A Simple Request

Aedric breathes in the fresh summer air of growing crops and trees, he urges his horse forward, to the gates of inner Solace. He passes the pavilion, eyeing the people in it whilst he sets his horse to a canter. He climbs the hill to the bridge, and dismounts his mare. Aedric ties the spotted horse to a nearby pole, and sets across the bridge. Aedric Ulfhaedyn glides up the steps to the palace, and strides into the throne room, making his way for King Hightower and his queen, Kyral.

"My King Hightower,"

Aedric's voice carries through the halls of the throne room.

"I come before you, on bidding of the Emperor, to request that you bestow the lands held previously by Lord Norsem- to us. Lord Therving has no business taxing lands that his blood did not build. But the Ulfhaedyn family? Our blood between us is distant, yet strong. We are cousins, to him, and by your laws, Stoneguard should be granted to us."

Aedric stands, his large posture only buffered by his oiled ringmail stands intimidating.

"We promise to you, that your borders shall remain secure and true by our Huscarls, and no enemy shall walk through those gates unchecked. I offer you my sword, my families, and my Huscarls to serve you faithfully as Norsem did not... Give me an oath, and I shall say it on the grounds that all holdings in Stoneguard be granted to the family of Ulfhaedyn."

Aedric stands, waiting for the King, (or queens) words

Alexander Therving, visiting his brothers future bank in Solace, sees the ruffians and follows them to where they asked the request to the HighTowers. After hearing them ask he quickly steps forwards and says"

"I'm Alexander Therving, and even though I am not head of my house i have to speak on this matter. It's the Therving's land and should, and will be our land. Who are you to try to take our land away from us?, we have kept it well defended, and the people happy."

Looks to the man, and speaks,

"I see no people populating your town, nor soldiers on the walls. You do not have rightful claim to the seat of Stoneguard."

*Listens intently to the man and replies*

"The Therving's do not have to say their plans to you, on that matter who are you?, and what is your house? And even if we somehow did not have the rightful claim I'd dare say you do not either."

Aedric laughs,

"My blood is common to Norsems,"

Aedric slaps his forearms,

"Yet not the traitorous veins."

His Majesty the King of Salvus was talking to his daughter Taera, who was sitting on the armrest of the throne, when a man walked into his palace throne room. The King looked up and allowed the man to speak his bit before responding.

"I must inform you that the Norsems were relinquished of all claim to the land, which by extension also eliminates any distant relatives from having claim to the land. Furthermore, the land has been loaned to the Knights of the White Rose who shall be occupying it for the time being..."

The King looked back at his daughter who was chuckling at something in the throne room and smiled. The King then looked back to the man.

"...I would like to add that I have no idea who you are or where your loyalties lie. I have never heard of your family before and have never seen you before. Why should I then give you some of my land?"

*Chuckels softly to himself and replies*

"Norsem blood? I believe they lost their land due to rebellion. How would anyone be certain the traitor blood does not run through you're veins as well? Why have a new upstart house with it's loyalty's untried and not proven in the fields of battle or even politically, for that matter."

Edit:

*After hearing the King speak, Alexander looks contently at at the Ruffian and states, "And there we have it"*

Turns back to King Hightower, slightly abashed,

"I am Aedric Ulfhaedyn, son of Ydain, hailing from Aegis... and why should you grant us Stoneguards seat? Look at it. Therving has done nothing with it, it's streets run amock with dogs and overgrown weeds. Therving likes to pretend it's active, but it's not. No men patrol the walls, no serfs tend the fields. With us, you will see a lump sum of revenue from Stoneguard, more taxes, more money, my King. With Therving? He has Ager, and swears loyalties to both the Emperor and you, whilst also owning Ager."

Aedric takes a breath, his hand idly sliding to the pommel of his sword,

"You won't find better men to defend your borders, my huscarls are strong, capable soldiers who all have experience in battle, we will vanguard your legions against your enemies, and they'll quake before the might of northmen."

Aedric steps back, and adresses the Therving man,

"We have already been bestowed land by the Emperors, yet we have no need for islands, and guard your tongue, boy. You know us not."

*Turns to Aedric and states*

"You have aquired land?, good for you. And you call me a boy, but seem to forget I'm of noble blood, and you should be respectful to me. Ager's fields are ripe with crop, it's livestock plump and content, It's people generous, loyal, and patriotic. This shall happen to all of our lands. And all I know is that you are cousins to a line of traitors, who have denounced the HighTowers and Horens, this is all almost everyone sees you as, Ser

*Says the word ser in a mocking tone*

"A southron lord, no doubt. I ensure you that I am not Norsem. Norsem was deathly loyal to his bannerhouse, Tarus. Can you deny a man for being loyal to his friend and lord? No? Heh."

Aedric turns, a bad taste in his mouth,

"You still have yet to answer me, what good is a desolate village with no inhabitants?"

The King spoke again, this time his voice more forced.

"I'll add that the Thervings will not be getting it either. As I said, it is being used by the White Roses."

Aedric bows,

"I will speak with the White Rose about it then, my king."

"Before you go."

Kyral sits back down by James, remaining quiet. Waiting for them to stop speaking, she looks at the Therving and Ulfhaedyn as she sighs, looking over to James as she gives a curt nod, fixing her crown. Looking at the Ulfhaedyn as she grumbles.

"Should I be willing to give your land back to you, It would be under strict pretenses that dictate total loyalty and the highest grade of taxes. You yourself may not realize, but Jon Norsem had called my family of 'Undead' blood, I take high offense to any attack upon my family, and as such I had him removed from my lands as a banner house."

Kyral gives the armrest of her throne a light tap, looking at James for a moment, then smiling.

"Your inability to act sooner has left the former Norsem controlled land to be given to the White Roses, of which I have the greatest amount of respect for. You, I have yet to see any signs of loyalty, and yet you come here asking for your blood relative's land back, after it was claimed by us after his treasonous acts?

I ask you, how fair is it to the White Roses? Whom have been given this land to use due to their services to the Empire and their quality of work? I seek out facts, I want to know why you feel entitled to land taken back by the Kingdom of Salvus, the Empire?"

An old figure - obviously aged and well lived makes his way into the throne room, bypassing any guards. He steps in next to his son, Aedric.

"So was' goin' on?"
