Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Serice

How old are you?: Twenty years old

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:(UTC-07:00) Arizona / United States of America

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:I believe so, yes.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I tend to be a bit shy, especially at first, but am an overall relaxed person who can get along with people well. Patient and intelligent, at least I think so, I don't usually have problems with anyone.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: It would vary a good bit, considering I will be starting college at Arizona State University next month and as a result won't have much time to spend on the server. I would guess one to two hours average, though.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I know a fair amount about Role-Play, an avenue for creativity and adventure into a life outside your own, where you can escape the stresses of reality for a while and enjoy life through the view of another. To willingly walk a mile in another, if fictional, persons' shoes.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I've mostly had experience in Role-Play on Internet Relay Chat channels and servers, with a few browser-based Role-Play channels mixed in.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is simply using information obtained OOCly to make decisions, perform actions, or alter a situation that your character would normally not make, do, or alter based on the IC information alone.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-Emoting is taking an action on another player without leaving them room to retaliate, respond, or change the outcome of your intended action. For instance, knocking another player down and and then stabbing them through the chest, followed by a declaration of their death and your triumphant victory... to use a heavily saturated example.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I'm somewhat uncertain, having never combined Role-Play with anything outside of text, be it online games, real life, or virtual boards. I am hoping it will give me a fun pass-time where I can relax for a while after a stressful day of study, giving me a somewhat medieval setting to retreat to in order to escape.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have never played on any other server, which makes this all the more a new experience.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read, understand, and agree to the rules. They were rather reassuring, too.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I promise to abide by the rules and laws of the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak.

How did you hear about us?: By chance, more than anything, as I was looking through the Yogscast server listings, looking for a possible first server to join.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I have never made an Application for this server before.

In-Character:

Character Name: Dairun Anelir

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): N/A

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Dairun Anelir was born to a rather simple life, the only child of a carpenter and a small time gardener, where his father worked through the days sawing down, sanding, polishing, and preparing wood for use in various applications. While, for the most part, Dairuns' father worked as a preparatory woodworker, preparing the wood for use in buildings, furniture, and tools; he also did some of the advanced stages of the work as well, actually constructing the furniture, repairing broken wheels, and occasionally building a garden box for his wife. As for his mother, well, she was a simple person, just as her husband, looking after her home grown vegetables as well as her son.

It would be exciting, perhaps even somewhat commonplace to have some exciting turn of events in which this peaceful life was lost to some tragic, sorrow filled event; but excitement is not always what life has in store, regardless of what Dairun himself would dream of in fits of restlessness. As it stood, life continued on, Dairun learning his fathers trade as soon as he was of the age to enter apprenticeship, and little changed from his early years and into his late teens. Living on the work of father and son, with a little extra from his mothers garden, there was rarely ever a time where dramatic events took hold in this selective world of relative peace.

However, that is exactly what became the driving factor behind Dairuns' choice to leave home, to leave the bubble of uneventful life to see the world and learn more of it than just the 'simple pleasures' his parents had so often given thanks for. His parents didn't object, didn't throw fits over his choice to move on, as they had been expecting it for a good while before the time came when he packed his belongings and told them he was setting out to see the world. That is not to say they did not discuss the matter, rather they spoke of how he planned to survive, how he would stay safe, and when he would return. He reassured them that he planned to learn to trade as a merchant might, after getting up the funds to start out by hiring out his services as a carpenter, while sticking to the roads and towns, traveling with groups when he could, and never traveling at night alone if he could help it. As for his return, Dairun was uncertain of how to reply, he had yet to consider how long he would be away or how he knew it would eat at him over time, to realize that he would not see them for quite some time. However, in the end, he came to agree that he would visit at least once a year, and sent messengers if he could not make it as planned.

With goodbyes given, plans set out, and dreams given room to blossom into reality, Dairun set out the next morning carrying with him the tools needed for woodworking, a well stocked supply of traveling rations, and his head held high as he looked to the horizon. As well meaning, kind hearted, and honest as he normally was, Dairun had been unable to tell them that night that his true goal was to learn more than a trade, but an art; he had known of magical happenings through the stories of his upbringing, but now? Now, he was to chase after that knowledge, not for revenge, power, need, or faith, but for the sake of curiosity, inventive desire, and the hope that with knowledge would come a greater understanding of the world outside his childhood.

Of course, he never lied to his parents, not in truth, as he had no false illusions of magically discovering the path to such understandings of the world right away. No, it would take time, and as such he would do as he told his parents he would; it simply was not his end goal.

What are your Character's ambitions?: Dairuns' ambitions, his goals and his desires, are to learn more of the world, the people that inhabit it, the workings of that which transcends the mundane, and most of all to find an adventure that could fill his life with excitement as he strove to sate his curiosity.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Dairuns' favorite tool would have to be the axe, not because he particularly likes the tool itself, but because it is what he knows, a familiar friend and a reminder of home that he knows he will need at some point on his journey.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? As the son of a carpenter raised into the trade, Dairuns' most skilled talents would be woodworking, and to a lesser extent, the felling of trees to supply the base materials needed for the craft.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): Skin.png

Other Information about your Character: With a fairly simple upbringing, and a rather peaceful one at that, Dairun can be a bit naive about the world outside what he knows, which can lead to conflict later on if he is not careful. While he has not yet had much change to experience it, he sees the world as a grand place where he hopes to see many great things, never giving up a chance to learn something new.

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Dairun pauses in his track, glancing around the area as he tries to get a full grasp on what is happening and how to go about dealing with it. Brigands, thieves, whichever term they would prefer to label themselves as, a type that Dairun doesn't want to get mixed up with so early on in his travels... but he is better than to simply walk away, his own morals standing in opposition to such an action. So, walking up to the trio, Dairun speaks. "Excuse me, is there a problem?"

One of the assumed thieves replies, virtually spitting his words out in frustrated anger, "Ye', there's a problem a'right, little fella 'ere ran off with our horses last we saw 'im, while all our traveling gear was still packed up on 'em!" The other warrior grinds his teeth slightly, looming over the halfling, whose eyes continuously dart off to the side of the road as if contemplating just how far he could run before they caught up to him. "Right. After. We. Got. Paid." The second adds, biting off each word as if it were all he could do to keep from lashing out at the halfling.

Dairun had not expected this, turning to the halfling with a raised brow. "Did you really steal the horses of two armed warriors?"

Of course, the halfling shook his head to the negative, replying in a voice strained with fear. "O-of course not, I wo-would never think of doing such a thin-" The halfling was cut off as the second warrior threw out a left hook, catching the shorter man off guard as he replied to Dairun.

Stepping forward, Dairun held up his hands in a motion that could mean nothing other than 'hold on'. "Woah, wait up here, no need to get violent... look, I don't know if he took your horses or not, and I can't say I'm really fit to judge if he did or not. I'll give you what I can to help pay back what you lost, and I'm sure he would do the same. Just don't do anything brash, or we will all regret it."

The halfling glances to Dairun as he pushes himself back up to standing, nodding to the proposal with a panicked look to his eye. The warriors look to one another, as if holding mental council on if they should accept, before finally the first one grunts, nodding to Dairun. "Fine, but if'n I catch him 'round stealin' again, ye better not be standin' in my way."

With that, Dairun and the halfling hand over what they can to pay back some of what the warriors claim to have been stolen, and the warriors carry on their way. After a long moment, Dairun sighs, turning to the halfling and holding out a hand to shake. "I'm Dairun Anelir, if you don't mind, would you accompany me to the next town? I'd hate to run across more like those on my own... and I want to see for myself what kind of person you really are."

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Dairun takes note of the man's dress, as well as his accent, wondering if this man might be a successful enough merchant to teach him a thing or two in return for work. "Good afternoon sir, I was wondering if you happened to have much in the way of travel supplies?" The merchant replies with a perk of his brow, gesturing to the wares spread out on display. "T'would seem so, would it not?" He replied in an almost mocking tone.

"Ah, yes... well, I was more looking to break the ice in order to bring up another topic, but I am no longer certain you are the person I am looking for. Thank you for your time, but I think I'll be looking elsewhere." Dairun replied, slightly taken aback at the way the man replied to a potential customer.

"Oh? Well, suit yourself then, won't find any better prices than what I offer." The merchant replies with a small huff of annoyance.

"Ah, well, it's not the price of the wares but the honesty of the man, my father always said." Dairun replied, turning and making his way to another vender before the man could reply.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Dairun, having wandered into the seemingly abandoned hut to stop his travels for the night is surprised to have found a sword made of gold within the building. Looking around the building to discover if there are any signs of habitation, and thus an owner for these goods, he finds nothing but worn walls and dusty floors. Dairun, having been taught right from wrong, was against stealing in all manners; however as night closed in on the hut, his fear of what might come with the night got the best of him, and he reached in to grab the golden sword.

Dairun, however, was in for a surprise, as the chest, hut, and everything in it vanished with the rising sun the next morning, leaving him in the middle of the wilds with no idea of his actual bearings; everything about the landscape around him seemed to change. Without a single clue as to what happened, filled with a mixture of fear that drove him to flee and curiosity that urged him to stay... Dairun began to walk towards the rising sun in the hopes that maybe, someday, he would be able to return and discover what exactly had happened.

Of course, the people who found him in the wilds would know, he had become delusional with thirst, a thirst that had caused him to lose consciousness as his dreams ran wild. He was not as prepared as he thought, not yet ready to travel so far on his own, and he would pay the price when he woke up.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Dairun, ever the optimist, was glad to see a camp of any kind, smiling wide as he moved in towards the edge of the small camp. "Hello, I hope you don't mind if I stick around for a while... it's rather dangerous out here and I made the mistake of traveling alone, without any navigational gear. If you could spare some food and allow me to tag along to the next town I would be greatly appreciative."

Of course, the camp accepted, offering a warm welcome and an equally warm fire. Dairun, in his state of hunger completely missed the way they shared the look, only... it was for him. As the night came, Dairun began to recover his strength, despite the sluggish weariness that had settled over him from his days of trying to find a way free of the wilds, and started to notice the anticipation building in the air, the people of the camp looking more and more sinister the darker it got.

Just before the fire was to be put out for the night, Dairun excused himself to relieve himself... regardless of the dangers outside the camp, Dairun could not allow himself to stay with that camp any longer, and so he fled with the eerie suspicion that he was being followed. Closer and closer they came, the sounds of their breath at his back made him want to turn, but he dared not look back as he vaulted over a low mound of earth and nearly barreled straight into the wall of a small town he had missed repeatedly in his confusion from before. Turning back, he found nothing in the wilds behind him.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Dairun hrms to himself, moving forward to listen to the town guard as they asked for assistance in eliminating the bandits on the road outside town. Wishing he could help, but knowing for certain that he was no match for an experienced bandit, much less a group of them, Dairun began searching town and giving up rallying cries to those who might be of aid in the battle that seemed to be on the horizon.

Unfortunately, the town has little to offer in the way of combat-capable people, and so Dairun seeks out the captain of the guard, whom he then makes a proposal to. "Sir, if you would allow me a moment... I do not believe this town is ready to fight off bandits from the road outside town, there are too few who know how to fight, and none will risk going up against bandits with experience on their own." Taking a breath, he nods to himself then continues. "If you really want to get rid of these bandits, you need to take time, train them... us, to fight, to at least be able to avoid getting killed. If you can do that, if you can teach them, more will come forward to remove these bandits from their camps, and there won't be nearly as much death."

Given his plea, not only asking the guard to teach the townsfolk, but offering to stand with them if they taught him as well, the guard captain shook his head and before he replied. "Fine, we try it your way, can't see anyone getting those bandits out at this rate anyway. Spread the word, we begin at dawn."

Dairun grins, his first exciting bit of adventure, if a bit grim, he thinks back to the tales of battles won against the odds and can't help but make the comparison as he jogs about, telling everyone fit to fight that training would be available starting at dawn tomorrow. "Don't let these bandits spoil your trade routes and build up enough force to raid your homes, strike to their heart under the tutelage of the guards who have sworn to protect your home as much as their own!"

<Ending here to keep from going on too long.>

Anything else you would like to say?: Overall I hope to get some enjoyable play in before too long. Thank you for reading.
