[ Hello, Dwarves. I am making this thread, as I do not wish for the Dwarven Role-Play Sub-Forum to be spammed with new and great inventions of the Dwarf Engineers. I hope for this to act as a Hub page of sorts, in which the Engineers will post all their discoveries, finds, and all things related. Now, I do not want this topic spammed, so I only wish for the following people to pots - High Up Dwarves, The Dwarven Engineers, Admin's, Lore Masters, and GM's. I realised this thread will go dead in a few days if that is so, you are now allowed to post your opinion | criticism. I also wish for each Engineer to only have one (1) forum post, and for them to update it with all finds. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy reading the work of us Dwarves! ]

The Dwarven Siege Ladder

As Tognik fiddles around with his fathers redstone necklace, he notices that of a ladder. He glances over the plans, grumbling slightly, knowing it is no different to an ordinary ladder. In Tognik's eyes at least. They are reinforced with Iron Bolts, keeping the ladder sturdy, balanced and strong. It would create an excess amount of material, but once placed on a wall, would be incredibly hard to dismount. Of course, the weight would be too much for a group of Dwarves. There would be no way Animals would lift this grand ladder. It would have to be a machine.

Tognik spent the next few months scribbling, drawing, and calculating the machine. The incredibly weight of the ladder would have to be supported by a machine of sorts, but the machine would have to remain mobile. The wheels would have to be made of the wood found on the Kharajyr island, which is not in excess, and is not a cheap resource. That is the only wood strong enough to withstand the intense weight that is the ladder. Tognik looks at the diagram, frowning slightly at it. He knew something was wrong, but couldn't think of it.

As time went on, it seemed such a thing would have been impossible to elude. It would be near impossible to get the ladder on it's legs, once again, no man is strong enough for such a task. Growling, Tognik steps back, looking over a few of his fathers books on the force he said, in which kept items falling back to the ground. There was no name, no equations, but there was a limited force. In the hastily scribbled books, Tognik let a small grin out as he found what he was looking for. With a mass as large as the ladder, metal coils would have to be wrapped around the ladder, in which men would then turn cogs, to rise the ladder off the platform.

Of course, none of these materials come cheap. It would be a hard time convincing Paragon Kjell to lend him the materials. That is, if the machine would even work. The metals would be bent to a degree, that the finest mis-doing could tear the ladder to pieces. The wood, must be cut to the perfect degree, otherwise disaster will strike. The land of siege weaponry is a dangerous one, said to himself, as he continued sketching, calculating, and reading. There was no way this was going to work; But then again, a Siege Weaponists world revolves around the impossible.

The months flew by Tognik like a dream. He spent most of his time writing down the results of his small tests, reporting to the Master Engineers, running his plan through them. He had grown quite shaggy, not caring for physical appearance. His life it seemed, was devoted to this new weapon of siege. He had shown his plans to a few of the Dwarven warriors, and as their eyes gleamed, he knew they enjoyed it. They knew how positive it would be if they could climb up onto the walls of enemies, without the fear of the ladder being cut grasping their heart.

Tognik would constantly explain the gaps in the weapons armor, telling how a blow in one area would result in destruction. The ladder had iron bolts to reinforce, but if one bolt were damaged, it would out-balance the whole ladder, and cause catastrophic results. The wood was a light wood, needing so to not out-balance. The wood may fall at the blow of a large war-axe, whereas the metal would not be touched. Of course, if one were smart enough to destroy one of the metal bolts, it would cause in much more damage. The strengths outweighed the weaknesses, however, and he was given permission to continue with his plans.

With the last few months of planning going by, Tognik was relying more on the exact detail now. He had the major parts of the work out of the way, but now all pieces must be precise. If a small problem occurred, it would be an end to the days of the Siege Ladder. the plans were near done, the calculations near perfect. The day had come, to quadruple check the plans, and make sure no false mechanics had come into effect.

With the calculations double checked, Tognik was beaming as he entered the throne room of Kjell. He simply laid down the plans on the ground, and left Kjell to inspect the plans. He grinned at Kjell, and watched as his eyes widened. He knew he had all fine details correct, but the planning was the simple part. Creating it, would be the difficult part. Kjell's rough voice cut through Tognik's thinking. "'ow many men do ye nee' ta finish dis?" Tognik glanced to the side slightly, nervous at how Kjell might react. He licked his lips, as he looked at Kjell, right in the eye. "Ah will nee' 5 Blacksmit's, 15 Capren'ers, an' 2 o' t'e Engineers." Kjell eyed Tognik, as he opens his mouth to respond. Tognik, dreading the answer, winces slightly...

[ I saw that thread too, but I noticed it was a list of current accepted technologies we have. I just thought we may need a thread in which we can try to get lore approved, but I will happily transfer from this thread to Doom's. ]

(That akward moment when someone does your job, and you feel that you should be mad, but they did a desent job. We can do this I guess. I just feel that lore posts are the best way of get lore accepted as it is easier for people to give critisism or to say they like it and such and it doesn't get changed when the lore writers don't just have 1 post they have to edit all the time with new ideas.)

Edit: (Plus when I get the engineers on their feet I will have a post for the engineers we could put small ideas that are not worthy of a lore post could be put.)

[ Sounds like a great idea, Doom. Hopefully we can get the Engineers sorted, and get a proper thread with all their information involved in it. ]
