shiftnative 3103 Author Share Posted August 15, 2012 The thing about the whole draw by hat and tryout stuff, is that everyone has a bias opinion. People are going to hate people, that's just how it works. But look at it this way, LotC is OUR community. We are all entitled to voice an opinion. Voting just seems to be overrated as popularity ensues, but if we are honest about why we choose who we chose, then there's nothing wrong about that. Why are some players popular? They are popular because either they have something that stands out to te public and everyone can recollect that, or possessing an overall likeness. Not everyone is good, but also not everyone is bad. We make choices that ultimately tell us in the end whether we made a good choice or bad. Well said! I say we nominate who we want representing our behalf in the Olympiad. Lets face it, if you dont support someone's nomination, post who you think would be your candidate. No one can make the decision for you, because that is power gaming. =] With that said: I nominate MediocreGamer for his undying loyalty and skilled roleplaying in the things he does and who he interacts with. The community possibly should decide who get drawn. Either way, this competion for nomination may cause the community to learn more about each other, as the actual Olympics do. domainoft 191 Share Posted August 15, 2012 The names in the hat, would get there by the player interested in participating putting their name forth - it wouldnt just be anyone on theserver - just those who think theyre up to the challenge :] As for "try-outs" it could be difficult to make this happen with so many different time-zones and such ~ I agree Shifty, but if we make our tryouts match the timezone that the Olympiads will be held... Those who can't make the timezone for the tryouts wouldn't be able to make the event anyway. The last thing we'd want to do is put forth people and not have them show up. Keep all ideas coming though, I'm sure we will find the best solution. Revised Tryouts, Selected Champions are sent to compete for a spot in the off server event. We should hold our own competition and have said players prove their claimed abilities. The champions of our competition should move on to the Olympic Games! lev 627 Share Posted August 15, 2012 That's a good idea actually MaddyKL, considering a lot of people are saying that the 'athletes' should stay IC, so therefore we could hold an IC competition of our own to find the best players of who can represent our community, the only problem being the timezones however, so we'll see.
