaxe Clan". Later as his influence grew he became the Lord Marshall and reformed the dwarven millitary... This was the start of

a new era of the dwarves.

When the current king at the time turned to the undead and betrayed his people it was Thorik that stripped him of his title and banished him, and when the next king "King Gotrek" came

it was Thorik with his millitary council that overthrew him when he was not doing his job and they ceased power. It was then the Reign of Grand King Thorik started.

He turned the politic system into a millitary system and put those he knew he could trust to do the job at the diffrent positions.

Many wars broke out during his reign but the dwarves always stood on top and crushed the resistance.

But as the time came to flee to Asulon the Ironguts started to wish for power and it was this that marked the downfall of Thorik

and in the end the traiterouss Ironguts killed him along with a Grimmhall.

Thorik died with his Axe in hand and with the stench and thrill of battle, just as a Braveaxe should.

Thorin the insignificant

* As you read threw the texts you notice not much is written about Thorin. The only thing known is that he supposedly died

on the battlefield*

Vod the Undefeated

Once each five houndred years or so there comes a dwarf so skilled in combat that he is forever doomed to die by the cowardice

of his enemies, Vod was such a dwarf. He had been in houndreds of duels and countless battles threw the ages and never once had

he been bested by a enemy. Such was his skill that he could handle five other dwarves at a time and beat them all!

((Not jokin, the guy that played this character actually did this.))

He would be at the front of the battle shouting the battlecry of his clan and would slaughter whatever was his enemy. He was one of the

prides of the Braveaxe clan, for just having such a genius of battle was considered a great honour.

Vod quickly rose threw the ranks of the millitary until he became a General and he was also at a time the Grand Champion of the Arena.

But the life of one such as him is full of death and with time you will die either by the sheer number of enemies or by posion.

Even to this day what happened with Vod is unknown, but considering nobody has seen him in over a houndred years the is presumed dead.

Decks the Exiled

* as you look threw the family records you come over the name Decks but as you look for more information at him you only seem to find

his age and that he was exiled from the kingdom of Urguan. ((Decks is the Blackaxe father, read more about him in the blackaxe lore))

Belya the willfull

Belya had never been one that would listen to either her parents or siblings. When she first thought of doing something she would

and when the time came for her to get married off to another clan she left the hold and only centuries later would anybody in

the clan ever hear from her again.

years later the clan meet her son "Longbeard" which still to this day lives on.

Gilneas the Trickster

*as you look threw the family archives you notice that most of Gilneas papires is destroyed and on them rests a scorched mark of a hand.*

The Grey Vigil

The first of his kind to ever walk the halls of Urguan the gray Vigil stood 8 feet tall and was a monstrosity of a golem.

Thorik had found the blueprint for a golem lying deep in the libary of the Braveaxes and with this he had gathered the required materials

for it.

And by the unity of dwarven ingenuity, ascended magic and the smithing arts of Gotrek the Gray vigil was made.

* A note made by Chaecus Braveaxe is found in the papires detailing the Gray vigil, it seems to be written from when it was made.

My uncle Thorik had gathered the Ascended mage Hiebe Irongut and the High dwarven smith Gotrek firemane and brought them deep into the

Braveaxe manor where a huge lava pool was and in the middle of it stood a grand anvil made by Thrain, my grandfather.

-Gotrek works tirelessly as he crafts a massive body out of rock, his hammer falls upon the anvil and the echoes threw the whole place..

as Gotrek is crafting the body Hiebe is chanting words that I cannot even beggin to understand. And as the chanting and crafting seems to

reach its end a great pillar of fire rises from the lava and engulfes them both along with the golem..

And suddenly the Golem steps up and mumbles "Cre- A- Tor?".
