Jielin 1 Share Posted October 31, 2012 Out-Of-Character Details Minecraft Account Name: Jielin12 How old are you?: 15 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Australia GMT+ 10 Do you have a good grip on English grammar and the English language?: I do indeed. Have you had any previous experience in roleplaying?: Yes I have roleplayed on a few RP MC servers. Have you read and understood and agree to the rules?: I have and I think they are great rules! How did you hear about the Lord of the Craft?: From my good friend Minea Link any previous applications you have made to the Lord of the Craft: N/A Have you posted this application on Minecraft Forum? If not, post it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-the-lord-of-the-craft-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r-100-unique-gameplay/! : Yes! Definitions In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is the method of acting out a specific previously chosen character of said actors choice, it is the art of saying/doing what your chosen character would say or do, this can be done on forums, games and even real life. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is simply using Out of Character knowledge, in character chat. For example, my human guard character is talking with an IRL friend over skype, my IRL friend tells me over skype that some bandits are planning to attack the city I guard in 10 Elvin minutes. I then rush on LoTC log onto my character and as him race to the town mayor and say how my char heard that bandits were coming to attack the town. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power emoting is the bane of an RP fight. Its basically emoting an action that someone can’t defend or repel against. For example my char is fighting an orc RP wise, one of my attacks are “*draws his blade and with one mighty heave cuts off [insert orc’s name here]”, its saying the action for the orc, whereas the correct useage would be “*draws his blade and swings it with all his might aiming the edge of his blade at the orcs neck, hoping to clice through it like butter” this attack gives the orc a chance to step aside or block it with his own blade. In-Character Details Character Name: Athairne McHaryn Character Race: Adunian (I have talked with Minea he has permission from Axlrose4078 the current leader of the Adunians of Ildon. Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Athairne McHaryn grew up north of Arethor the city of men, located in the Kingdom of Oren. His mother was a kind Adunian woman while his father was an ex-soldier, who fought for Konagan the second of his name in the clan wars of the Adunians. At the time of his birth however his parents were simple farmers, hacking out a living in the wilderness of the greywise mountains. Ever since he was young he was told that he descended from the proud highlanders of his father’s people, formally known as Adunians. However they were scattered and apart from his parents he had never met another Adunian. So he grew, his life was hard but rewarding, a farmers life. However as young people often do he became hungry for the wider world, he wanted desperately to meet another Adunian, to see the highlands of his parent’s people. So with his fathers leave he travelled the kingdom of Oren, always heading north to where scattered clans were said to live. Athairne was a tall man, standing at 6 ft 4, with large beefy arms (a result of life on the farm) and thick short brown hair, his parents always taught him to help the weak and those who couldn’t help themselves, and to ALWAYS have integrity and honour, which meant no stealing and fair combat (whenever it presented itself). Eventually he grew tired after little success and so with a heavy heart he boarded a ship bound for Malinor ancestral home of the elves. Unfortunetly the great tree of the elves held little wonder for him, so he travelled again. As fortune would have it he ran out of money and so worked as a simple inn hand for a couple moons. One day while serving some raucous men he heard a scuffle outside, running out he saw two men (men he would later realise were Adunian brothers) fighting in the dirt. Eventually they stopped and looked at the watching crowd, embarrassed they got to their feet and walked inside. As luck would have it he was told to serve the harsh highlanders, eventually they got talking and his heritage was known. He later found out that the two men were great uncles on his father’s side twice removed, he was invited to stay with his new found family and so his true adventure began. What are your characters ambitions?: To serve faithfully and loyally to his Adunian clan, bringing some former glory to his people. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He is loyal and honour bound, he lacks great skill in the blade but possesses extreme strength (a result of ploughing fields for most of his life). Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? Athairne groaned as he stubbed his toe on the overflowing gutters, recently he had come to Arethor in search of a job but all he found were rich merchants and gruff guards. Looking around he notices a small but stocky dwarf hoping to sell his wares. Walking over Athairne makes conversation. “Hail friend, I see you have some wares for sale, how much for that threadbare cloak?” Seeing Athairne and hoping to make a quick profit the dwarf reply’s. “Only 200 Minas my good man, its elvin silk weaved with the skins of the orcish nations”. In truth it was only a faded green woollen cloak barely worth 30 minas. Athairne looking at the dwarf and seeing the selfish gleam in his eye replies. “Friend, perhaps you would not look so poor if you made an honest business in the great city. Good day”. Athairne turned without looking back and made his way to the nearest inn. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? Athairne stretches his legs for the walk ahead, it had been a rough day and he wanted to make it to the Riven inn before dawn. Looking ahead he sees a big figure hustling a smaller figure, curiosity turns to anger when he sees the bigger one punch the smaller hard in the stomach. Sprinting over Athairne yells out. “oi you there! Leave the poor dwarf alone! Unhand him at once!”. Turning around the orc reply’s. “Ha Ha Ha, Lat big ugly twiggie, mi spill lat gut!” Reaching down the orc draws a blade. Atharine realises that the orc has mistaken him for an elf, probably as a result of his large height and the fact that its dark. ‘’You would harm a prince of Malinor, I would have 30 sentinals on you at once! Unhand the dwarf before I see fit to split your skull!” ((I was told that you don’t need a villain app to lie, I hope this scenario isn’t breaking game rules)). Confusion and apprehension glints in the orcs eyes, fearing retribution he sheathes his ugle blade and lets the dwarf go and grumbles to himself, running off into the darkness. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: Athairne walking the Malinor highway sees a frail man up ahead. Walking closer he realises the man is in some sort of pain, all of a sudden the man falls to the ground, running over he sees the broken remnants of a frail walking stick, something glints in the moon light and Atharine realises a fair bit of Minas has spilt. Crouching down he helps the man to his feet, putting his arm over his shoulder. “Easy old timer, we’ll take you to the nearest inn and fix up the tiredness in your eyes”. Stooping down Athairne picks up the remaining coins stowing it safely in the old timers cloak. Slowly he helps the man to the nearest inn.
