The Last Straw

A man clad in golden armor, bearing the mark of Duskryn upon it's metal plates trudges to the Normandor notice board, posts a note upon it rather forcefully, perhaps with a hint of anger, and trudges off, his armor clanking. Upon inspecting the note, it looks official, decorated and written in a light blue ink, seemingly positive despite it's dire contents. The note reads,

"To the Normandorian Government and it's guard,

My patience runs thin because of the actions being reported to me. I am told by my Kyorl he is harassed by the guard because he is of Mori allegiance, despite his dark elven culture, because of a guard's grudge he's held for forty years. I find your guard and citizen walk into MY city, disrespecting MY people because of my society's past actions. So help me if this is to continue, I will not hesitate to retaliate against this cruel treatment. This is a warning, heed it wisely.

-Head Kyorl Xemn'Vus of House Duskryn"

*Iatrilemar approaches the notice board and notices the new note forcefully attached to the board. As he reads it his smile turns to frown.

The news of guards disrespecting citizens, even if they are from another town sends flashes of anger into his heart. There is nothing he hates worse than racial ignorance and disrespect. He leaves the board and heads to the barracks about ready to burst at the first initiate he finds.

Getting just past the Normandor apartments she stops suddenly with a clear mind. He shakes his head and with a deep sigh turns around and heads home.*

*The High Princess posts a note in reply*

If the Mori or any outsider cannot conform to the laws of Malinor while visiting, then they will be forcibly removed. Whether it be in one piece or however many pieces it takes.

The Holy Princedom will not be showing mercy to those who trespass our laws while on our lands. In the past our kindness was taken for weakness whether it was Mori, Orc, Human, Mali'aheral or otherwise.

Being our closest neighbor does NOT excuse the Mori'quessir or your Mali'ker servants. If your kind continues makes threats, we will take them seriously and you Will be dealt with accordingly.

Consider This, your final warning.

A note is posted in reply to the High Princess'

"High Princess Sythra,

Perhaps I should not be warned, and rather your 'Commander' should be. I wish not for war, I wish for respect. My culture was blatantly disrespected by your 'Guard' and it's leader because I wished to enter the city - posing threats of hunting the Mother's children in the sacred forests and spiting the same creatures, calling them meaningless. I understand my actions have made tensions, but I cannot permit such corruption. I see none of it from you, High Princess. Only your servants.

- Head Kyorl Xemn'Vus"

*The High Princess makes her response, this letter is not so quickly written and the handwriting is more neat.*

Xemn'Vus,

Your culture and way of life is not unknown to me. I had learned first hand how the Mori'Quessir live and their disposition towards others and even themselves. You claim you wish respect. However, how could my people honestly respect a culture based on slavery and sacrifice?

I do not expect you to answer that question. Being raised within the bowels of those caverns will mostly surly warp your perception on the world around you. What we see as an atrocity, you see as a means to an ends. The opposite also applies. What we see as just, you see as weak.

You have already demonstrated this. You tested your might against what you saw as a weakness. It is just now that you realize that the Holy Princedom is far from weak. Our strength has laid in slumber for many years. But it has now awoken. Disturbed from its rest it is now lashing out at those who disturbed it.

For there to be continued peace between our nations and our cultures, there must be segregation. Keep your ways and your beliefs out of the Holy Princedom. When your kind does visit for trade and mingling, they must at all times conduct themselves in a lawful and just manner. They must follow our laws. They must also understand and accept the fact that the ways of your 'Immortal Mother' are Not recognized in the Holy Princedom of Malinor. Any attempts to enforce the ways of your religion upon our people will be met with severe and dire consequences.

When you come to our gates and fling insults and threats, expect to get arrows and blades in return. The Sentinels are authorized by the will of the High Council to deal with intruders' threats as if they were hostile actions. I was there when the last group of Mori threatened our gates, merely for the fact that they were closed. The city belongs to Malinor, not Menorcress. They open under my word, not of some silly 'kyorl' of your nation. Such juvenile displays will be met with violence in the future. So I recommend that if you visit and find our gates closed, simply walk away.

The High Commander you mentioned is now a Prince of Malinor. With this I warn you not to make continued threats upon him as they will be taken as threats against our High Council and the Holy Princedom itself. Any harm or attempted harm upon him will again result in dire ramifications in the future. Malinor has been exemplary in its patience with the Mori'Quessir, do not test us further. Doing so will risk the wrath of Malin's Children.

*Lady_Elene notices the note posted on the board, and sighs to herself saying "I knew that would cause trouble" She quickly writes a note in reply to both High Princess Sythra and Head Kyorl Xemn'Vus of House Duskryn.*

"To my fellow people of the Elvish bloodline, should we not stop this conflict? Normandor is plauged enough by bandits coming from Oren, and many others not following our laws, why must we fight amongst ourselves? Lord Xemn'Vus, I understand your worry at the Sentinels murdering of your Mother's children, the spiders, but I'm sure this was only in defense, while the spiders usually do not harm Mori, they are quite hostile to others, and the Sentinels kill them only to protect themselves and the people of Normandor. I'm sure these killings were not done in any ill-will twoards you, or your people. As for the Commander's actions, I cannot say, perhaps he was already angry because of an attack earlier that day? I cannot remember, but were you wearing armor? That might have caused some ill-will, as our laws clearly state that only the Sentinels may wear armor in Malinor. While I have no authority to apologise for my people's actions, or to berate them for what they did, but should we not put these squabbles behind us? For the greater good of all our people?

Signed~

Lady Elene

Another response is posted,

"High Princess,

I am puzzled why my culture is harassed and picked at, when the other three are as bad as mine. The Orcs slave, murder and disregard your laws, including many others, but I see no insults against their culture or their people. I don't see a racist High Commander, or Prince as you say, disrespecting their sacred beings. I understand you hold a bad past with my people, but is that enough justification to stay so hostile?

If possible, I wish for a meeting so differences can be set aside and agreements can be made. There is no need to flaunt the "wrath" of Malin's children.

*After having finished reading the heated conversation Iatrilemar points out the comment about the Orcs by Xemn'Vus to a fellow elf also reading the board.

Iat comments to the elf about how even though Orcs are brutal in nature they do not push their beliefs and culture onto those of other races. The Mori hold their belief so high that any one person who thinks otherwise is therefore inferior and must be educated by punishment. The Mori choose to be ignorant to viewpoints of the rest of Malinor concerning slavery.

Finishing his comment to the other elf he chuckles and walks off back to his home to scetch out some more home renovation plans to hand to Sythra later*

*An Anonymous note is left, having clearly been left there for a few hours.

I personally as a previous resident Normandor I would like to note the fact that the agressive nature of some city officials would be more than enough to cause conflict despite the fact that a passing Mori'quessir may not have actually broken any laws. Normandor would be best off relaxing its laws, and threats to visitors who disobey even the slightest of laws. I have even had the misfortune to have whitnessed the deliberate killing of a Malinor Sentinel for wearing a hood inside the city by a Prince no less! Along with multiple threats to visitors to the city, where a less agressive tactic would have been better employed.

You pride yourselves on diplomacy, and In some cases I feel you respect orks more than some elves who visit your city.

~ Signed, A Concerned Party.

These are falsehoods and nothing more. If Malinor was such the ugly place that these malcontents claim, then it would not have the multitude of homes that are sold on a daily basis. The fact of the matter is, others desire to dwell here in a number we can almost not support.

These cries of foul play are from outsiders who have transgressed our laws and simply wish to take the riches and wealth that is provided to our citizens. I have yet to have an actual citizen make any sort of complaint to the council itself. At least not any complaints we haven't worked towards resolving.

Three words are scratched below the High Princesses letter.

'"No problems... If Malinor has no problems then why was Prince Darion recently demoted?'
