Current Age: 19 seasons (135 years)
Sub-race (if any): Mountain Dwarf
Clan (if any): None
Past /
History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Argathom has always been a clan-less dwarf. He lived with his parents deep within the mountains in Aegis as a beardling. He grew as a farmer under his father's tutelage and even learned how to fight in case he ever needed to defend himself or anyone dear to him. Argathom was the eldest sibling among three. He has a younger sister who was lost in the chaos of Iblees' decimation of Aegis, and a younger brother who died as a baby to disease.

As Argathom grew, his father was called to battle during the Great War. His father never returned home alive. As such, Argathom was left the only male of the family. He and his family moved to the nearest town, mother working as a jeweler  sister working as a barmaid, and young Argathom enlisted into the military. Argathom was out on a training mission one day and news reached his superior officer that undead had attacked his town in a raid. The only survivors were a few more noble families, some civilians  and about a fifth of the military stationed there. The decision was made to move to the current dwarven capital as refugees. Argathom and his squad headed back home, and upon arrival, Argathom learned that his mother had been killed in the raid. He and his sister were the only two left of their family.

During the journey to the capital, Argathom met a few travelling warrior dwarves. They were holy warriors they said, under the great and powerful Dungrimm. With their deity in mind, the light in their hearts, and courage to push forward, they went into the world to smite evil and bring light back into the world. The warriors talked to Argathom at great length about their ideals and mission. Argathom decided to one day become a holy warrior like these brave dwarves.

Upon reaching the capital, Argathom and the rest of his people were allowed little rest, for the wrath of Iblees forced everyone to the sea. On the way there, bandits attacked and his sister went missing. Bound by his oath to protect all the dwarves travelling to the coast, he was unable to search for her. With tears in his beard, Argathom pushed onward with the rest of his people. When the boats were finished to cross the great expanse of ocean before them and the storms settled, Argathom took one last look upon Aegis before deciding he would not let corruption run free without going through him first when they finally hit shore again.

Upon landing, he traveled with some other warriors for awhile, exploring the new land. He traveled from place to place, looking for what it meant to be a holy warrior, before finally learning that it was the art of sacrificing the self for the betterment of those around him. He settled as a hermit to reflect on all the values he had learned before finally returning to society under a new goal. He looked out upon the world before him, and finally breathed in the first breath of his new life.
Ambitions for the Future: 1. Search for a place to call home. 2. From there, establish an order to protect the innocent and fight against all manner of evil. 3. Grow the order. 4. Look for info on his sister when not tending to the order. 5. Bring the fight to Iblees.
Personality: Argathom is a dwarf of the light and a stalwart defender of anyone he sees to be good. He values integrity, morality, and honor in all things. He has a bit of a zealous side that can sometimes overcome his senses, but that side doesn't manifest itself often.
Skills: Swordsmanship, Blacksmithing, Repair, Farming, Mining.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Picture is attached.

Any other details you wish to share about your character: Nope.

Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____

1. Whilst mining deep in the undergrounds of Kalos you see a large deposit of diamond ore at the other side of the ravine you are on. There is a very thin rock bridge that looks precariously unstable, but it is the only way to access the deposit. What do you do?

Answer: Quick to act, I may be, but I'd have to suffer from Roteye to cross this! Examining the bridge, Argathom quickly deduces to test the bridge. He begins by hitting it with the side of his pickaxe. The bridge crumbles a bit. Argathom hits it twice more, knocking away some more weak parts of the bridge. By this time, it is too obviously going to break under the weight of a dwarven soldier. He then heads back to town, to find a career miner, and a veteran at that. Argathom tells this seasoned dwarf of the vein, but also of the chasm barring passage to it. He strikes a deal for an equal trade. When the diamonds have been retrieved, to determine the worth of them and then trade their worth for the same in measure of iron ingots. This is a fair deal, as he can do nothing himself with the diamond, being a blacksmith of only moderate skill.

The two dwarves work their way downward to the diamond prize. It doesn't take Argathom long to retrace his steps. When they arrive at the chasm, the older dwarf looks at the bridge and then down the chasm. "It is for the best that ye did not try to cross this bridge. The moment yer weight was on the center, ye would have fallen to your doom. Give me some time and I'll be back with materials to make a small bridge to cross." Argathom waits, examining the bridge once more. With a mighty swing of his pickaxe, he shatters the unstable formation, but also snaps his stone pickaxe. It is for the better though. Don't need a curious dwarf trying to cross it. The older dwarf soon returns with some wood, and quickly fashions a narrow wooden bridge. The elder turns to Argathom and says, "Stay here, I'll throw the diamonds back over in me bag." Argathom nods and a few minutes later, they are both headed back to the surface to make their trade.

2. You are sitting in the local tavern with a large pint of ale in your hand - sitting nearby you is a rather young dwarf whom is clearly going through a bad time. He is crying to himself, and clutching a small wooden hammer toy. In the other corner of the room two shady dwarves are sitting whispering to each other and pointing occasionally at the dwarf. They stand up, one with a small dagger in his hand and begin to approach the young dwarf. What do you do?

Answer: Argathom moves quickly between the two parties. The shady dwarves slow for a moment, unsure of how to guage this new piece to the puzzle. Argathom asks, "What business do ye two have wit this young lad over here an' that dagger?" The two shady dwarves look around and, seeing that only they, Argathom, and the boy are in the room, charge Argathom. He is reached first by the dwarf with the dagger. Argathom sees him coming in for a stab and attempts to catch the dwarf's wrist, but fails and receives a stab in the side. Argathom winces with pain but quickly grabs the dwarf's wrist and pulls the hand away from him. Seeing the other shady dwarf almost trip over a chair on his way to the brawl, Argathom punches the enemy with the dagger in the throat. The assailant drops the dagger in his shock and Argathom throws him back. Argathom picks up the dagger just in time for the second enemy to reach him. He takes a punch to the side of the face and staggers back, the second enemy closing the gap for a second swing. Argathom drops the dagger to parry the blow by stepping to the side and catching the opponent by the wrist. He quickly slams the opponent's elbow inward with an open palm strike. The first enemy has returned for a second bout and swings at Argathom's gut, connecting. The wind almost knocked out of him and the pain of the stab becoming a growing concern, Argathom grabs the enemy by the shoulders and delivers a headbutt to the attacker's face, knocking him back and onto the ground. With both enemies temporarily subdued, he goes to his pack and grabs his sword. The first enemy was slowly getting up and the second was still on the ground, cradling his broken arm. He draws it and smacks both enemies with the side of the blade, knocking them out.

He puts a hand down to his wound and looks at his hand. Quite a bit of blood has escaped. The innkeeper finally rushes in and, looking at the scene, yells, "Wha' in tha world is goin' on here?!" Argathom sheaths his blade and points to the assailants, saying, "These two meant harm on this lad here. One had a dagger and meant ta use it. I stopped 'em. Might wanna send for the guards. I knocked 'em out, but they'll wake up soon, I figure." Argathom then sits down by his pack to get out some bandages. The adrenaline of the fight was starting to wear off, and the wound really hurt now. He took out a bandage and wrapped himself. When he was done, he took a swig of a health potion he had been saving for a rainy day, and chased it with the last bit of ale he had in his mug. While he was wrapping himself, he was asking the boy some general questions. "What's yer name lad? Yer father's name? Why are ye here boy?" He found out that the boy was lost in this town and couldn't find his dad, hoping to find him in the tavern, but when he wasn't here, he started crying. "Now, don't you worry lad. There be two more taverns here. Soon as I tell the guards what happened, we'll go and find 'im for ye, alright?" The boy nodded.

The guards came in a few minutes later and questioned Argathom, the boy, the innkeeper, and the assailants when they woke. After the guards figured everything out, they took the shady dwarves away. Argathom tipped the innkeeper, saying, "Sorry for all the trouble. May Dungrimm bring honor to ye and yer family." Nodding to the innkeeper, he left with the boy. They entered the closest inn. It had a small crowd, sitting around tables and a few drinks were being served. The boy ran over to a table near the fireplace, to a man that was holding his head in his hands. The boy got his father's attention and the father was overcome with shock and relief at the sight of his son. As soon as the happiness of reunion was no longer overflowing, the boy explained to his father what had happened since they got separated. The father stood up and stepped over to where Argathom was standing. "I can't believe all this has happened. Thank ye for rescuin' my son." "It was no trouble, 'side from this scratch I got, but I'll be fine. I should prolly get it checked though, so I'm gonna go find someone to look at it. May the light watch out over yer family." Argathom nodded to the two and left the tavern to go find someone to look at his wound.

3. Whilst wandering through the Dwarven Caverns you hear a voice call out to you; Oi, ye’! Cmere n get yerself an ale!”. You spin on your heel and see a heavily bearded bar-owner looking at you - a huge grin on his face, and a mug of ale in his hand. How do you react?

Answer: "Kormac ye great mountain of ale, I was jus' lookin' for ye!" The bar-owner laughed heartily. "Well, ye walked right past mah place, ye coal-brained lump o' beard!" Argathom laughed at his old friend and went inside for a drink. "What happened ta yer ole place Kormac?" Argathom inquired. "Bah, it was too small. Business is boomin' now." Argathom looked around at the empty bar. Kormac noticed the look of doubt on Argathom's face and added, "Well, boomin' at night, anyway heh. I imagine ye are here on accoun' of my letter, eh?" "Mhm. Ye say ye found some news o' mah sister?" Kormac looks down at his hands for a moment before answering. "Aye, tha' I have. It's not the best news though. I found out tha' she was brought over here by slavers. One o' the slavers was in here a few weeks ago. Got real drunk in the early hours, kept talkin' ta one o' mah barmaids abou' this an' tha'. He told her tha' he was done wit the slavin' life after he helped his mates bring over a dwarf they nabbed on the way to the coast. Comin' from the capital. Said he thought he'd head to the Holy Oren Empire an' work as a miner for the rest o' his life." Argathom was intensely serious when he looked at Kormac and said, "I'm sorry mah friend, but I gotta go then. Too bad I couldn't stick around ta have another drinkin' contest. I'll see ya soon." With that, Argathom snatched up his things and raced out the door.
