Hunter (sckolar) 50 Share Posted February 22, 2013 Arlen's Fall into Darkness Arlen walks through the forests of Elysium. The sun shining, with clear blue skies above. making his way to the boats. As he walks, he eventually feels the ground get a little softer than normal. Little does Arlen know that the ground underneath him is not supported very well. As he stands above a hole in the ground, he begins to get the common slight feeling that he should turn around. Knowing this very common feeling, Arlen hesitates to do so. Arlen turns behind him, to see the beautiful trees behind him. Arlen turns back to walk again, however he gets that feeling yet again. Arlen stops making his second step to even less supported ground. with the stronger feeling. This time, it is not just that feeling that he should turn to look behind him, but the feeling that he should turn around, and walk in the opposite direction from where he came. Arlen stares in the direction he came for a moment, not completely trusting this feeling. Arlen quickly turns back in the direction he was going, and stares in that direction for a little while. Arlen looks far past the trees, as far as he can for any signs of trouble. As Arlen stares in the direction he was planning to go, it is at this point that the ground feels softer. Not soft like sand, but soft because the ground is crumbling beneath him. Surprised by bow quickly the ground begins to collapse beneath him, Arlen turns to try and at least grab the ledge, but is too late, and falls into the hole. As he falls, his first hit to the smooth ground is from a short fall, however, due to little space, Arlen rolls off that rock, landing on another rock. To his misfortune, his body rolls off this rock, his fall continuing as he falls deeper into the deep dark cave. Finally, Arlen lands and rolls off one more rock. Unfortunately for him, this rock is sharper than the others. Arlen falls a good 10 Ft hitting this rock, breaking two of his left ribs, and cracking three on his right. For this final fall, Arlen can see down the cave, and what does he see? Nothing. As he begins to fall once again, every second is a minute, and every minute is an hour, and Arlen decides to follow the feeling he gets at this point… to protect his head! He quickly moves to protect his head, falling 25 more ft in the cave, landing on his back at the bottom, falling unconscious. Arlen slowly opens his eyes, his head facing the rocks. At first, Arlen had no idea where he was. Then he thought he was out in the forest! As he opens his eyes, he turns his head to look up from where he fell. finding that he fell a good 50 Ft into a deep dark cave. As Arlen stares up to the top, the opening of the hole is smaller than he remembered. As Arlen looks up, he notices one star shining through the hole, and forms a slight smile. This smile does not last long… After a moment of smiling, Arlen begins to hear a strange movement near him… Almost a walking sort of noise. Arlen rolls over, and looks in the direction he hears it from, turning to find a bat, coming right for his face. Arlen quickly jumps up with a yell of part surprise, and mostly pain from his broken ribs. The bat turns as it flies up the hole into the night sky. Arlen lands into a sitting position. After about three seconds of silence, and pain, he hears another noise. This noise was not just the feeling that one gets when they realize that they are not alone, but the noise that lets one know that they are being hunted. From a short distance, comes the noise of a snarl. This snarl was obviously from a zombie. Normally, Arlen would have been able to easily maintain calmness, hearing the noise of a zombie, however, this snarl was not just any regular zombie noise, no. Zombie usually would moan when hunting… This was the snarl of a zombie… A starving one. One that had not eaten in a long time… Although the zombie was near by, Arlen had his sword with him. Arlen quickly crawls behind a rock, and waits silently. As he sits, he hears slow foot steps new by, and a soft snarling noise. Arlen takes a small peak to see a zombie standing in what little starlight the sky provided. Arlen's face of horror only increased to find a zombie not just with a face of mush, but with a more smoothed out face. Almost as if the monster were living. The monster stands in the starlight for one more moment, beginning to walk again… As the monster begins to walk away, Arlen immediently notices how the zombie does not drag his left OR right leg… Nor does the zombie have a disabled arm… Or disabled anything… This zombie appears to be fully functional… Arlen tightly grips his sword… thinking of his demise. At this point Arlen believes that this is the end for him… His death will be at the bottom of a cave… His worse nightmare since he lost his friend to one years ago… Arlen stops tightly gripping the sword saying to himself "If a horrific creature can somehow wander down here, with no broken bones… Then there must be a way out… If that thing fell into the hole… he would not be standing up like that…" All of a sudden, Arlen hears the most horrific snarl he had ever heard in his entire life, and at this point… He knew he had been found. This is something that happened, rather than happening now))
