VonAulus 2082 Author Share Posted February 10, 2013 I am currently working on that sort of stuff. It takes time to think up ceremonies and such that is original. I was thinking some things along the lines of traditional greeting when you welcome someone into your home. You smoke from the ancestral pipe. You sample some of the house's cattle. You drink the sweet liquid you can harvest from cacti. Less of every one having their own home, but small compounds for each sub family of a clan. Another thing we can expand on is what we do in the case of a death of a fellow orc. We should have some ceremonies where the elders of the clan dress up as the ancestors and welcome the spirit of the deceased into the spirit realm. A Shaman for the clan would facilitate the ceremony. Also, we have special places for each clan where we lay our members to rest. Each clan may do it differently, burial grounds, funeral pyres, catacombs, or communal graves. Some klans could even take it very seriously, killing anyone who steps foot in the resting place of their ancestors. Each clan will set up its own sacred places to facilitate interesting events. Such as having a chasm with old bones of creatures long deceased, The bones are now bleached from years out in the sun. When an orc comes of age, he is sent into the chasm to retrieve the spear of Azog or the mighty axe of Gorkil. (Just examples) Except he will face challenged along the way. Members of the clan, event team, random joe schmo's will roleplay obstacles he has to overcome, Maybe an evil fire spirit or a cannibal orc who fell into the chasm and has been feeding off of new Klan members. They can have their own initiation ceremonies and such, varying on the effort a group of orcs want put into it. These are just a few ideas I am working on, I have millions of course.
