Master Periculus 0 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Out-Of-Character InformationPlease fill out the following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details are accurate. Minecraft Account Name: pman17 How old are you?: 15 Time-Zone: MST Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: Little to none. I have played on servers that claim they offer roleplay but do not follow suit when I actually play on the server. The servers I mention are called Realm of Blothera, and Eternal Imperium. How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: I heard through the Minecraft Forums Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: First application. Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): Yes Have you read the Elven lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes DefinitionsIn your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: This is where you act out as a character in a specific environment. WoW servers that are roleplay act out as if they were the character they portray. An orc would act like an orc should act, not the way any person playing an orc would act. Meta-gaming: This is similar to dramatic irony in literature, where the audience knows information the characters don't. Similarly, meta-gaming is using outside information to keep your character at advantage. Power-emoting: This is when you force an action on another player, like if someone says Jon killed Arwin in one shot You would say Jon attempted to shoot an arrow at ArwinIn-Character Information:Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Elensar Periculus Current Age: 68 Sub-race (if any): High Elf Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Elensar was born among the Mali'Aheral, in ArmaLuna. His parents were scientists coming up in the world. They both were a bit xenophobic among their subrace, and as a result Elensar got little contact with Dark Elves and Wood Elves in his life. Instead, much of his childhood he remembered learning the clerical arts from his parents, and helped many fellow high elves. Of course, being born in ArmaLuna, he could not help but learn the ways of the strings too. Eventually, he grew up to be well versed on his lute. About another 30 years and still living among his parents, the Periculus family moved to the capital, Normandor. They were embraced with many fortunes. Elensar began his life as a cleric in training. The family soon became the average family in Normador, until Elensar's 50th birthday, when his belongings and possessions were entirely robbed. Up until that point, Elensar had a pretty positive outlook on life, and was very optimistic. However, for the first time in his life, he felt rage. Immediately, he set his eyes on the Dark Elves, for no other reason than the fact that he sees many of them dressed in dark colors, which signifies thief attire. He followed a couple dark elves, noticing the jewelry they wore and thinking it to be stolen, not knowing it was truly theirs as family heirlooms. He carried a sword and a few offensive spells and demanded that they show themselves when they were cornered at a lake and a tree root. A mistake was at his part; Elensar was beaten greatly by the elves' knack at hand combat. The greates of the wounds is an ugly purple scar that is permenantly etched alongside his left cheek. Elensar changed that day on his 50th birthday. For the first time, his family knew poverty. His prejudice towards other elves only increased more. As time progressed, however, the wounds of his family were healed, as a sympathetic high elf who had connections to the Heial'Thilln (Silver Council) had heard their story and helped their fellow kin back on their feet. As a payment of their debt to the stranger (who chose to remain anonymous, going by 'Mali'Hiylun- The Elf that follows health') and as a result of his severe beating, Elensar decided to become a master in combat, to become a 'batlle-cleric'. The High Elves greatly appreciate what they call a 'civilized warrior, and Elensar would certainly deliver. He continues to train his magics and swordsmanship to match and sooner than later conquer over the elves beneath him. He will soon become 'Master Periculus'. Personality: Determined. He won't let any tragedy get in his way, not after he had been through the worst of it. He is xenophobic, meaning he is hesitant in contacting other elves, but otherwise he is quiet and calculating. However, a few drinks may make him soon singing songs he learned from the Bard's School. Skills: Herbalism, swordsmanship. Also quite well at performing for entertainment as well as performing magic. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Any other details you wish to share about your character: Although his name is fully 'Elensar Periculus' he prefers going by 'Master Periculus'. However, he needs to realize that he needs to live up to that name.Open-Response-QuestionsEach question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of High Elves are mocking a small Wood Elf child. How do you react? Answer: Master Periculus, approaching elven group: Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya, kin. What have you occupied yourself in doing now? Elf 1: Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya. See that poor boy over there? MP: Yea? (pauses) Elf 2: No, do you see him? His clothes would make a dark elf shiver pale! (laughter ensues) Elf 1: No, but honestly, I can't bear the thought of living among the frail ones as him. Their skills consist of their height near matching humans and dropping swords on their feet! MP: (chuckles) I often though the same things before, but heed my words, kin. You shall not underestimate them. Elf 2: What makes you say that? (nudge from the first elf) Elf 2: Oh, right. I forgot... MP: (Smiling) Kin, you have a mission to attend here. Don't make the same mistake I made (brushes scar in memory). To subdue them is to allow us to prosper. Elf 1: If I let you preach any longer, I would think you as a follower of 'religion' (laugh weakly) (Master Periculus pats both elves on the back, and walks away, glaring at the wood elf child with a cold face)2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do? Answer: MP: Hail traveler! Allow me to help you up. Old Man: (being pulled up by Master Periculus) Oy, a High Elf! Believe me when I say I never thought I'd see you in these woods. MP: (laughs) Then you must have never come to these lands before, stranger. You hail from the human lands? OM: Aye (bends over to pick up coins). Though we 'humans' tend to call it the Empire. I hail from Arethor, surely you've heard of it? MP: Aye I have-- say, you won't find it odd if I assist you in picking up the coins, do you? OM: Whuzzat? Oh, no, I know an honest fellow when I see one. MP: (smiles) What makes you think I am honest? Just hypothetical. OM: Hypo- what? MP: Hypothetical. It means the question is used in a 'what if' scenario. OM: Well, uh, you see, many of the bandits I have come across have been humans MP: (looks at coins) You've been robbed? OM: I hide it well, but that's besides the point. Every elf I've met-- and that's not a lot mind you-- seem to be honest fellows. MP: (picks up last coin, handing it to old man) You've met other elves? OM: Oh no lad, that is way before this incident. I've come here because I've missed a carriage ride to Arethor. I believed the carriage must have gone this way, but my sense of direction may be off... MP: (thinks for a while) Tell you what human. If you tell me your story, I will assist you to a nearby inn and hire a carriage for you. OM: (smiles and agrees. Both walk towards elven inn)3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved). Answer: MP: Ok trader, I've finally decided what I want to buy. Trader: Finally! I swear it took you a good three hours to decide! MP: I want a sheath. TR: Okay MP: and an amulet TR: Sure, MP: And I finally want a stick TR:... Just a stick? What do you want to do with a stick? MP: I am willing to buy all three for 50 Minas. TR: Whoa, whoa, whoa. I may have been a haggler, but 50 seems too low. MP: Take it or leave it TR: Are you deaf boy? No deal! MP:... Alright, how about same price, but without the sheath? TR: Hmm... The price of an amulet alone is at least 120 Minas. and a stick... probably not even worth a set price. MP: Okay, I will pay 100 Minas, both stick and amulet. TR: Ok, that I can do! MP: But the stick you choose must be of the Elder Tree TR:... Hold on, you aren't going to be making a wand, are you? MP: Take the price trader, or leave it. TR:...(thinks long) Okay, I guess I will take the deal. BUT I've got a better one for you. Twice the price, and I'll add in the sheath. MP: (wonders) I don't care for the sheath anymore TR: But how else will you carry your sword? MP: Holding is fine by me. Works most of the time. TR: Okay then, (sigh), let me see if I have a 'stick' (rummages through carriage) Here you go, I can't believ I actually found one! MP: (hands over coins) Okay trader, i bid you good day (walks away muttering elven speech)
Roxforbraynz 251 Share Posted February 1, 2013 A very good first attempt, though there are a few reasons that I have denied you. 1. Now this is the major one. You cannot have your character knowing magic in your Whitelist application. This is a huge no-no. Magic is one of the things you can only acquire after you have been accepted to the server for at least a week and then you make a separate application for it. (Though magic applications are currently on hold.) Please alter your biography so that your character does not know clerical magic. 2. I would like to see your meta-gaming and power-emoting definitions lengthened a bit and an example of meta-gaming given. 3. You're skin is kind of innacurate for a High Elf. High Elves are very pale and their hair is very bright. Also... a purple scar? To my knowledge, the blood of all races and subraces is red. Other than that, an amazing first attempt! You just need to fix these things and your application will most likely be acceptable! With that said, you still must wait a full twenty four hours before posting your second attempt. This will give you time to think and to improve upon your application. If you have any questions or if you would like me to help with your application, feel free to send me a message. I'd be happy to help! Good luck on your next application!
