The northern chill of the forgotten lands of Aegis is unforgiving and the people who settled there are quite the same. Pine trees erupt from the frozen ground forming the grand Heimdall forest where deep within a few of these unforgiving settlers lie. The rough-Northern men and women of New Heimdall work under Earl Ayre Salex to tame the chill of the North. After long days of work many of them retire to the avowed Punchbag Tavern. While the workers fill their cold bodies with warm mead, the Earl handles important business in the small holdfast stationed in the center of town. Many a strong northerner gathers in the holdfast – those closest to the Earl; including the Ulfhaedyn family- before the Earl speaks of his plans. They are to merge with Oren as to protect themselves from the ever-growing threat of the Undead.

Ayre Salex dressed finely – the warmest furs to be found in the Heimdall forests – as he would soon be making his journey to the capital. Many of his men would also dress finely as if a way to make up for their lack of courteousness for the softer southerners. Saddling hardy horses, they make their way to Al’khazar. Many times would the Northerners have to make this travel as every time their plea of absorption into Oren was denied. The Northerners were called “uncivilized” by the southerners and many a time were they spat on before the favor was returned. Salex's bitterness resulted with the loss of his head after a small dispute with the now noble Hawk Whitestorm. It seemed the southerners believed in execution rather than honorable combat.

It was some time later that a son of one of the strong families left his home to make a name for himself, and that he did. The boy Markatt Norsem traveled down to the small town of Galahar, not quite ready for the roar of the capital. It was in that town of Galahar that he met Ezekial Tarus. Markatt, still quite angry at King Enor and Oren in general, was told of Ezeckial’s plan to rebel against Oren. Norsem became great friends with Ezeckial, deathly loyal to him. When the old Kingdom of Oren fell to the Phoenix rebellion, Ezeckial became the new Phoenix King. For his loyalty, Norsem was granted nobility in Oren – even when Ezeckial gave up power. Markatt fathered three sons: Tryggvi, Halfdan, and Jon – only the latter being of noble birth. The family was established and now had a name in the Kingdom of Oren.

Towards the end of Aegis as the people knew it, all of House Norsem had moved down to the capital while the others remained in New Heimdall. The undead threat came closer to their humble village and soon, they would have to move. All men and women, children and elderly, traveled across Aegis to get to the portal leading to the Verge. Upon arrival, the houses split – some getting lost on the travel to Asulon. Though the mighty House Ulfhaedyn made it. Together they crafted a small vessel to fit only their family and traveled the mighty seas to make it to Asulon. They settled on the southern tip of Hanseti where they would start their first settlement. Getting started was tough, many starving and sick – along with the threat of the Pink cloud – they made the decision to move North and settle with anyone they could find. The family seemed to scatter, many settling in different locations.

The news of Norsem’s death spread, and the Ulfhaedyns knew they had a rightful claim to that throne – everyone from Heimdall is related. The old man Ydain Ulfhaedyn gathered his sons and soon they would make way to the capital.

Unlike most houses of Oren, Ulfhaedyn has Huscarls rather than bannermen. Although, they serve almost entirely the same purpose. The ranking system goes precisely as follows.

Thrall

The first rank upon joining the Huscarls. Those who join will begin with a probationary period where their strength, skill, and loyalty will be tested.

Fri-hal

Upon proving one's worth to House Ulfhaedyn, they will be promoted to a Fri-hal. Fri-hal are now full fledged members of House Ulfhaedyn. When promoted they must take an oath of loyalty only to be broken by death.

Drengr

Named elite by the Hersir himself, Drengr are considered the strongest force in the Huscarls. These men, though infantry, are respected as great warriors loyal to whatever the cause may be of House Ulfhaedyn.

Sturaesman

The Select few officers of the Huscarls. Hand-picked by the Hersir, they help make major decisions for the order. They also may lead small groups of soldiers on raids and battles.

The Hersir

The overall leader of the Huscarls who serves under the House Grandfather and the Earl himself. This position is usually taken by a noble.

If one wishes to join, post an RP response to this thread or contact us in game. The RP response should be a posting on a board, or you can send a private message to myself as a private bird.

*Eor looks at the paper, trying to make out what it means. His eyes narrow in deep concentration. Sadly, Eor can not read.
