Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Jimothy5

How old are you?: 16

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: United States of America/ PST

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Well I think it is quite clear that I love Minecraft. I live in California and I enjoy playing video games. (( PS3, PC )) I also very much enjoy playing sports. I am in high school in the 10th grade.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I can log on every day for anywhere from 1-6 hours.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: RPing is basically putting yourself into the shoes of another person. You face challenges, have emotions, etc. You are just being another person.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I played on TheKingdomsMC, which was very light RP. But I understand heavy RP completely.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming is using OOC information to your advantage IC. For example, say Joe was being attacked in the City of Laurelin. If Joe was in TeamSpeak, he could not tell his Bob to come save him. Technically, Bob does not know of the battle IC.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-gaming is basically making yourself OP. Say you are in a battle with your enemy. If you are fighting them with your battle-axe, you can’t suddenly pull out your bow and shoot them in the face. In real life, that would take much more time then it does in Minecraft. You need to be realistic.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it to be a great RP experience. I expect the administrators to have great work-ethics, and for the people on the server to be mature.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

TheKingdomsMC: Basically the only thing holding the server together was the community. Eventually, it just died out. Everybody got tired of the lack of work by the admins, etc.

Intoxicated and Killion DC: Fun PvP, Still play on it every so often.

NationsMC: Tekkit server. Pretty fun. Play on it whenever I want to play Tekkit. Used to be the Minecraft server without tekkit after TheKingdomsMC died out.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yup.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I, Jimothy5, promise to abide by the said rules and laws for the Server, The Forums, and TeamSpeak.

How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?:

Yes. stealthninjaAP referred me. He was my old friend from TheKingdomsMC, and he told me how he was having such a great time on this server.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/55272-jimothy5s-application/

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. In-Character:

Character Name: Captain Jim Basean

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Nope

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Name: Captain Jim

Age: 34

Appearance: Jim is a middle-aged man, that is fairly well built.

Gender: Male

Personality: A friendly man, but fierce with his words as well as his sword to enemies and fools insisting they know everything. He is focused on big tasks but enjoys fooling around a bit with his friends.

Flaws/Weaknesses: He is to hot-blooded occasionally, and is slightly greedy. To his friends he is to trusting and will not hesitate to help them.

Backstory:

Captian Jim comes from the city of Arethor in the Kingdom of Renatus. He has seen many challenges in his life, and somehow manage to escape death in most situations. Jim was sold on the docks of the city at the age of 12 to secret slave traders working throughout the Kingdom. He was just old enough to remember his parents, and his older brother, everyday for the rest of his life. He could not remember, however, what angered his parents so much. Why they sold him. What he did. He was a strong young boy from 6 years of labor as a child. He fetched the price of 2000 minas. But the second his new "owner" had his eyes turned, he slipped out of his bonds and ran onto a ship headed on a fishing voyage. The ship returned after 3 weeks on the sea, Jim having survived by swiping water and bits of bread and ale. He lived in Arethor for many years. He rose quickly through the ranks of the town, making money by stealing, mining, pirating the seas, and even robbing people on the roads. He soon was a highly respected sea Captain and warrior. He gained fame throughout the town as a clever battle planner and a strict but good captain. He was the one in charge of the fleet, decimating pirates roaming the seas outside the city. Soon though, the pirates amassed, and along with a few corrupt members of his crew, captured him and took him away to the island of the pirate king.

The pirates were angry. Very angry. Jim had destroyed their ships, robbed them of their plunder, made them a laughingstock of the seas, more of a frightening bedtime story to tell children. They tortured him painfully. They heated up golden coins to the point of melting, and set them along his skin, screaming “This is the treasure you stole from us! Feel it BURN your skin!” They placed white-hot sharpened swords along the inside of his thighs, burning his flesh and forcing him to smell his own cooking meat. When they had beat and tortured him within an inch of his life, they stormed the port, burning down houses and taking ships, showing their forgotten might, and left him on the town square for the people to see what they could do.

But Captain Jim was not done. He lay on his bed unconscious for several weeks, sick and dying, but somehow, the healers pulled him through, only barely. His pain never went away from the sickening torture the pirates did to him. Jim was thirsty for vengeance and their blood. He knew now where their island was. He once more commanded the fleet, though still deathly weak from his capture. Instead of fighting in the final battle, he showed his skill in both naval and ground fighting strategies, defeating the pirates with only 50 men down out of the fleet of 500, crushing the pirates and capturing most of the pirate leaders. The pirate king however, had been killed by Jim’s loyal crew, the ones who were his friends, not the treacherous men that dishonored their race and gave up one of their own to the filthy criminals of the seas.

Jim had spent his whole life in Arenthor, gaining fame and power. But his encounter with the pirates and near death experiences taught him that fame was just as dangerous as it was appealing. He convinced himself the only way to stay alive was to leave the city, perhaps find a new city without many troubles and lead the life of a fisherman.

He set of along the coast heading North up until he could turn inland, making his way back to the Cloud Temple of Asulon, to recollect his thoughts, and do the one thing that still made sense to him; Find his older brother Daniel. He set off at a slow pace in his boat, a small vessel with one simple mast and sail, peacefully staring out at the sea which brought him so much joy, but just as much pain. He thought about his older brother, who was 10 years his elder. He thought about how he had not been sold, how he was stronger, and always looked out for him. When he was sold on the docks, he had provided a distraction so Jim could escape his captors. He never had gotten the chance to thank him, and had never again found or heard of him. Jim was now getting older at the age of 34, and decided it was much past the time to find his brother after 22 years without hearing of him.

Captain Jim tried to organize his thoughts, thinking about his life, how much he had lived through, even though he lived through a great many adventures. He had finally arrived at the cloud temple. Sitting in the library, he asked about his brother, asked if the monks had heard of him, but none had. He read for days, looking for any mention of his brother. He finally found him in the book describing a great battle between two cities farther north along the coast and inland about 20 miles. He was on the list of warriors who had died in the battle. Stricken with sorrow, he set off to find his brother's daughter, by the name of Helaine Guvriet, in a town called Ursakar.... It was nearly too much for him. He decided to find his niece and see if he could stay in her town, offer his services, start his life new once more.......

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Considering Jim is getting older...Jim does not bother to fight them. Jim is only willing to fight when he has friends on his side to help him out, or if he knows he can win.. After all, it is not like he is a young, lively teenager. He would try to talk them out of it, but it would not be worth fighting them for him.

Warrior 1: *walks up to the halfling and pulls out his sword.

Warrior 2: *grins with a villainous look on his face.

Halfling: *raises an eyebrow at the two as they approach him.

Warrior 1: *chuckles deviously, “Hello good sir...Where are you headed today?”

Halfling: “Eh...My home.”

Warrior 2: “I don’t think so. I believe you are in debt to us.”

Halfling: “Debt to you? I do not recognize your faces. Why is that?”

Warrior 1: Give us 100 minas, then I will let you go.

Warrior 2: *laughs at the helpless man.

Halfling: *sighs as he reaches into his pocket.

Jim: *recognizes the three on the roadside and walks up, “What is going on here?”

Halfling: “They are demanding money from me...For no apparent reason!”

Warrior 1: Keep quiet.

Warrior 2: *speaks to Jim, “What is your business here?”

Jim: “I am just insisting that you leave this innocent man alone!”

Warrior 2: *pulls out his blade, “I suggest you turn around.”

Jim: *rolls his eyes and walks off, seeing as he can’t help.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Seeing as Jim is generally looking to sell things, Jim would respond differently to the merchant.

Merchant: 'ello there, what can I do you for today? Interested in buying some of my various goods?”

Jim: *shakes his head, “No thank you. But I have a large amount of valuables that a Merchant like you would be interested to buy!”

Merchant: *nods as he listens, “Hmm, what exactly do you have?”

Jim: “Assorted items...Some Iron Ingots, A golden necklace, and even a rare music disc!”

Merchant: * lights up as he hears “music disc”

Merchant: “I’ll take that music disc off your hands for 2000 minas!”

Jim: *greedily chuckles, “That will not do for me sir! 3500 minas is the price, I am afraid.”

Merchant: *scratches his head, “How about 3000 minas? That is reasonable!”

Jim: *shakes his head stubbornly, “3500 minas, or 4000. You can choose.”

Jim: *chuckles.

Merchant: *sighs, “Fair enough.”

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Jim would probably look around and check if anybody was near the area. If not, he would take it for himself, considering his greediness.

Jim: *shouts, “Hello? Anybody around?”

Jim: *laughs, “I guess this is all mine!”

Jim: *reaches into the chest and grabs all the items as he puts them into his satchel.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Jim: *runs into the area as fast as he can, yelling help weakly as he is dehydrated and lacking food.

Person: “Hello there, you do not look too good!”

Jim: *gasps, “I need...food and water...”

Person: “Oh my...You look extremely pale! I will go grab some food for you!”

Jim: * throws a small amount of minas on the floor as the person gives Jim a slice of his bread and a small bucket of water.

Person: *picks up the minas and puts them in his back pocket.

Jim: *gulps down the beverage and takes large bites out of his bread.

Jim: *wipes his mouth and smiles, “Thank you kind sir! You have saved me from starvation!”

Jim: *chuckles.

Person: *smiles at the man eating his food so sloppily, “Thank you, for the minas!”

Jim: *smiles, “Could I buy more? I need some to last the journey.”

Person: *nods, “Follow me to my tent. I will sell you some more food!”

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Jim: *Walks up to the group gathered in the city. He asks; "How much is this reward offered? And how many bandits are occupying the road?"

Guard: "There is a group of 7 bandits. We have numbers in 10 armed guards, but seek men to help out. The reward is 75 Minas."

Jim: *Laughs. "75 Minas to have some fun while giving bandits a good thrashing?! Count me in!"

Guard: "It is good to see a man appreciate a good battle. Come with us for some armor and weapons."

Jim: "If it is the same to you, I will use the battle armor I made myself, as well as my trusted weapons."

Guard: "Fine, more to spread around. Will anyone else step up to help battle the bandits?!"

*Other men start to offer help, but Jim pays no attention. He walks off to his house to once again take up the blade, although this time willingly. He smiles, appreciating the fullness this new life will bring him."
