Cloakedsphere 1471 Share Posted February 2, 2013 ( Just curious - I have to pay taxes on my own house that I got all my supplies for? Kind of stupid if you ask me... :P EDIT: Just noticed that my house is 13. I built that before there was even a dock and I have to pay the highest taxes and I take up the least amount of room. Sweet. I love taxes. :3 I will gladly never pay those! lol )

GloryorSolitude 94 Share Posted February 2, 2013 *Serva stands observing the notice board. He frowns as he sees the new taxes. Taking a parchment from his satchel, he pairs a response to the note, for Ebs to see with any luck.* I may ask, in Asulon Sentinels were not required to pay taxes to the government. Does that still hold true, or does the fact I house three people while providing free smithing and storage for the Sentinels not matter?

Praetor 1550 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Aikanaro frowns as he reads the note, he didn't understand why their council was taking them back to a human tradition. He sighs and scratches his jaw with a slim but rough finger, his eyebrows furrowed deeply. His parents had never told him any takes of taxing in their own lives, why where elves being influenced so by humans? ((My character feels the same as me ooc, I don't see how taxes are an elven thing, elves should be a community of help to others and free kindness to kin as well as open generosity. If anything that's what you should be working towards, not taxes. Edit: also isn't the mins system borked? And I do understand you can't change something from ooc talks and it should be addressed ic but I'd like to know why you are doing human things instead of elven actions government wise nevertheless.)) jtucker40 47 Share Posted February 3, 2013 ((I agree with SpamShok. Taxes are a stretch from the elven tradition of hospitality. But your logic for taxes is that the government is providing protection and housing, but in a city where 90% of the houses were built for and inhabited by the very same people who gathered the materials for their construction, the only housing the government is providing are the apartments. As for protection, the Sentinels do jack crap when it comes to protecting the citizens from break-ins and violent situations. I've seen more murders, robberies, and arsons in the last few days than I have ever seen before. There is absolutely no reason any citizen of Malinor should owe the government anything, let alone taxes.))
VonEbs 1224 Author Share Posted February 4, 2013 ((The fact is, everything you said is totally wrong. 70% of the houses in the city were built by me personally. The Sentinels provide protection from external threats, and there is nothing I can do about their effectiveness. Perhaps there should be fewer villians, but I would take that up with the VA team. If any of you would have actually read the plan, you would have seen that Malinor recieved almost no money from it, simply materials like we already should be. I am not one of the lazy elves that refuses to do there part to have the honor to live in Malinor, I dare you to find another place with such lac requirements for housing and what we provide for you is a miracle for how much every elf tries to impede us. So, I dare you to say that you owe us nothing, I know that if it were not for the current council, there would be no Malinor at all, just a few elves ruled by Oren.)) EDIT: ((Actually, my plan slashed the labor requirement by about 75%))
