Character Name: Mateo.

Biography: Well, technically Mateo just wakes up in a temple and is alive, but if it is a story you require, it is a story you shall get.

Mateo was the only son of an Elven bard. His father was frequently travelling throughout the human kingdoms, performing simple tricks and telling intricate stories for minas. Mateo grew up in an inn in eastern Oren, where his other worked as a seamstress. His father was a poor one indeed, and tried to make up for missing most of the important milestones in Mateo's life by coming to the inn and telling Mateo wonderful stories and giving him exotic gifts from distant lands. As such, the boy grew up with ivory rings and colored glass figurines, but without a father. Tiring of the quiet village life with his mother, Mateo set off with a vial of holy water, a short sword made of Dwarven steel, and an oiled blanket allegedly once accidentally stepped on by Malin.

What Mateo discovered was not a father. Mateo discovered a grave. Left without a father, and with absolutely no skills or connections, Mateo become a wanderer. He would arrive in a place and pick up some dropped trinket or buy some cheap cloth. Then he would turn up in another village, and someone would ask him where he got such an ecotic article. And thus, Mateo became a merchant. He was hardly a large shipping conglomerate, but his wares earned him minas, and that's all he really ever wanted.

Character Age: 19.

Character Appearance: Mateo is thin and fragile looking. At full height he is under 6 feet tall, and he lacks bulging biceps or calfs. Nor does he have a piercing stare, or a twinkle in his eye, or even a horrible scar. Mateo is, to sum it up, forgettable. Mateo is not a merchant many people remember. He is instead mistaken for other wandering Elves, or not even acknowledged. Mateo has the bleached hair common to his race, and dark green eyes. His skin is pale and his face freckled.

Mateo travels in a worn, grey tunic and a faded patchwork cloak of many colors. His boots are sturdy, not flashy, and his belt looks as if it is about to snap (but not from his belly). His clothing is somewhat frayed, and the bottoms of his boots and cloak are caked with mud. Unforgettable, and dirty.

Character Personality: Mateo is a simple person. He likes interesting people and things, but is usually perplexed by more complicated objects. He is a trusting person, and will stop his cart to help people by the side of the road. He does not like to be tricked or betrayed, and usually reacts poorly or violently. Mateo believes firmly in karma, and that meeting interesting people and befriending them always benefits you in the end. Mateo collects small trinkets from everywhere he goes, and likes to look at them and remember the interesting people he's talked to over the time he's travelled.

Your ambitions: Not very money, to be honest. Mateo mostly just wants to get by, and maybe not have to travel so much. He occasionally dreams of owning a shippping company so he can live by the sea and not have to wander to the strangest places.
