Attention! Information Regarding Property Ownership in the City of Arethor!

Dear citizens and shop / stall owners of Arethor.

Now that construction of the City of Arethor has all but ended, full order of the city is to be established. Whilst most of this shall not require any effort on the part of you, the citizens of Arethor, there are a number of laws that shall need to be upheld by you.

The first topic which I shall cover is that of housing in the capital. Whilst no taxes are being introduces as of yet, they most certainly will come about in the foreseeable future, so you are encouraged to check the noticeboard regularly.
There are a number of laws which must be upheld should you own a house within Arethor.
1. You may not alter the exterior of the house without consent from either myself, a member of the Privy Council or the King himself. Should you alter the exterior in any way other than placing up signs and changing flowers, you shall be heftily fined, as this is not only unsightly, but also extremely unsafe.
1b. Should you wish to construct a basement beneath your house, you will have to pay extra money for it, having informed either myself, a member of the Privy Council or the King.
2. You may not employ any guards to permanently watch your house. (( ie. no random guard NPCs in front of houses! )) Should any be found, the guards will be forced to leave (( NPCs removed )) and you will be fined.
3. You may not give or sell the house to another individual without informing either myself, the King or a member of the Privy Council. As long as the intended recipient is not a wanted criminal, you may give or sell the house to them provided you inform one of the above stated with their full name. (( and MC name ))
4. You must pay any and all taxes and / or fines you are issued with. Failure to do so may result in you losing all rights to your home, and you will subsequently have any goods locked within your house confiscated.

Repeated offences will result in a more serious punishment being dispensed, ultimately leading to loss of your property.

Shop owners must abide by similar laws, however there are some differences. The laws that shop owners must abide by are as follows:
1. You may not alter the exterior of the shop without consent from either myself, a member of the Privy Council or the King. Should you alter the exterior in any way other than placing up signs and changing flowers, you shall be heftily fined, as this is not only unsightly, but also extremely unsafe.
2. You may not employ any guards to permanently watch your shop. (( ie. no random guard NPCs in front of shops! )) Should any be found, the guards will be forced to leave (( NPCs removed )) and you will be fined. However, you may employ shop keepers to watch your shops provided they remain inside and have only one working at any one time.
3. You may not give or sell the shop to another individual without informing either myself, the King or a member of the Privy Council. As long as the intended recipient is not a wanted criminal, you may give or sell the shop to them provided you inform one of the above stated with their full name. (( and MC name. )) If we are not informed that you have passed on the house, you will be taxed for the house rather than the resident.
4. You must pay any and all taxes and / or fines you are issued with. Failure to do so may result in you losing all rights to your shop, and you will subsequently have any goods and products stored or sold within your shop confiscated.

As with house ownership, repeated offences will result in a more serious punishment being dispensed, ultimately leading to loss of your property.

The majority of stalls within Arethor are owned by Die Bank and rented out to merchants when they require it. The bank will be taxed for the stalls and therefore those who have been rented these stalls must ensure they pay the rent on these stalls, else the bank may remove you from your rights to the stall without prior notice at any time.

All of the laws and taxes that apply solely to the city of Arethor may be changed at any time so it it advised that you remain vigilant for any changes. Bear in mind that should you become a wanted criminal of the Holy Oren Empire, any property you may or may not own within Arethor will be immediately and without warning, removed from your possession.

With Kind Regards,

~Count Althos Silverblade
