How old are you?:

16, I will be turning 17 in November.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

My timezone is Eastern Standard Time. I live in the United States of America.

Do you have a good grip on English grammar and the English language?:

Yes, I believe that my skills are efficient. I have been studying English composition for over four years in hopes that in the future, hopefully when I enter college and past that time, I will be able to complete and publish a novel.

Have you had any previous experience in roleplaying?:

I have roleplayed in two other servers though niether have been as intense and organized (in terms of the amount of information and how strict the roleplay is) than this server.

Have you read and understood and agree to the rules?:

I have read, understood and agree to follow the rules to the best of my ability.

How did you hear about the Lord of the Craft?:

I heard about Lord of the Craft from a friend I often RP with on one of the two servers mentioned previously. We are both interested in hardcore RP in minecraft servers and he seemed to be on the lookout for servers that fit our interest. He recently showed me several links to the LoC wiki and I was instantly interested. After using the “Wandering Soul” option, I watched people RP and decided that this was the kind of RP server I wanted to be a part of.

Link any previous applications you have made to the Lord of the Craft:

I have posted this application.

Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is:

Roleplay is the act of becoming an imaginery character and personifying this character with behaviors, personality and actions that the character would do in certain situations. Roleplay is best done when the roleplayer takes oneself out of the situation and acts solely on how the character would, disregarding their own personal feelings.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is:

Meta-gaming is when a roleplayer uses information gained in out of character situations such as on the forums or talking to a friend in roleplay events. These things may also be knowing someone else’s name by looking at the character’s nametag in the chat or above their head when the character’s in roleplay, obviously, wouldn’t see or know these exist.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is:

Power-emoting is when a person roleplays as an all-powerful never defeated being without giving themselves opportunity for failure. This may also be in the form of strength, intelligence, likeability, etc. where the person is the best at a certain subject.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Malinda Finch

Character Race: Wood Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Malinda is a brown-eyed wood elf that has dyed her hair to the point of it being a swampy green. The color was a mistake at first but as she realized she could do nothing about it and had no other dyes to return her hair to its original color she settled and soon grew to love it. She is a rather cautious wood elf who feels compassion toward nature and tries her best not to disturb it, unless there is no other way to go about things. She is open-minded but often plays the devil’s advocate if she is ever invited on a discussion. She is well read and likes to increase her knowledge by speaking to others and listening to their views.

She doesn’t really care for wearing feminine accessories but she wears a bow because she believes that she could pass for a pretty boy because of the way her hair is cut. The bow serves another purpose, holding her hair, which would pass her shoulders, out of the way so she can see properly. What are your characters ambitions?:

To understand knowledge that comes from all around the world and possibly, sharing this knowledge with the people she meets during her life. She would also like to have a stable job and be a known intelligence figure in elven society. She would love to be a person people come to when they want to know something.

Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here:

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character:

She may seem quiet but when she is around people she trusts and feels comfortable with a new Mal is revealed. She becomes talkative and animated but all that quickly fades if a stranger or someone of higher rank than her approaches. She tries to be mindful of how she appears to others.

She is not a child but her mannerisms and eagerness to follow the lead of someone she sees as her superior mimics a young elf mentality. She was like this as a child too but it seems she never grew out of it.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

The merchant part of Arethor was expected to be loud and busily and even though I have never visited this city before, I expect all merchants to be eager and desperate for customers. This seems to be the same with every city or town I visit. Merchants seem to be quieter with reoccurring passersby than they are with strangers. This visit is no exception.

The merchants at their stands call at the people walking, their voices straining and cracking under the force of trying to overpower their neighbors while at the same time grabbing the attention of the seemingly busy people rushing past them. I take my time, eyeing each stall with interest as I mentally remember how much money I have and if the stall has anything I might need later.

Then, breaking my thoughts a boisterous, slightly obnoxious voice breaks through all the others. I follow the voice, both curious and annoyed before my eyes widen in surprise at seeing a dwarf selling his wares at an oddly shaped stall (I say odd because compared to the other stalls, his was noticeably different. I don’t know why I hadn’t noticed before!).

I approach the dwarf, who quiets in consideration as he tries to assess whether or not I am a buyer or if I am going to antagonize him. I smile a small smile and place my pouch of Minas on his stand. The dwarf grins toothily and begins to show off his wares. I honestly found nothing interesting in what he sold but he had entertained me. The very least I could do was buy a few things from him.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

I stare at the snarling Orc and the cornered dwarf in silent anxiety. There was honestly nothing I could do to stop this. I was not as strong as other elves. I did not have anyone close who could help me solve their problem for them. The dwarf, as I examine closely, seems tense but able-bodied, he should be able to handle himself.

I shake my head, moving to go an alternate way. Who knows, perhaps the dwarf bothered the Orc and caused the situation in the first place. I shouldn’t assume anything. As I turn back, I think of a different way of going to my destination.

It will be fine, I assure myself, they’ll figure it out on their own.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenseless man. What does your character do?:

I rush toward the man in unthinking panic. Even though I didn’t know the man, he looked frail and that fall could be devastating for someone his age. I wonder where his family are, if they left him alone or if he was out for a walk before casting those thoughts aside. It didn’t matter. I wouldn’t ask. Finding out the truth would no doubt lead to me blaming his family members or friends for not looking after him properly.

My eyes flick toward the scattered Minas on the ground. He could have been robbed! What was he thinking?

Sighing, I speak softly. “Are you alright? Do you need me to get help?”

The man is quiet for a moment, letting me lift him to his knees as he stares at me, eyes wise and blank. For a long while, this is all he does and I try and fill the awkward silence he has made with the sounds of me picking up his Minas. I reach for the pouch carefully, glancing up at him then quickly looking away as I ****** it and pour his Minas back into the pouch.

I slowly hand it to him, wanting to leave but feeling as though I should wait until he talks or gives permission.

I watch dimly as the man eyes his Minas in the pouch, eyes scanning the wealth inside before he closes the pouch and smiles. I smile back, unsurely, not really sure what is going on.

“You are a good person.” The man says slowly. I’m not sure if it is his age or if he is purposefully saying it like this, to add emphasis. Nevertheless, I nod. “All of my Minas is here. You didn’t take a single coin.”

I let out a breath, feeling oddly proud and offended all at once. I nod again dumbly before taking a few steps to pass him. The man places his hand on my shoulder, stopping me as he hands me the Minas pouch.

As I try and give it back, the old man shakes his head, still smiling as he leaves his walking stick, stands up straighter and walks away from me, looking much stronger than before. I faintly wonder, as I watch him leave, how many times he has done this and what happened to the poor souls that fell for his trap.

Congratulations! Please wait to be implemented.

On a side note, don't give up on being a Kha', we'd love to have you. The application for that is not that difficult, and trust me, it is awesome roleplay.
