Mapping The Empire

As ye walk through the bustling streets of Arethor, capital of the mighty Holy Oren Empire, you can see the mark of a Golden Age. New business erupts on every street corner, men arrive by boat with rich exotic goods, a glorious Royal Palace is being raised on the earth yards from the Gates. However, one particularly odd piece of local discussion can be heard often, whether it is a passerby street conversation, bar room debate, or being hotly discussed by nobles riding about on horseback.

"Why doth the Empire hath no map?"

You come to realise by your travels, that this sentiment is a common one among the Empire. So many subjects to the Emperor, noble, gentry, and commoner alike, all beg to ask why the Empire as not been throughly mapped. While it has been done in the past, many atime the maps are crude, with only the Empire's foreign borders being drawn, or only those of Counties and Duchies within it's bounds. Many argue that a more expertly done map should be drawn, perhaps even multiple maps, including those to designate the poltical, economical, and physical qualities of the land.

Examples would include where mountains and rivers are located, what are the names of these physical landmarks. What resources are produced in these lands. Who rules in each duchy, county, and barony. A map would no doubt be well recieved and it's maker/makers well paid.

Should not a task as simple as mapping the most powerful Empire of Asulon have already been completed in this Golden Age? Many think so on the streets and in the fields.

((I've been planning one out with Kai for awhile. Probably won't have it out until August because it will be for the map making competition.))

*Alexander Jrent rubs his chin, he looks to the left, and right, hearing the talk of maps being needed and a faint smile comes ot his cold, hard features*

"I would glady lead a group of Holy Warriors with me, to help mark map our lands*

*Alexander suddenly stops smiling and says*

"If only that King Hightower would respond for once is his dreary life..."

*He mounts his horse, and it goes of on a trot to his manor*
