Minecraft Account Name: Menarra

Public Character Name: Lar’pa Dener’al

Private Character Name: Var’dagoth Der’nal

Race: Mori’quessir

Gender: Male

Age: 107

Appearence: Var’dagoth has a muscled build with dark, smooth skin. His hair is nearly silver, his bangs dyed red with blood daily, a personal flair.

Personality: Var’dagoth would be considered arrogant to the lesser races, but among his kind he is rather mild-mannered and calculating. He is not easily angered, and shows incredible patience, even to ‘lesser’ races. He seeks the best way to make any given situation benefit himself, and follows his instincts when making decisions. He considers intelligence and guile the most important attributes of a person, and is unkind to those he considers to be stupid. He will not mince words, and speaks his mind, though only to those he trusts. To others, he will say what he thinks they want to hear from him as he bides his time.

Biography: Var’dagoth grew up in a rather un-ambitious family in Menorcress. They were fairly well off, but had no desire to enter the political intrigues of the city, thinking to avoid the assassins that come with gaining power and notice. Var’dagoth grew sick of his family but kept quiet about his displeasure, entering into the Melee-Magthere and excelling in his use of the axe, both in and out of combat. His teachers taught him the use of the Shamshir as well, but he always insisted on lessons with various axes, learning to throw, cleave, and defend with them. He accepted the dogma of the Melee-Magthere to an extent, keeping his personal opinions aside, knowing they would get him killed.

After finishing his time in the Melee-Magthere, Var'dagoth began to delve into the intrigues of the city, listening and watching as plots were made and unwoven daily. He spent years returning to his teachers with questions, learning all he could of combat and survival, then when he felt ready, entering into the world above and learning to survive on his own, letting the harsh overlands harden and hone his combat skills and his wit for survival. Nearly a year he has spent in the world above, mingling with the lesser races as needed but generally avoiding contact with them when possible. He has picked up a general understanding of the common tongue of the overworlders, though he rarely speaks it, disliking the inferior tones and words.

He would find shelter in caves and keep his belongings few and transportable so he could quickly pack up and move, keeping himself on the move and impossible to track down. He would attack travelers if they seemed to have something he was in need of, but generally avoided causing trouble and bringing attention onto himself. He watched from the shadows of alleys, learning how the overworlders lived and worked, knowing that the more he knows, the better prepared he would be should a time come when he must fight any of them. He learned to identify opportunities, such as a door left ajar, a guard that never checked a certain area on patrols, or any of a variety of events that could lead to an advantage.

He found his way to the wild orcish lands and found he enjoyed the danger. The local Orcs were always a challenge to hunt and kill, and generally had food supplies he needed. The deserts and hills of the orcish lands became as a second home to him during his months spent in their wilds, and he learned the lay of the land well. He never remained camped at any given location more than a day or two, always keeping his possessions to a minimum so he could pack up and move to a new place to avoid being found or tracked by the Orcs, who were not fond of a Mori stalking their lands. Over the months however, Var’dagoth noticed that when he would enter caves, he could not see as well as he once could, his eyes adjusting to the sun of the overworld. He takes care to not reveal this fact to anyone, as his own kind would most surely take advantage of that. After about eight months in the orcish wilds, Var’dagoth donned a black robe he’d taken off a weary traveler and went to one of the local Orc settlements to seek out something new.

He found that ‘something new’ fairly quickly, by a stroke of fortune. Var’dagoth entered an ‘arrangement’ with a local Orc for a few months, Var’dagoth would go out and subdue travelers and bring them back to the Orc to be sold as slaves in exchange for part of the profit and access to the Orc’s smithing room to repair his gear when needed. He has grown weary of any dealings with the lesser races, especially the foolish Orcs, and has packed his things to return to Menorcress. Var’dagoth will settle into Menorcress and begin building a new life among his people once again. He plans to work his way into the political intrigues of his people and gain a title and position of authority, in due time. He is tired of women having all authority while the men must work twice as hard for half the respect. He is just arriving back in Menorcress, and is keeping to the dark alleys, watching and looking for an opportunity to present itself…

Your characters ambitions: Var’dagoth seeks power and position, not easy things to come by in a female-dominated society, but yet he tries. He is looking for a partner with whom he can rise up the ranks of political power, and will not stop until he has proven himself and claimed the title and privilege he feels he is entitled to. He wishes to attain enough influence to begin changing some of the long-held customs of his people, and bring males up to equal footing with the females, though he will say nothing of this to anyone, not even his few trusted friends.

Why does your character do what he/she does?: Var’dagoth is driven purely by his ambition to gain political power and rank, and by his emotions. He is passionate about his interests and will use his wit to move upwards. He watches as the women of his society move up with ease, judged merely by their abilities, while the men have to work twice as hard for half the reward. He is determined to gain enough respect and power to start changing this ages old perception that men are not equal to women. The imbalance of the sexes in Menorcress angers Var’dagoth, though he hides this anger in public.

What moral boundaries does your character adhere to, if any?: Var’dagoth’s promises are not given often, or easily, but when they are given, he honors his word so long as the deal it was made for remains intact. He is ever careful among his own kind, a necessity to remain alive for very long, and mostly keeps his opinions to himself. To outsiders he may seem cold and arrogant, but he treats them with basic dignity, if not much respect. Var’dagoth is not opposed to torture to gain information he deems vital to his own purposes, and will beat a slave without a second thought.

What are some notable strengths and weaknesses of your character?:

-Var’dagoth is calculating and intelligent, but if his emotions get in the way, he will act without thinking clearly.

-He can speak the common tongue to an extent, but generally chooses not to, preferring to let people think they can talk around him without him understanding and listening in.

-He is physically strong and agile.

-He is not as cautious as he perhaps should be among his own kind, having spent so much time away from them.

-He does not consider Mori women his betters, and sometimes has difficulty hiding his displeasure at their attitude towards him.

What role will your character play in Asulon?: Var’dagoth will work to bring more respect and equality to Mori males once he has a position of authority to do so. He does not seek to completely topple the females or change their society, merely bring males up as equals instead of lesser simply for their gender. He wants people judged by their intelligence and skill, not the gender they were born.

Is your character loyal or a backstabber?: Var’dagoth is loyal, and when his word is given he will not go back on it unless the deal is broken or betrayed by the other party.

Are you familiar with all server/villain application rules?: Yes, I played a villain as Dagoth_Agahnim on my main account, and I currently play a villain as Menarra_Darkblade/Black_Rose.

Evils to be considered for?:

-1: Thievery, Cheating, Lockpicking, and Jailbreaking:

Var’dagoth is not above simply taking what he wants or needs to further his desires. If someone is not intelligent enough to properly secure and hide away their treasures, they didn’t deserve them in the first place. During his time living in the wilds of the overworld, he often would sneak into small wilderness homes or settlements and take whatever food or supplies he needed. He is cautious stealing from his own kind, but has no second thoughts to steal from the lesser races.

-2a: Murder Type A - Assassinations, Murdering when unprovoked:

Var’dagoth will kill anyone he needs to in order to further his goals to gain a position of power and authority among the Mori. He is subtle and calculating, not often resorting to all-out assassination himself, but if the situation called for it, he would not hesitate to take action to remove an obstacle in his path. Assassination is simply part of being a Mori, and Var’dagoth is no exception to the traditions of his people.

-2a: 2b.Murder Type B - Killing for pleasure, twisted ways of killing (cannibalism, weird fetishes), Torture, Slaving:

Var’dagoth spent several years working the Slave trade, and has no issue with the enslavement or torture of members of the inferior races of the overworld. He is fond of having slaves to do his bidding, enjoying watching them obey his commands, and also enjoying when one refuses an order so he may beat them. Var’dagoth does not personally abide the slaving of fellow Mori, but will do nothing to stop it either, as it is a deep rooted part of their culture, and his hands are already full trying to change the outlook on males.

Why do you as a player wish to and think you deserve to play as a villain?:

I was a Villain back in Aegis, and I spent about a month as a simple bandit, then many months as a member of the Black Hand before killing the character off as Aegis shattered. In that time I developed a keen eye for good 'evil' roleplay, being sure to play the part well and never do something without a reason behind it. I also currently play as a villain on Menarra_Darkblade/Black_Rose, and have developed a ‘darker’ villain in her than I had previously. I have interacted with various Mori over the months and I am being encouraged to apply to make one, and I have decided I’d like to add to this underpopulated faction of the server. The Mori are deep and interesting, and I have always enjoyed interacting with other Mori on my characters, and I feel I can bring good RP into the race.

===Roleplay Related Questions===

As your character wanders the back-streets of Menorcress, you sight a cloaked figure lurking in one of the shadowed nook behind the Brothel: a rustle of cloth is heard, and the figure ushers you in with a skeletal finger. The hooded figure imparts information involving a conspiracy to over-throw the House of Miiystra, and offers you a hefty sum of coin to partake in the planned attack. How does your character react?

Var’dagoth looks at the man appraisingly. “I will not get involved in your squabbles, bother someone else.” He then turns to leave as the cloaked figure scoffs.

“Are you too much of a coward to fight, boy?” the cloaked figure asks.

Var’dagoth turns and growls lowly, drawing his axe and pointing it at him. “I am no coward, you rat creeping through the shadows, and I have my own desires and goals that would be hindered helping fools and cowards like you lot, now speak no more or I’ll remove your tongue…” He turns on his heel and walks out, smirking a bit to himself at the way the cloaked figure was shifting nervously. ‘I will watch and see how this goes,’ he thinks to himself, ‘but cowards sulking in shadow and paying strangers are not likely to succeed.’

Your character finds him/herself watching the Alure d'aphyon: the several fighters within the void maze wield only sticks as they prove their prowess as warriors by battling to the death. One of fighters happens to be a close companion of yours, and you witness him being strategically cornered by three of the other fighters and beaten to death. While the crowd cheers in celebration of the violence, and the death of your friend. How does your character react?

As the Mori falls under the blows, his blood spilling from a long gash in his neck, Var’dagoth stands and cheers with the crowd for the three fighters who showed initiative and intelligence. If the fool allowed himself to be cornered and killed, he does not deserve any mourning, he knew walking into the match what risks were involved. He sits back down quietly, smiling as he watches the rest of the fight, already having forgotten the "friend"

As you turn the corner into a dimly lit alley, a pair of young female rothe (slave/cattle) instantly run up to you. They are begging for a donation of either coin or bread. How does your character react?

As the two dirty and grubby young humans run up to him, he pushes them back, laughing as they fall in the mud and turning away from them, “Go beg your master, not me you foolish rothe.” He says, smiling as the cower and whimper in the dirt. Slaves are of no consequence to him and he will not waste any resources on them. He walks back towards his home, chuckling at their foolishness, then quickly forgetting about them as he goes back to his own thoughts.

A male and female rivvil [human] and a rivvil child seem lost amidst the alley-ways of byr'shuk [outsider-market]. The woman walks with a long staff, and the man appears to have a scabbard at his side. How does your character react?

Var’dagoth watches the outsiders for a time as they look around, obviously lost. He remains in the shadows, a hand on his Shamshir hilt, half drawing it, the sharp edge glinting in the dull light. Watching them until he is sure they are simply lost and not looking to cause any problems, as he realizes they seek no harm, he releases his grip on the sword, and nods slowly, smiling a bit as he considers taking them as slaves, before discaring the idea. He then turns and leaves them stranded in the dark alleys to find their own way out, wasting no more time with thoughts of lesser beings.

Two guards try to break up a fight between your acquaintance and two members of another qu'ellar [house]. Your 'friend' slays one of the guards as he approaches, causing the others to draw their arms. How does your character react?

Var’dagoth remains at a distance as the remaining guard moves in on the ‘friend.’ He frowns as his friend makes a clumsy swipe towards the Guard, who easily parries it and starts his own counterattack. He shakes his head and sighs as the guard quickly slits the friend’s stomach open and he falls to the ground. “Idiot.” Var’dagoth says simply as he turns and heads down to the markets to buy dinner for the evening.

-nods-

He was meant to be a bit different, and I wanted him to have to work through a bit more hardship because of the rash actions of his past.

Okay, I revised the Biography, changing and expanding where his time was spent. the 'decades' in the overworld has been reduced to about a year now, and he has spent more time with his people. You raised a good point with me 'abandoning the Mother' so I've revised it.

Hope you approve~
