LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Galyn shrugs as Ariana speaks to him, now stuffing the letter into his back pocket. He reaches to his side for a large dangling bag, and after a few seconds of digging, he pulls out a bandage. "Your hands are a little cut up, but that seems to be it. Do you have any abnormal pains when you breathe?" he says to Kernith. "and you can trust me... I'm a doctor." Galyn bends to his knees as he crouches, holding the bandage out towards Kernith's bleeding hands. The letter hangs loosely from his pocket as he kneels down. everblue2er101 906 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Kernith is still quite confused, but grateful to be able to stand. He first addresses the man who... accosted him. Tis fine. I dost not think I am badly injured. The look on his face and bloody hands betray him, though. Although Kernith only vaguely recognizes a few people in the small crowd, Ariana Gracchi is familiar to him. She is now talking to his... attacker. Someone else steps forward. Your hands are a little cut up, but that seems to be it. Do you have any abnormal pains when you breathe? And you can trust me... I'm a doctor. The man kneels before him, holding a bandage. His mind growing clearer, Kernith recognizes him as the man that Ariana had yelled at. Something about a letter? Kernith wondered if the bit of white paper he could see in the mans pocket was it. I couldst use ye bandage, sir, he says gratefully. I dost appear a bit bloodied. He lets the man wrap the bandages around his sore hands, picking out bits of gravel and debris in the process. Nearly recovered now, the young scribe smiles slightly. Tis good ye dost have thine bandage. I dost require mine hands for mine work.
Watyll 1104 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Scag isn't very curious about the letter, but hoping to divert attention away from his failed robbery, he speaks up. "Yes, what is all this about a letter?"
LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Succeeds in wrapping Kernith's hand, listening to his rambling speech. "A writer, eh? I've written a few things myself." he says, not entirely paying attention. Turning up to Scag, he pulls the letter out from his back pocket. "A courier left it here on accident, I believe. It's address to a Lord Arbrek Starbreaker..." he says, putting emphasis on the name.

LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Scowls at the man's quick ******, and sighs angrily. "It's not really any of your business..." he mumbles. Secretly, he wishes to open it just to see what is inside, but could not stand being ridiculed for being immoral. What would his fiancee think if he stole someone's mail? nppeck 601 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Ariana recognizes Kernith as he gets up. "Kernith? What are you doing here? I thought you had library duties to attend to?" She then looks at the letter. "Well, I doubt someone with the title of lord would be particularly happy to have their mail look at." She is curious, however, to see what exactly are the contents of the letter. Perhaps there would be some way of opening it, reading it, and resealing it without anyone noticing.
Watyll 1104 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Forum Roleplay! Yay! Please take the time to read the contents of each spoiler. You may wish to read this thread over, too. Setting the mood: 20 YEARS AGO, A ROADSIDE INN "Now ye wann a story, huh? I got 'un, 'un me grandpappy use ta tell me." ... "Oh yes, it's verr' much true, uh huh, uh huh. Me grandpappy might've been a drunk, but he weren't no liar!" ... "Bah! Just shut yer yap fer five minutes 'n lemme tell this damn story?" ... "Good! Now...'ow did it start again?" ... "Ain't my fault! This story is prolly ol'er than you are, missy. I only tell it ta a few who I tink might be benefitin' from it, like ya. Can't even 'member the last time I tol' it over an ale." ..- "Shush! I juss' 'membered it." "Anyways, there's these peoples, far up north, aye? Err, mebbe it was south. I dunna know. Well there's were these peoples out there somewhere. Tha peoples had two diff'rint gods, a god of light 'n 'un o' dark. 'N it weren't juss like that the gods were up there, unseen 'n doin' whatever gods like to do, oh no. They was lit'rully walkin' round wit their followers 'n stuffs." .. "I'm tha 'un tellin' the story, missy!" ... "Anyhoo, the places dese peoples live in. It weren't normal, no, no. The land wus spit, ye. A portion o' it lived eternally in dis sort o' black, foggy-ness. Tha other people, tha light 'uns, lived 'n sorta a perpetuul shining-mornin' light. Neither side could realleh thrive 'n tha others land." ... "Ye. Grandpappy telled me that tha light peoples' skin would rot if'n they spennt too much time o'er in those shadowy lands, 'n the shadow peoples' skin would boil 'n even'tully catch fire if'n they stayed too long." ... "Mhm, o' ya, real gruesome stuffs. Anyhoo, like most o' dem stories go, the dark 'uns, the 'evil' 'uns, wanted to expand der shadows to tha edge o' the lands, right out to the sea. The light 'uns ob'vusly din't wann that ta 'appen so they had this big war thingy goin' on." ... "No, that onleh 'appens 'n tha happy-endin' stories. No, 'ere, the dark 'uns pushed these light beings right out to tha sea. The dark 'un's god weren't happy with just that, no, no. He wanted 'em all ta die, ta finally end their warrin' 'n so he could rule their lands wittout any opposition. So while these light guys were shippin' out, their god did sum magic stuffs 'n ended up cursing the dark god. He sealed him or somethin' 'nside o' their queen's womb." ... "I dun't know if'n it went exactly as I'm tellin' it, but it happened! Me grandpappy weren't a liar!" "Anyways, the light peoples shipped off, weren't seen from again. I tink. I 'unno wut 'appened to 'em really, it ain't that 'portant. What IS 'portant is wut 'appened to the dark 'uns. So they're lost at sea, right? They ain't got no navigatin' abilities, their ships are sinkin' 'cus they din't know how ta build 'em, 'n they totally lost the light 'un's trail. Eventually they find land and unload." "O' course, this new land ain't shrouded in shadows, no, it's normal, like 'ere. Light 'n dark. It's not as bright as the light back 'ome so it dun kill 'em, but it makes 'em sick and it's hard for 'em to function 'n stuffs." "They start buildin' 'n stuffs, a grand temple to their god that he might be born again, 'n a city to boot. Problem is, they dun have any foods. Their plants dun grow, they're bad hunters, 'n the light is really messin' wit their ability to function." "So while they came over wit a lot of people, it soon became just a handful. The temple was finished, 'n it was grand, but there weren't no city. No babies bein' born. No foods. Slowly they all starved. I tink, at least." ... "Mhm, you is a bright one, ain't ya? That IS why I told ya this story. There's a temple out there, filled to tha brimmin' wit gold, diamonds, rubies, sapphires! Armor 'n swords, erryting a treasure hunter could want!" ... "Their god? I dunno wut 'appened to 'im. Mebbe he was born. Mebbe he never existed. I do know ther's a temple out there...somewhere." ... "O, you're gunna be the 'un ta find ruins I've been lookin' for fer a hunnred years? Ya, I dun believe it. Yer a bright 'un, Karvia, but yer dumb." ... "Best luck t'ya missy, but yer crazy. You'll never find it... But if'n ya do, save a 'speshly big diamond for me, ya? I DID tell ya tha story affer all." Rules: 1. What happens DURING the forum roleplay should have an 'in-game' effect on your character. 2. Coinciding with rule 1, the same 'in-game' rules apply here. No powergaming, no metagaming. 3. Jump into the roleplay in a logical manner. 4. Anything you find during the roleplay will be given to you in-game. 5. I cannot kill your character nor fatally harm them, but I will say now that the experience may be: a.) traumatizing, b.) physically exerting, c.) painful, or d.) all of the above. 6. This will be run in a sort of D-n-D campaign style. "You see a "xxx". It is "xxx", "xxx"." I will be providing screenshots of the objects to help out. 7. If you wish to kill off your characters during the roleplay, go ahead. Combat is based on your fighting prowess, so try to keep your character's abilities in mind. 8. Keep the villain rules in mind too. 9. Don't travel to in-game location, please. 10. If I have to build something, you must give me time to do it. 11. If you have suggestions, tell me! I'm somewhat making this up as I go along and need help. Regarding 'character creation' Last words: This has been ran by both Liri and Alan. I gots the 'okay' to do this. I think nearly any character could find this interesting. There'll be 'loot', stories to tell in-game, etc. Thieves and treasure hunters might find this especially exciting. Without further ado, let's start this off: Karvia sits at the edge of her bed and opens up the journal. She turns to an empty page and removes it with a quick tear. Dipping the quill into the inkwell on the chest to her left, she heads the letter and begins work on the body. "To Lord Arbrek Starbreaker, Father...it has been so long. You have probably thought me dead, but I live yet. I have finally found it! It is just as I had imagined! Soon the riches inside shall be for our family. I am sending this letter first to a close friend of mine, as the messenger bird I am using has been trained to find her property and her's alone. You should, I hope, receive this letter within a month's time. I will also enclose a map with the relative location of the temple. A 'corpse' guards the entrance. Very little is left of the poor soul, just a suit of shabby armor, some bones, and tome found inside the chest plate. It's written in a common tongue so I do not think it will be hard uncovering any secrets that may be hidden with the volume. - With love, your daughter Karvia Starbreaker. PS: Hapsi, please make a few copies of this message and send each off with a courier. I want these to reach my father as soon as possible." MAP: The map is terrible. It serves no purpose, since none of this shall happen in-game. Please don't travel to the location, it will mess me up. Kinda. http://i.imgur.com/PxTsP.png Karvia bundles the letter and map together and wraps a ribbon around the two. Gingerly, she grabs the fat pigeon from its cage, ties the message to its, and lets it fly free into the sky. FOUR WEEKS LATER, HAPSI'S HAVEN Hapsi rushes inside, letter and map in one pudgy hand, cooing pigeon in the other. "Thyst! Looky wut we got! We gots mail! From Karvia!" The inn is silent. Perhaps Thyst is out and about. Shrugging, Hapsi shoves the bird into an empty cage and unwinds the letter. She disregards nearly everything in it except for portion wrote for her. "Bah! Always askin' me to do things I can't do! But I do miss that girl... I'll see wut I can do..." Hapsi retires to her room and begins work on copying. It's incredibly difficult for the bar maiden but she somehow manages. She pokes her head back into the kitchen area. No guests, no Thyst, no sun. Time for bed. She sets the original letter along with the copies on the bar counter for Thyst to find. Though, that doesn't mean someone with sticky fingers couldn't happen upon them first... ((My intro is incredibly sloppy. I'll be in the shadows for now, up till you guys get to the 'temple'. THEN the real fun begins)) ((sorry, on iPod, can't select what I quote)) *rips out the letter and reads it aloud* Well I'll be! Riches it says! Space 2335 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Aeran stands in the shadow of the oak, contemplating. What will they think, a man stepping out of the shadows? He takes a half step, stops, takes a step back, before finally deciding to go to the crowd. He slowly walks along the path, pulling off his cowl to reveal a narrow down face. He isn't the most attractive elf, but he would be considered average. His eyes are a bit too close, his nosed too pointed, and his eyes very small but wide. Aeran stops a few feet from the ground, uneasily shifting his weight from one foot to the other. For a few moments the wind picks up, throwing his hair around and adding to the dirty unkept mess. He runs a hand across it, looking at the inn as he puts the bag into his other hand. OOC: I'm going on a trip IRL, so if I don't post that's why. Only for 3 days.
