Out of Character:

Minecraft Account Name: pancho_villa_m

How old are you: I am 14 years old.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Pacific/US.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes.

Have you had any previous experience in roleplaying?: Well a little on another server. It stunk, but really none at all. I have read an insane amount of forum pages on the subject, so experience no, knowledge yes.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, and I like that the battles are more civil than just a bunch of noobs stealing, back stabbing, and cheating.

How did you hear about us?: I saw an ad for your server and I had been looking for a server so I decided to check it out. (The title screen sold me :P)

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: No.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there.(http://www.minecraft...-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/): Ok sure, I can do that.

Definitions:

In your own words, define what the act of role playing is: Roleplaying…….Hmmmmmmmmmm *pensive face*; well roleplaying is where you or more people “pretend” to be someone or something else. It’s pretty much like playing a video game where you make your own character and invent his personality and traits. And not just to rp talk but act it all the time. For example, (in Minecraft)if Bob needs to go to Kal’zadan but it's turning night, does he go, even though it's hell out there just because he has some armor on? No, because he’s afraid that he might die or he has a fear of spiders. It’s not Minecraft people, its Lord of the Craft.

In your own words, describe what the act of Meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is when someone acts OOC (out of character). For example, Bob says “Hello, Joe” although he hasn’t even talked to Joe before, but sees his name above his character. Or playing like you were playing normal Minecraft. For example, you IRL (in real life) might not want to charge into a zombie infested cave right? Or you might not recognize your friend behind a closed helmet or behind a wall because you can see his name plate.

In your own words, describe what the act of Power-emoting is: When someone is Role Playing and tries to RP something that may be impossible, and give the other Player(s) no time or chance to reactor fight back. They tend to focus on their own character.

For example, Bob is the Power gamer, and says to Joe: “Hey come to my house, I'll give you some food.” Joe says “Ok, but only on one condition.” “NO, NOW!” shouts Bob. "Bob ties Joe up and takes him away.” Notice how Joe didn’t have a chance to react or to fight back.

IN-CHARACTER Details:

What is your character's name?: Ma name? Well im da un an onle Aden Thorin’Dun! *Proud face*

What is your race?:Ey, can’t ye tell the difference between a elf and a rhinoceros, ima dwarf ba all accounts, cant ye se ma beard?!

Biography (This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Aden was an iron miner born in a small settlement, south in the snowy lands just east of the old Hanseti, quite the miner he was, his Father’s name was Dwaine Thorin’dun (pronounced dwain) and his mother’s name was Rosetta Thorin’dun. His parents were part Human and Dwarfen, so Aden is a very small part Human; he prefers not to talk about his impure bloodline. His mother was taken by the plague that started in old Seventis. After several months of horrible suffering, she passed away, although Aden currently in unaware of the fact. His father has now moved to Mount Ire to immerse himself in his work (for he is a miner as well) to cope with the loss of his wife.

“Could dig mor’ dan all of Asulon if hey putes mind to it!” Aden’s grandpa used to say, mostly because of this story: One day when Aden was just 17, and been mining for well over 2 shifts, about to call it for the day because he’s found enough iron to meet the quota, but he decides to keep on going for a few more minutes, then half an hour, and then another hour, and mines straight into the biggest gold deposit found since the founding of his village. After that very lucky find of a large gold deposit in one of the deeper mine shafts, he decided to retire on his small fortune, looking forward to living a content life, maybe moving to The Capital or another Dwarven city and maybe writing a book or something like that. Many years later Aden says to himself: “Well, I’m 34 years old, and I a’nt evn started on me book, there be nothing to put in it, I’m so sick an tired from all this laziness, just eating and drinken ale for the past years.” He says this with a very sad and thoughtful sound to his deep voice that comes from his thick brown beard, which moves slightly when he speaks. Very fond of it he is. After no more than a few additional minutes of thinking, he makes up his mind, gets out of his fur chair that was in front of his fire place, and grabs a pack make of strong leather and fills it with bread, water, warm clothes, a blanket, his father’s battle-axe, and his favorite pick axe. Then he changes into his blue cloak with chain mail sown on at places and sets out toward the northern Dwarven settlements to see where luck takes him from there. So out he goes to seek adventure, honor, friendship, and some mighty good ale. Since then he’s been traveling every which where.

Aden has a very large sense of honor, is not disrespectful to nearly anyone (unless they deserve it), and prefers to deal with a problem himself than letting someone else do the job. He is also a very good actor and can fool a villain into thinking he is5 times his strength. He loves to eat. “And twice as much ale as bread!” he shouts. He also has a saying he uses often: “Better 'Dun' than said!”

Your character's ambitions: Aden wants to eventually settle down in some mountain and live the rest of his days in peace writing about his adventures, for he loves writing. Pretty basic if you ask me.

Open Response Questions: By the way I had another Application using the old format so I have 3 extra ORQs to this format because I put a lot of work into them so if you want to read them….

Whilst traveling from the cloud temple, you see a small Halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?:

After seeing some warriors that appear to be bothering a small Halfling, pretty puny even for a Halfling, Aden goes closer to investigate further, and finds that the warriors are trying to steal some minas from the defenseless Halfling. (I assume that Ican’t call them hobbits?) “Those stealin’ basterds, curse’m,” he says as he comes over quite noisily so that the warriors turn and see him. He smiles a wide grin and the warriors grin as well for the opportunity to rob another “helpless sob”. As Aden unsheathes his battle-axe and asks the warriors: “is there any trouble here?” they’re expression changes to slightly worried. Then the Halfling opens his mouth to say something, but the taller warrior steps on his foot, and silences him. “Nah shorty, nothen goins on here, move ye ugly rump out of here and go back to mama.” There’s a silence, then Aden says “Well if ye put it like that, besides I have lunch to go to.” Aden sheaths his battle-axe and slowly takes a few paces back then turns around; as if he was going back, the Halfling sighs, the smaller warrior snickers, then suddenly Aden turns around and shouts “THORIN’DDDDDUUUUNNNNN!!!!!” unsheathes his battle-axe again and charges the warriors, at frightening speed. Dumb founded with the sudden change, they were slow to react. They were about to draw their swords, but itwas too late. Aden brought down his axe on the taller warriors foot, and cleaves it in two, and the warrior falls to the ground clutching his foot and screams with pain and horror. The smaller warrior, not very brave and very scared at the moment, ran into to the forest, “RUN YOU COWARD!” Aden shouts angrily, then turns his attention to the taller warrior and kicks him, quite hardly, in the stomach and yells “GET Up ye sissy go home to yor mama!” The warrior half crawls, half walks into the forest. After he started walking away thinking his job was done, Aden heard a whistling noise, realizing that the guards were firing at him with arrows. He ducked, but not quite quick enough. Although the arrow barely missed Aden’s head, it shot through his right ear, leaving a large gaping hole. Coming to his senses, he starts to run but remembers the Halfling. Quickly he hides behind a nearby tree. Safe from the arrow fire for the moment, he takes a quick glance at the Halfling. Stricken by fear, the Halfling is frozen in place. Aden shouts, ”Fly you fool!” The Halfling now come to his senses and literally “flies” away like he has wings. Aden runs in the same direction, thinking about how to lose the warriors if they decided to chase.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’soffering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent" 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your characters response?: Aden looks at the wares and asks the merchant if he has some sandals. The merchant says he does, but Aden realized that all the merchants wares arevery, very overly priced. “Thieving merchant, I bet those sandals may as well be made of gold,” Aden says under his breath. The merchant asks Aden “What did you say?” in as lightly angry tone, obviously overhearing Aden. Aden thinks he might as well leave now, so he says: “Ye heard me. Good day.” and continues looking for those illusive sandals.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:Aden takes some of the iron. “After all,” he thinks, “its abandoned.” But after some thinking, he decided to leave the sword, even though his love of gold is very strong, because it looks like a family heirloom, and Aden does not want to steal something so precious from the owner, even though he might not come back.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among theforest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: “Hey there mates, got … any ... water?” he says in a very thirsty and tired voice, then pretends to faint on the ground; very convincingly, and almost spoken in his real voice as well. They quickly pick him up and bring him to the nearest hut to give him some water.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard has gathered, and is asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character react this information?: “Bandits!” Aden says, spitting on the ground. “Well of course ill help ye! Only one thang. How much is the reward?” The guard says, “100 minas.” “Well of course ill do it for that money!” he says. And so off he goes to fight the bandits, thinking of all the ale he could buy with that money.

The Real ORQs:

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

On his way to a local Black-smith Aden notices a poor dwarf selling his wares, ranging from some old utensils to some unshaped steel. Aden starts walking toward the stall to get a better view of the fellow dwarfs pitiful wares. The dwarf, seeing him approaching, begins to stand with his face gleaming with delight for the chance of a customer. Aden arrives and greets the fellow dwarf: “Good mornin’ to ye.” The dwarf replies “Thank ye kind Sa’, anythang ye be lookin for in specific?”, ”Do ye happen to have any sandals, do ye by chance?”, “Gimme a moment Sa’”. The dwarf disappears behind a empty barrel and makes rummaging noises as if he was looking for something, being able to see the dwarfs feet, Aden notices that the dwarf was taking his own sandals off his own feet! The dwarf returns with the sandals in his hands” finally found dem, That’ll be 5 minas.” , “That’ll be fine.” Aden says taking 10 minas out of his pocket, placing it next to the dwarf and taking the sandals, and walks away.

You’re in the Cloud Sanctuary late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. The only present monk is fast asleep, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

Realizing that if he takes action by himself that someone will likely, if not surely, get hurt. Aden begins to walk fast towards the sleeping monk to wake him, The Orc’s hand was already straying toward the battle hammer on his hip, while the dwarf began to finger his battle axe while the insults were flying. Reaching the monk, Aden wakes him and is startled by a fury of fists swung inches from his face, the monk obviously in a sour mood begins shouting angrily at Aden for waking him so late at night. Trying to gather his wits Aden notices the dwarf and orc stop for a moment to view the furious monk. The dwarf seeing his chance, bolts toward a tunnel heading out of the sancturary flinging insults at the orc as he runs. Aden decides to follow him viewing his “escape” as an easy way to get out of the argument with the infuriated monk.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenseless man. What does your character do?

Seeing the coins drop on the ground make Aden immediately reach for them, but after considering his actions what did this frail old man do to him? Helping the man up Aden collects the old man’s belongings and asks “are ye ol’ right?” “Yes, I think so.” Says the man in an energetic voice, “this hip though, bothers the life out of me.”, “where ye headed?” the man tells him that he he is heading to Malinor just down the road, on a business deal with a friend involving mining. Aden brightens up at the idea of earning some well needed minas by enjoying his favorite pass-time. Aden askes the old man” do ye happen to have a job I could possibly occupy, I am a skilled miner, Ey?”, “Of course, after all we have been looking for skilled miner to lead our small expedition, are you interested?”, “Iz that a question?! Of course I’ll join ye!”. So they head of to Malinor after Aden searches for a new stick for his new friend.
