In-Character Details Character Name: Terafir Character Race: Human Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Terafir was born into a relatively poor family, who had to struggle to survive. However, his family was an honourable family, who never took what they couldn’t give back. Even if they were taking some food from a street vendor, they would always pay him back in some way, either with food, or just helping out. But one day Terafir came back from helping to build a house, when he saw that his own house was on fire. Both Terafir’s parents and brother perished in the blaze. Terafir had changed after these events, becoming shady and untrusting. He has few friends, and is always moving until he can ‘find the perfect place to settle.’ Due to the nature of him moving areas often, he is proficient in all things, including mining, woodcutting and other things. His major downfall would be that he is not extremely proficient in one area of expertise. Terafir avoids conflict, and would rather negotiate his way out of a situation, rather than fighting. Terafir does not like fire, but in times of stress he can overcome his fear. Recently he has shown signs of settling down, although he has stated the he is close, he still has not found the perfect place yet. He is not a leader, but he would rather be more of the leader’s advisor, taking the time to think things over rather than making rash decisions. He is an introvert, but he will speak out rather loudly and forcefully when he thinks someone has made a bad decision. Terafir is especially adept at stealing items and sneaking around without being spotted, although he only does it in desperate times, and only to ‘those who have too many items anyway.’ Terafir’s family lived on a small farm, somewhere in Asulon, where he was taught that hard work pays off. However, due to many bad years of farming, Terafir has learned that there are some things that you cannot control. When the crops died because of hail, Terafir and his Father simply went back out to the fields to salvage as much as they could. Although Terafir’s farm did keep some animals around the land, taking care of them was his brother’s job, and Terafir did not get much expertise in this area. Because of this, Terafir avoids animal pens and farms, using the excuse that he hates seeing animals locked up. Once while Terafir and his father were out tending to the fields, bandits broke in to their house. Luckily, his brother and his mother were out at the Arethor market, trying to sell their food. The bandits were in the middle of unlocking the upstairs chest when Terafir came back, sent by his father to try to find another hoe. When he saw that the front door was broken, he picked up the stone shovel that he had brought with him. With that, Terafir walked inside, and came across a drunk bandit, apparently on rear guard. Without hesitation, Terafir swung the shovel, and hit the bandit in the back of the head, killing him. Then, in a spark of brilliance, took the bandits knife and leather armour and put it on. He then took the ale bottle and leaned into a corner. When the bandits came back down the stairs, Terafir swung the shovel, hitting the first of the two in the face. While the other bandit stared, stunned, Terafir walked forward and plunged the knife into the bandit’s stomach, stabbing in between the slit where the leather pants met the vest. Unfortunately for Terafir, his father had just walked in at that moment, seeing Terafir stab the second bandit. Terafir’s father immediately confronted him, in which Terafir was extremely confused. He argued that the bandits had been stealing their valuables, mostly just some coal to bake bread, and so Terafir had a right to defend his house. Terafir’s father explained to him that violence was not always the answer, and perhaps he could have tried to make a deal with them first. Terafir was then left in a state of confusion for the next few days. Unfortunately, the drunk bandit and the bandit Terafir had stabbed did not survive, and Terafir was extremely troubled by this. The second bandit was hauled off of their property, and when he woke up, he went to Arethor, and spun a tale to the guards about how he had been attacked after being invited in for some food and drink. Terafir was promptly arrested and tried. However, due to the inconsistencies of the description of events by the bandit, and Arethor guards were forced to release him on the basis of incomplete evidence. Due to this incident, Terafir will run away and hide if he sees bandits, or anyone else lurking where they shouldn’t belong. Terafir also is untrusting of knights and guards, and goes out of his way to avoid them. However, when they give him reason to trust him, such as saving his life or another’s, he will become more neutral towards them. When Terafir was a teenager, he didn’t like to explore too much. After the bandit incident, he became obsessed with the idea of defending his land. He built and tried many traps and defences, and even simple ways to slow the enemy. Once, when he was testing out a model of a drawbridge he had created, his mother walked in on him and was horrified by what she saw. She had Terafir destroy the model, but he had already written down the dimensions and mechanics for it in a book hidden under the floor. Afterwards, he roamed the farm, looking for a place to hide his contraptions. After hours of searching, he found the right place. But when he walked inside the small cave, he found a chest in the middle of the chamber. Opening it, he just barely avoided the arrows that shot out from a dispenser on a wall. Searching quickly, he spotted the tripwire and disabled the trap. Finally able to look in the chest, he spotted a book, which read, “Stop.” Baffled, he flipped through the entire book to make sure it was empty. Finding that it was, he threw it away. Inside the chest was an almost broken iron pickaxe, and a single diamond. Someone had obviously mined it, then placed it into the chest and created the trap. Taking the diamond, he then studied the trap. It was simple, crude, and easily destroyed. He paused, thinking for a long time, staring at the tripwire, then back at the chest. It was actually a pretty good trap. Bait, snap, dead. But thinking carefully, Terafir had an idea. What if you baited the person, then had a tripwire that dropped you into a giant pit, where you fell to your death. It was simple, and if he set it up right, almost infallible. He then left the chamber, his mind fully on the trap idea that had sprung into his mind. There was no idea to what caused the house fire that killed Terafir’s parents and brother, and guards said that it was an accident. But what kind of fire accident starts with shavings of flint and steel where the fire initially was placed? For a few days, Terafir wandered the ruins of his family farm, wondering what he should do next. He could stay and try to rebuild it, or he could leave. After much consideration, he packed up as much items as he could carry, and took only one look back. The ruins still smoldered, and he paused. Should he try to find out who did it? No, this was not his destiny. His parents wouldn’t have wanted for him to take revenge on the one who did it. Besides, it would probably turn into some bloody conflict. And his parents disapproved of conflict. That is not what they would want. Besides, as he had found out with the bandits, those who were truthful won out, but the ones with evil in their hearts would eventually find their resolution, whatever it may be. What are your characters ambitions?: To find a perfect place to settle and be happy in, with equal amounts of work and rest. He wants to be able to have a fun life, but be able to leave and be alone whenever he wants to be. He wants friends who will understand and sympathise what he went through with his family’s deaths Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He is ready to do work for items or a place to stay, and does not have many items currently. He believes in honor, and if someone cheats on him, he delivers his version of the events to any authority that may be present. But he also believes in letting things sort themselves out, and has been known to simply leave after he has reported something Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? : I pause, looking at his items. Does he have anything I want? I cannot see from here. I carefully make my way through the crowd, and stop in front of his stall. There is no-one beside me, and I feel a little self-conscious. I can see the dwarf is keeping his eyes on me, while still calling out to the crowd. Slowly looking over his items, I spot a basket with three loaves of bread in it. I do not have much money, although I may be able to trade it for something else I have. I pick up a loaf and walk over to the dwarf. I ask him how much it is. He replies that is it only worth a couple of Minas. I do have the money, but I can’t help but notice that all of the other stalls around him are full of people buying items, whereas he only has me. I quickly check my inventory, and find a precious stone pickaxe that I found in the forest. I give it to him and tell him to go out and mine some resources in the caves, and if he sells them right, he may be able to get a good profit off of them. He looks at me curiously, as if wondering how someone could be so generous. I pause, and take a few potatoes from the basket as well. He simply nods, and thanks me. I stow the food in my pack, wondering how I’m going to make a profit off of this food, anyway. Maybe I’ll find some work around here. Even the Creator of the Seven Skies must realize I cannot go much farther. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? : I walk up to the dwarf and the orc, and I interrupt, asking what the problem is. The orc says that the dwarf cheated in a gambling game back at the tavern they were just at. I ask how much the payment was. The orc says the payment was 50 Minas. I think that is kind of ridiculous, and ask if there is a way to solve this problem. Neither the dwarf nor the orc say anything. I suggest splitting the pot 50/50. They both do not agree, and so I ask the orc what job he has. The orc says that he is the owner of a company that sells resources. I look to the orc and ask how much the average wage is there. He gives the wage, and I ask the dwarf if he could work there for the average wage until the 30 Minas is paid off, but he gets to keep the original Minas. I tell the orc that his benefit is that he gets labour without having to pay the dwarf. They both agree, and I move on, leaving them to sort it out. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do? : I quickly reach down and pick up the Minas. The old man stares at me, helpless to do anything. I gather them up and then take a stick out of my inventory, and help the old man up. I then give the man back his Minas, and I slip a few extra in his pocket. He thanks me, and asks me if there’s anything he could do for me. I ask him if he could simply be happy for me, as I have almost no happiness left in me. He thanks me again, and he and I both continue on our way, and I’m still searching for the perfect place to live.
