ABoyNamedSue 5 Share Posted July 31, 2011 ((I have noticed recently that a lot of people have been complaining that the Ascended never show up or are involved in any of the battles. While this is partly our fault, we have been focused on building the city of Haven, it is also due to some other conditions. Firstly, there is no quick way to travel from Haven to the other cites of Aegis. When an Undead announce an attack they attack immediately, by the time we walk down HALF the White Road the battle is over. We would tp in, make it RP of course, but Undead have said in the past that is OP and metagaming. I personally do not think this is meta or OP because it would add to the RP and create an awesome sense of conflict. Another solution to this problem would be to have the Undead give us about a 10 minutes heads up that they are going to attack. This would allow us to travel and be there for the battle. While I know that some of you are going to scream meta with this solution, I ask you this. Is the Undead admins spawning in massive numbers of mobs meta, or using lightining repeatedly meta. The definitive answer is no its not, because it ADDS to the RP. Finally, the last problem we are having is that the Undead attack and there is one sage and 3 ascended on. That is in total 4 people. The Undead usually attack when they have most of their people on. However, not every member of the Ascended can be on all, or even most of the time, that is just unreasonable. Again, another solution to this would be to PLAN major attacks several days in advance (only with Ascended) to ensure both sides will be represented in full and will have an AWESOME conflict. What ideas to you have to fix this problem, if you disagree with mine?
marimbamonk 1501 Share Posted July 31, 2011 I completely agree. I ditto everything you said.
Eruza 11 Share Posted August 1, 2011 I thoroughly agree and think that all major conflicts between ascended and undead should be planned with the GMs of the respective races.
xDOLABRAx 0 Share Posted August 1, 2011 I agree with the above, and people need to calm down about us not being there. If you were at Haven, you'd know JUST how hard it is to be there.
Alex_Pan 112 Share Posted August 1, 2011 Undead tend to lose all their fights, regardless of Ascended prescence or not. It's kind of hard to fight so outnumbered, and when the ascended arrive they're almost matched in arsenal as well.
xDOLABRAx 0 Share Posted August 1, 2011 Undead tend to lose all their fights, regardless of Ascended prescence or not. It's kind of hard to fight so outnumbered, and when the ascended arrive they're almost matched in arsenal as well. At the same time, the main drive of the Ascended is to wipe clean the undead. Also, it seems that no matter the outcome of the battle, the defending town gets ravaged, we'll be there to try and make that happen less.
Eos 0 Share Posted August 1, 2011 ((I think that the biggest problem is that the undead GMs spawn massive amounts of mobs and attack with lightning, and whenever they attack, Riizu isn't on to fight them with GM powers. It's sorta unfair because the rest of the undead don't do much, while their GM just does whatever he pleases, it sorta annoys me :/ The boat system and the rail system should solve our major transport problems, by the way :D )) -Eos
Riizu 7 Share Posted August 1, 2011 ((Eos, Lightning and Mob Summon are spells for ALL Undead. Currently, most of the mobs are just bypassed anyway by Undead opponents. Please do not complain about Undead vs Ascended magic-wise. We are actually very well matched, especially considering Undead magic is SUPPOSED to be stronger. For example, they get stronger magic, but we get actual allies, and when magic is fully implemented, that means all of the other races magic too. Ascended are meant to be weak alone, but when they join a battle, they can turn the tide, because of our powerful offensive spells.))
xDOLABRAx 0 Share Posted August 1, 2011 Rather, (semi) powerful offensive spell.
Aimin Cavien 2 Share Posted August 1, 2011 Perhaps portal could be set up, in the 4 capitols and in each large large city.

Eos 0 Share Posted August 2, 2011 (( I'm not exactly complaining, but there are some problems, making the ascended weaker than the other races seems like a bad move, especially the fact that ascended are more damaged by mobs (does the race still work like that?) and then they give the undead the power to spawn mobs, doesn't make sense, and the fact that our *current* spells are not that powerful (I know that will change) we are not in any kind of shape to fight an undead attack. Riizu, I realize that the idea of us being good in numbers was good in theory, but in practice it doesn't seem to work, even when we band together, we are still much weaker than the undead, and that's not really in the spirt of RP (in my opinion) I understand that this will change with the introduction of Mana restore, and with more powerful spells, but right now, I'm not sure we're ready to take on the undead in any capacity)) Just my opinion. -Eos
marimbamonk 1501 Share Posted August 2, 2011 I agree. Our only offensive spell right now is fire that extinguishes... which doesn't do much damage unless the person gets out of the fire and stays on fire. We need spells similiar to the that of the Undead. We need a water/air attack, and possibly the ability to summon Lightning as well. Because lightning comes from light and the sky, which is Aengul power.

blindmind 350 Share Posted August 3, 2011 Apologies for OOC: To be honest, I like that the Ascended are a rarity in battle and general conflict. I believe it actually adds to the RP, despite what you might think. In many ways, it reflects how religion is viewed by some in the real world. Many people feel that either they've been abandoned, there is nothing to worship or look up to for lack of evidence, or the matter is entirely of little consequence. In Aegis, alignment with God typically translates to moral warmth and fullness. That might not always be true, although I haven't really seen anything to say otherwise, yet. Regardless, heresy or any similar acts in some way against Aegis' religion are viewed as crimes worthy of punishment. In short, according to law in Aegis, if you don't respect the God of Aegis, you might be looking at some trouble, it seems. I'll continue under the assumption that worshiping the God of Aegis (in-game) means morally good, and doubt or any such disbelief represents morally lacking. I typically feel that being good all of the time is more difficult than being bad anytime (apologies for the general terms), and I assert that this should be represented in games more often (at least the ones with moral choices). In regards to RP, the absence or otherwise lack of action of the Ascended represents a certain religious strife of sorts. It may push the people toward the Undead, having lost hope. It may drive people to moral seclusion, acting on their own desires, having cut themselves off from the rest of society. My point is that, even if there are OOC reasons for complaints, this provides a pretty rich set of circumstances for RP.
