The Life Of Cade

Shivering from the night air, Cade pulled his tunic closer. As he ventured deeper into the snowy forest, he continuously thought back to the earlier happenings.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tilda: You idiot! How could you possibly let the animals get out?

Cade: I-Im sorry master... I-It was an accident...

Tilda: Bloody Bastard! Your going to pay for your stupidity!

*Pulling a coiled whip from the wall, Tilda unravels it*

Tilda: Fifty lashings! That should teach you to care more about your work.

*Bringing the whip back behind her head, Tilda swings down lashing hard on Cade’s back.*

Cade: *screams* N-No! Stop!

*Cade makes a dash for the door as Tilda brings the whip back again, escaping the cruel beating, never planning to come back*

Tilda: *shouting from the door* I will find you, you insolent rat! MARK MY WORDS!

Under his breath, Cade mumbles something about never going back. His journey heads South-West, down through the duchy of Westfall. Along the cold path, many things cross his mind. Where will I sleep? When will I eat? How will I protect myself? Although it was meager and not very pleasing, his master still put a roof over his head and food on the table. He had no family, either. His master often told him his family never wanted him, that they left him out in the road. All his life he was forced to work for his Master, cooking and cleaning, slaving in the fields, taking care of the animals. But now, Cade was free. Never again would he return to his former master, Tilda.

Stopping just for some winterberries on a vine, Cade headed for the tallest tree he could find. Often he would climb to the tops of trees nearing his home to escape the cruelties of his master. Now, it was for protection. Cade needed a place to sleep, having traveled at least thirty miles since leaving that morning. Reaching one of the top-most branches, Cade ties himself to the tree with the piece of rope he used for a belt. Tomorrow would be a better day, he thought, drifting off to sleep.

Cade woke with a start, seeing the sparrow on the branch in front of him. Looking up at the sun, it must have been about noon. Climbing down from the tree, he tried to straiten out his wrinkled clothes. Knowing his only chance of survival was in the city, he started the five mile journey back to Westport. There, he would scrounge for food and maybe a weapon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Walking into the city, Cade looks around at the bustling marketplace. About 5 foot 3 inches, he hoped that his raggled curly blonde hair, rumpled clothes, and disheveled look would not draw attention.*

Cade: (talking to himself) Where to go, what to do.. I could ask for food, or beg... No. I will not be reliant on others. I will find my own food, take care of myself.

*walking behind the row of stalls, Cade notices a large sack of apples laying on the ground near a stall*

Cade: (talking to himself) That is quite a bit of food.. What does he need it all for anyway? Im sure he wouldn’t miss just a few apples..

*reaching down to grab a few, he is startled by a hand on his shoulder*

Man: Stupid, stupid boy.. If your going to steal, you should probably try to be a bit better at it. *snickers*

Cade: I-I was just going to borrow t-them.. What are y-you going to do to m-me?

Man: I see that twinkle in your eye when you look at those shiny coins being passed around the market.. You have the makings of a thief. You are in luck, as I am looking for a new apprentice to teach my “skills”.

Cade: *thinking to himself* F-fine..

Man: Meet me outside the tavern at sundown, we will begin our lessons..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so he did. Cade met with the man, and over the next year learned everything he could. How to pick pockets, open locks, hide in the shadows, steal without notice. Cade still did not have anything of worth, just enough to get by. In the tree he called home outside of town, a bag hung containing his belongings. A blanket, some food, a dagger matching the one at his side, and a pen and paper. In his spare time, he liked to write. Cade would write about himself, what he had been through, or what he saw. Sometimes he would just make up things.

After awhile of working with the man, the man began wanting more. He asked Cade to do high-risk thefts, such as stealing jewelry from a home, or breaking into the guard barracks, with little to no return to Cade. Tired of it, Cade set up a plan. He would frame the man. On his next job, Cade would leave the stolen goods with the man and then head directly to the guards. Cade reported the man, and soon enough the man was locked up in jail, ready to hang the next day. Satisfied, Cade returned home to his tree, contemplating what to do from here.

Description

Standing at a meager 5’3, Cade has stunning blue eyes and curly blonde hair. Light weight with a thin frame, he could weigh no more then 110 pounds. He wears his typical dark tunic and trousers with a red bandana about his neck, and his rusty iron dagger at his side. Although he has shows, not always are they worn. He estimates himself to be about 14 years old.

All his life, Cade has served his master, Tilda. Knowing nothing about where he is from or his true family, the only thing he knows about his past is that he was named Cade. He hopes to one day find answers of his true identity, but for now is setting his goals as a place to live.

((Im really looking for feedback on this, if anyone would be so kind as to give me some))
