IC Information

RP Name (This includes your character’s prefix):

So'Coatlxul

Character Sub-race:

Kha'Pantera

Character appearance (Including age and gender):

So'Coatlxul is an eighteen year old male Kha'Pantera. His coat is a solid silky black, covering his lean, agile body. His chest is scarred from a slashing wound recieved during the trial of survival. He has blue eyes.

What is the personality of your character like?:

So'Coatlxul is rather friendly, preferring to spend his time with others rather than alone. He is fiercely loyal to those who are his closest friends, but perhaps even moreso to those authorities placed over him. Perhaps his most striking character quality, though, is his magnanimous nature. He is very unlikely to feel like his pride has been hurt by an insult, especially if from an ape.

Brief Biography of this character’s life thus far (taking into account the rules against creating a character born outside of the empire):

Born relatively recently in Xer'Tlassu, So'Coatlxul is 18 years of age. His parents were good enough to teach him kharajyr culture. His instruction saw him easily through the trial of crafting, during which he crafted a fine composite bow. He managed to pass the trial of the jungle, during which he barely managed to tame a wolf.

Spending the first month during the trial of survival accustoming himself to brief periods of contact with apes, So'Coatlxul managed to gain enough knowledge to lure one away from the group of others. He then turned on the ape, and was scarred across the chest during the ensuing fight. So'Coatlxul withdrew, blending back into the night. Using this experience as a lesson, he decided that ambush was a better method of catching his prey. He set an ambush on the road to Normandor. Near sunrise, an adult wood elf passed along the road. So'Coatlxul leaped from the darkness, delivering a fatal blow to the unsuspecting elf. He passed the test.

When the priest handed him the dagger during the trial of faith, So'Coatlxul was relatively sure he would easily stab himself and finish the test. Lifting the dagger into the air in front of him, he brought it down in a decisive thrust, but stopped short. His instinct to survive was taking over. Grimacing, he placed the blade on his skin. He pressed it into his skin, cutting himself slightly. Praying to his godess for courage and faith, he finally managed to plunge the dagger deep into himself. After being healed, it was declared that he had passed the test.

So'Coatlxul passed the final test, but its details are not herein mentioned, for fear of destorying the surprise that the test presents. After passing all the tests, he was finally accepted into Kharajyr culture as a full adult, to be respected equally with others of his kind.

Soon after his triumph over the trials, Asulon started to crumble. The offer of the monks was accepted by Tla'Morthawl, but his family had doubts. After a bit of debate, they finally decided to leave. His mother wanted to say goodbye to her new home one last time, and stayed behind for a day. While he and his father started on the path to the Wilven Sanctuary, fighting broke out in the streets of Menorcress, and carried over into the mostly-empty Xer'Tlassu. His mother never arrived on the Kharajyr ship.

Looking forward to the new land as a place of new opportunity, So'Coatlxul hopes to advance his people and fulfill the desires of his godess by joining the Karakatuan Empire's military. He is sure his skills in the ambush could be put to good use in future skirmishes and battles that take place.

Character’s ambitions within the Kharajyr:

So'Coatlxul makes known his hope to serve the Karakatuan Empire in any way possible. In his own heart, he hopes to eventually become one of the elites of the Kharajyr military, the moonblades, or to die in the service of his godess on the way there.

Character’s strengths/weaknesses:

So'Coatlxul is exceptional at being stealthy and is very skilled at putting his opponents out of comission quickly, however, he is not massive enough to have staying power in a large-scale battle.

Situational Roleplay Questions

1. You are heading home from a successful hunting trip when a group of three heavily armoured humans jump out from behind a tree and start demanding the surrender of your catch over to them. Each man has a sword drawn and they are gradually pacing towards you...

How does your character react?

Hissing in fear, So'Coatlxul assesses the situation. All three apes are approaching from the front, holding torches. There is no moon on this night. Grasping his prey in his jaws, he falls to all fours, turning and fleeing. After running out of earshot of the apes, he turns swiftly into the forest to his left, concealing himself as best as he can. He prepares to fight for his pride if he is found. Luckily, the apes sprint by, assuming he had continued running in a straight line away from them. After waiting for hours, he finally convinces himself that no more apes are coming his way. He sets off, eager to return to his home.

2. You arrive at the temple of Metztli only to see one of your closest friends stealing the sacred blue gems from the altar, a most unholy act for a Kharajyr.

How does your character react?

So'Coatlxul gasps in shock, unable to speak for a few moments. Hearing him, his friend's head snaps to attention when So'Coatlxul is standing. Eyes widening, his friend flees the temple with the jewels in hand, unable to move on all fours. Not even thinking of calling the Ja', So'Coatlxul drops to all fours, bounding after his former friend. When he overtakes him, he leaps onto his back, pinning him down.

"Wut een ze naym uv Metztli ees djou doeeng?" His friend remains silent, utterly at a loss for words. "Ur djou nut eshaimed? Dis ees deesgrace!"

"I... I thut I coold eescape..." His friend says.

"Djou du nut disserve tu be kha'!" So'Coatlxul calls for the Do', who race to the scene. They are informed of So'Coatlxul's friend's crimes, and take him to the temple for sacrificing. So'Coatlxul thinks to himself in the jungle, devastated at the loss of a dear friend who he loved. Eventually, he turns to prayer to Metztli, as he did during his trials. He is sure it will bring him through this.

3. You are in the Cloud Temple when a stout, angry little dwarf begins yelling highly racist terms towards you at the top of his lungs. Although unarmed, the dwarf continues to yell after he makes eye contact with you.

How does your character react?

So'Coatlxul is barely affected by the ape's mocking of him. Swiveling his ears the other direction, he seems more interested in a butterfly fluttering in the breeze. After continuing to berate the kha' the ape finally gives up, disappointed, and walks away. So'Coatlxul returns to what he was doing before the ape started mocking him, with the distinct feeling of superiority over the other races.

4. Fire has broken out over the jungle city and you can hear the screaming of two Kha’ nearby. As you go investigate, you notice that one of your friends and the Tlatlanni’s white-furred child have gotten themselves trapped in opposite ends of a burning building. The roof creaks above you, if you were to get involved, you would only have time to save one before the building collapsed.

How does your character react?

He starts toward the Tla's child, but his mind turns to his friend's pleas for help. The internal struggle continues for only a few seconds, and So'Coatlxul begins again towards the Tla's child, pace redoubled. Grabbing him by the scruff of his neck, he leaps from the building the way he had come. The roof collapses the moment he escapes, fire shooting out around him and the cub, searing the tips of his furs. A final screech of pain and fear from his friend ends the ordeal. Later, after returning the cub to the Tlatlanni, So'Coatlxul mourns for his lost friend. His prayers reveal to him that he made the right choice, but it will take time for his heart to heal fully.
