How old are you?:

27

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

Central - United States of America

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes, I think so. It is my native language. I also have a masters in English education. However, I will be the first to admit that I often overlook some of the finer details of grammatical syntax in favor of reading context. I think most of it stems from roleplaying or writing stories. We do not type/write the same as we speak.. and I tend to type in favor of the latter when I roleplay.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

Laid back, easy going and free flowing. I play games to have fun and interact with people. I'm anti-drama and always looking to help others.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

I don't really have a set amount of time available to play games. I play as the opportunity arises.. some weeks that can be several hours a day, others it may only be a few hours for the week. If I had to estimate an average, I would say.. 10?

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

I'm a roleplayer at heart. I roleplay all the time, from my gaming to my reading. I write stories, create scenarios and actively seek out opportunities to do so. Roleplay to me is about immersing yourself in a setting and contributing to it in a positive way. It's about interacting with others and doing your best to add to the interaction. I can do scripted roleplay or roll with a completely random interaction. Roleplay is what makes a game entertaing for me. I want to be sucked into the world, feel the character and enjoy my time there.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I've been roleplaying in games almost as long as I've been playing games. It started in depth with Everquest and continued into EQ 2, SWG, WoW, SWTOR FoM, Diablo 2, and Minecraft. It ranges from in-game to forum stories, solo immersion to expansive group play.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Meta-gaming is any act which directly affects the interaction or immersion of another against their will. You cannot dictate the actions of another, nor should you act in such a way that would interfere with anothers immersion without first consulting them. An example would be using OOC knowledge in an IC manner, trying to force another character to act in a certain manner, or rail-roading someone into a storyline.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is:

This is the first time I have heard of the term 'power-emoting', but I would imagine that it is much the same as meta-gaming. You cannot emote another persons actions or feelings. Nor should you emote in such a way that does not allow others to respond.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I'm hoping that its an immersive experience filled with active and mature people. It seems far to often that I find roleplay servers filled with people who are more content to have OOC conversations or who only roleplay with select group of friends.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I played on the Kingdom of Aeonis server for several months. I haven't actually left them yet, but there just wasn't any activity. Only once did I encounter someone who was roleplaying. Also, it seems of late that they have either disbanded or have been having server issues.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

I have.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

I do. However, I do not expect to use the Teamspeak server. It is always random OOC chatter which just detracts from my experience.

How did you hear about us?:

I searched around various minecraft sites for roleplay servers. Yours seemed to be the most dedicated to roleplaying. In fact, I believe it is one of the few which implicitly requires members to be in-character while playing.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

This is my first application.

In-Character:

Character Name:

Caddis Blayne

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) :

Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

None

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Caddis was the only child born to Bandel and Martha Blayne. Bandel Blayne was an accomplished fisherman and Martha a dedicated farmer and cook. In his youth, Caddis stayed behind with his mother each day while he father departed for the sea. It was during these years that he came to love cooking and farming. In his teenage years, he would join follow his father and learn the fishing trade. Whether he cast from the dock or sailed out on the great sea, he would always return home with a stringer full of fresh fish. It was a simple life of hard work and hard times, but it was a good life. It instilled in Caddis a sense of strong work ethic and stubborn determination. His father said that a fisherman's most important trait was patience.

Caddis became the sole provider for his aging mother after his father drowned at sea, which was viewed as a fitting death, during a great storm. Each morning Caddis would tend the crops before heading down to the docks. There was no time for chatting about politics or dribbling on about the most recent gossip. However, on some days when the sun would hang long in the sky, he would wander to the nearby tavern and enjoy an ale with the other men. He was always a man of good cheer and a loyal friend to any whom he would call as such.

Now, Caddis lives alone in the same ramshackle fishing hut that his father built. Each morning he tends his crops and then heads to the docks. At the age of fifty-five, his skin is wrinkled and weathered, but his frame is still solid and strong. A long, gray, disheveled beard drapes his face, absorbing the spray of the sea. He swings by the little tavern more often now to spin tales with other fishermen or to catch up on the most recent events; though he still has no care for politics.

What are your Character's ambitions?:

Having been an only child and carrying out the same daily tasks each day for the last several decades, Caddis is looking to expand his horizons. Whether that be through meeting new people or traveling the world, he feels a yearning for change. Perhaps there is more to his love of the sea than just fishing.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

Without a doubt, the fishing pole is Caddis's tool of choice. It can put food on the table and minas in his pocket. However, every tradesman needs a hoe, a shovel, and a good axe.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Caddis prides himself on his fishing and his ability to cook a tasty fish dinner. Any man can learn to fish, but not every man can learn the patience required to master it.

Other Information about your Character:

He believes in appreciating the little things in life. A good smoke of the pipe or a strong pull on the line are much more preferable to some epic adventuring that young people crave. Mind your own business and let people mind theirs and everything will be alright.

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Caddis peers at the commotion up the road a bit. He clamps his teeth down on the old pipe and drawns a deep puff from the bowl. Folks aught not pick on little folk, he thought. 'Course.. not really any of my business. Maybe he owes them money from some debt...

His internal strife continued as the scene escalated. One of the warriors had drawn his sword and seized the halfling by the collar of his shirt. Caddis adjusted his hat and exhaled a puff of smoke as he approached. "Evenin' fellows.. I don't know what's goin' on, but I suspect there is a better way of handling it". The two men turned to look at this old man who was foolish enough to interrupt. "You're right, old man. You don't know what's going on and unless you want to be a part of it, I'd move along," said the larger of the two men. His muscle bulged as he rolled his neck around, snapping and popping the joints as he did so. The other had pinned the halfling against the wall in order to watch the interaction.

Caddis shifted his eyes between the men and the halfling. He didn't know what good could be done here, as one old man could not best two strapping warriors who were half his age. He exhaled once more before resigning the halfling to his fate, "Aye.. just thought I'd see if I could help...". As he was turning to leave, a meaty hand grabbed his shoulder and spun him back around. "Now that you mention it, your buddy here is a bit short", menaced the thug. His accomplice laughed at the pun. Caddis knew that his decision to intervene would end poorly. He decided it was in his best interest to swing first. The blow landed squarely on the thugs clenched jaws, but it only stunned him for a moment. He quickly regained his footing and landed his own punch into the old man's stomach. The wind rushed out of him with a whoosh. Before he could react, the next on struck his chin. As the darkness overcame him, his last thought was the regret of missing out on a night at the tavern.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Caddis peered at the fellow strangely. He never was very trusting of merchants as they only had their own interests in mind. The fellow smiled and waved his hand across some of his wares, none of which looked very useful. Caddis looked over the items briefly before shaking his head curtly and walking away. There would be better things to spend his hard earned minas on.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

"There ain't nothing right about this here, no sir.. Reeks of trouble." He chewed on the pipe as he studied the open door. Surely the owner was nearby, but of course out here in the wilds who knew. Perhaps they had come home and caught a theif in the act and given chase. Or worse. Caddis took one more look around and hurried away from the area as fast as he could. He pondered going back to close the door, but should someone come across his in the act they might think him responsible.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

He had stared at the camp a long while before daring to approach it. Only his hunger and the small strand of hope that they were friendly determined his decision. The warm glow of the fire and the familiar tongue were just too inviting to pass up.

"Hello there, friends, least I hope to call you as such. I'm afraid I've become lost out here and could use some assistance." He returned a wave to one of the men sitting around the fire.

"Lost! Out here? Well, that's no good at all I tell you! Come on in, friend, sit a bit and let us see if we can come to some trade," said a stubby, fat merchant in worn robes. Caddis groaned a bit inwardly. He had no taste for dealing with merchants, but if it was the only way to get back then it would have to be done.

Caddis sat down among the rabble of men and nodded to each in turn. "I've not much to trade.. but if you give me a decent pole or fresh catch, I'll have you a fine supper before the sun sets.."

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

He took another drink of the beer and lit his pipe as the annoucement was made. It was bad enough that the guards needed help and dealing with bandits and even worse that they were recruiting from the tavern.

"Any man that comes forward will be paid a price of three minas for each bandit apprehended." A small line was forming at the front.

Caddis shook his head. "The drink makes a man both foolish and bold. Hard to claim your minas if you're dead.." he muttered. An old man had no place fighting bandit. The only way they would rouse his bones is if they came into the tavern looking to make off with the barrels.

Anything else you would like to say?:

Not that I can think of. I must admit, this was quite the application to fill out.

Other Comments:

Your application is superbly written, but it has been ultimately denied due to some aspects that were not up to par with our server's standards.

Primarily, you have been denied because your biography is lacking in any indication of lore knowledge. Please be advised, in order to join our server, some knowledge of lore must be presented to prove that you have understood and are accommodated to our server's adage. Please read the lore on the website, forums, and/or the wiki to take a glimpse of what our server has done for the past year. Then, implement some lore knowledge that is valid such as city names, nations, and large scale events. Also, please be advised that all lore that is /current/ must pertain to Asulon, not Aegis. Having your character being born from old cities is fine, but be aware that all current adventures your character will embark upon will be in Asulon.

You have also been denied because your definitions for two key terms are not up to par with our server's adage. Please, I invite you to use the link below for an accurate definition for the terms powergaming and metagaming. In your next application, please reword the two definitions and re-implement them into your application.
