In-Character Details

Character Name:Durut Crackedhelm

Character Race:Cave Dwarf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:As little more than a babe Durut was abandoned in the streets of Karik. He was found and taken by an extremely poor pair of dwarves, Hrekk and Jesst Crackedhelm who had been trying, but failing, to conceive a child of their own. They gave him his first name and raised him to their own ideals of honesty, charity and chivalry.

However both his parents were illiterate, and too poor to give him any sort of education. He learned about life, however, form the greatest educator of all: the street. In the slums of Karik he learnt to fight dirty, tell con-men form honest traders and took up regular temporary jobs to supplement his parents meager income. However, when he was 4 seasons old his parents disappeared. For 5 years he searched high and low for them through Karik for them, to no avail. For the next 3 seasons he worked in the slums of Karik, however now he had a purpose. He eventually earned enough money to buy a rudimentary sword and enough supplies to last him a month, before setting forth. He seeks for his parents, and also to forge a new life for himself.

He is 5 feet high, with thick dark brown hair and a long beard of the same colour. He has seen the passing of seven seasons. His time on the streets has taught him to be ruthless, but his honest upbringing tempers this, and he will show mercy given a good reason. He is also a great friend and ally to those who earn his trust. He is streetwise and a great brawler but also is illiterate and would be considered impolite and uncultured by most. He has a strong, if rather strange, sense of morality. He will not lift a finger to help the rich or powerful without incentive, but will always rise up to defend the weak and humble, whatever the personal cost. He earns his living primarily through mercenary work.

A full grown dwarf now, he seeks to leave his humble origins and forge himself a new life the dwarven way; through hammer and axe, sweat and blood, toil and battle. An entire world of new possibilities stretches out before him, a far shot from the squalor of the streets. For fame, riches and battle!

What are your characters ambitions?:Primarily to find his parents but also to gain personal wealth, fame and glory and help the weak and defenseless of Asulon.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?'I wave to him in greeting and stride towards him.' "Hail fellow dwarf, how goes thee? What wares might thee have available for a fellow dwarf"

"Well met friend!" He replies.

"I have a little bit of everything in this shop, food, weapons, tools, trinkets, books, jewelry and more! Have a browse if you want, and call out to me if anything catches your eye."

I walk into his shop, the door closing with a tinkle behind me. As I scan the shelves I realize that the shopkeeper was not lying. Apples, bread, dusty old scrolls, gold nuggets and even more exotic things like ender eyes and blaze rods, the list goes on and on. Most of the best goods are well out of my price range, but eventually my eye settles on a reasonably priced sword. As I've been needing a new weapon of late I carry it over to the shopkeeper and lay it on a dusty counter in front of him.

"A fine choice if I may say so, that'll be 52 minas please," He tells me.

"Very well." I reply, and count out the cash onto the counter. When he has counted it up I pick up the sword and nod my head at him,

"I hope to see you again some day. by the way I never got your name, I'm Durut Crackedhelm."

"Its Hrek Stonefist, son of Hrell Stone fist, kind sir. Make sure to come back again next time you need something and I'll give you a discount!" He replies, before waving to me as I leave the store. Satisfied with my purchase I head back onto the busy street and continue my journey.

You’re in the Cloud Sanctuary late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. The only present monk is fast asleep, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? I walk over to the Dwarf, my innate sense of morality compelling me to do so. I brandish my sword and step in front of him before turning to face the orc.

"You dare so much as touch that dwarf, orc, and i'll cut you in half!" I shout at the green beast, hoping he'll back down from the prospect of a real fight. To my great surprise he lifts his head up to the sky and laughs uproariously.

"oo' think oo' take me little dwarf? Me beat oo' so bad I make oo' blood bleed!"he says, looking down at me. With no warning but a great war cry he swings his axe down with such force that it would have split me from head to toe had I not stepped nimbly to the side, evading the blow. Before i can strike back, however the monk runs over, shouting at us,

"Stop this carnage immediately! This is sacred ground, no violence should take place here! Leave orc, you have shamed your race in the eyes of the Celestial Triumvirate!"

The orc grudgingly sheaths his axe and strides away, grumbling as he goes. the monk turns to me and the other dwarf.

"I hope you are not too shaken you pair, I apologise most sincerely about that foul beasts behavior."

The other dwarf speaks for the first time,

"Thanks for your assistance kind monk, I am fine but I cannot speak for my fellow here. He came valiantly to help as that orc threatened me, and the orcs attack was directed at him."

The monk turns to me questioningly and I realize some kind of response is expected of me.

"Thank you for your consideration, I am fine, I was merely helping a fellow dwarf in need."

The monk nods, turns and leaves. The Dwarf turns to me and says,

"Thank you for your assistance, kind fellow, i am afraid I have naught to give you for your trouble. Is it possible for me to learn the name of my savior? I am Grikes Halfhand by the way."

"It was no trouble, and I need no reward, good sir. I am Durut Crackedhelm. Do you need any further assistance?" I reply.

"Do not worry about me!" He laughs "My thanks again Durut Crackedhelm, may our paths cross many times more. Goodbye!"

He claps me on the shoulder and walks off. I stand there momentarily dumbfounded, before going of my own way.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

"Are you alright sir?" I inquire

I help him up, and begin to help him gather up the coins.

"Watch out good sir, one so weak as you should not travel the roads alone, especially with such a large amount of Minas!"

"I know, I know," He replies."Just leave me be, alright?"

"Are you sure sir, it's dangerous to go alone, dont you know," I begin to doubt the mans sensibility of mind. "If you wish I could accompany you."

"What? So you can kill me, take the money, and leave me to rot?" He spits back at me, "I ain't a fool you damn dwarf!

I quell my rage at his insults and realise that he is a lost case.

"In that case the best of luck to you good sir! I wish you a safe journey." I tell him, before turning away and heading down the path.As I head on i hear him mutter,

"Damn lawn ornaments, cant they leave a man be! Bugrit! Millenium hand and Shrimp!"

Sighing and shaking my head, I walk onwards.
