In Constable Gerald's office, the three constables stand talking around a
desk furiously with occasional shouts. Eventually though, it comes to a
close and a letter is written. This letter is then signed and stamped by
all three Constables who are all tense and stressed from the discussion. When
it is finished, Constable Gerald orders a servant to deliver the letter
to Prince Lancel.

Gerald speaks in a stressed tone, "Take this letter to Prince Lancel. It be from 'is three Constables."

The servant nods nervously and scurries out of the room sensing the tense
feeling in the air. As soon as the servant closes the door though, the
room immediately breaks out into another arguement with shouting and he
immediately sprints off in fear carrying the letter.

The Letter

"Your Highness,

The two Constables and I have come to a decision about something extremely important. We wish to add another rank to the shields called the Centurions. This rank is for the veterans of the Shields who have proven their worth through fighting, experience, and leadership. It be nay an officer rank. Tis a rank the Shields will strive for to prove their honor and valor instead of halting at footman, unable to prove themselves beyond that unless they became an officer. With your permission, we wish to implement this rank into the shields.

Signed,

Constable Gerald

Constable Alistair

Constable Alaros"

((Oocly: It is a rank which is earned through excellent rp in both fights and just the average daily life of his/her character. This is so Shields have something to strive for rather than "Patrol here. Fight here." and become a better RPer in general if they aren't already.))

The Grand Marshal leans back in his desk, shuffling a few reports and papers around. The news of this new added rank reaches the bearded Marshal by a simple report scribbled on a half-crumpled parchment. With a grunting grimace, he shakes his head, tossing the parchment aside as it flutters along the heavy wooden desk.

"They 'ave time to create a fancy rank, yet my personnel report is still overdue..."

He grunts once more, reaching forward for the inkwell, dabbing his quill a few times before sliding up a new parchment, composing a letter by light of candle. The calm, monotonuous scratching and the chirp of a cricket is all that is heard in these later hours of the evening.

((This may be a tad late but did it occur to you that Centurion means commander of 100 men, like a Century is 100 years and a cent is 1/100 of a dollar.))

[[...So? It could be a way of saying that said person is worth the equivalent of 100 men, as in they're good at what they do.]]
